yeah will be returning back to work so certainly looking for someone trustworthy around the baby... havent really decided if my parents will be around initially but in the long run need someone reliable... its just the two of us at the moment so getting somone around 7th month would be good to train etc however what would she do through the day since we both are working... Also please suggest some good agencies .. thanks a lot My maid started 1 month before my second baby was born, in retrospect 3 months before would have been much better. I would then have had time to follow her around and teach her exactly how I'd like her to do everything. My mum came over a few weeks later and I felt obliged to take her out and about and then after my baby was born I just had no time and just left my maid to it. Its much, much harder trying to change things further down the track. Do you need a maid or a nanny? Are you planning to return to work? I'm a full-time mum so I hired a maid but at the same time, anyone who is in your house all day is invariably going to help you with your children and have an influence on them, so that was actually my primary criteria, to find someone who I thought would be soft, gentle and trustworthy around my kids. If I had been returning to work then the criteria would have been even more specific as the influence/responsibility would be greater. edited by kiwispiers on 19/07/2013

Congratulations.... I'm in my 5th week..i can totally feel the limbo state!. I found out last week too... i was very excited initially (still am) but getting anxious as i really want to know whats happening inside... if everything is going well etc... i have my first scan booked at the end of week 6... i dont have any morning sickness etc... [b'>just very breathless strangely[/b'>...anyone wiht experience please advice if exercising is ok? hot yoga etc? also advice on diet plans would really help :) BTW I have downloaded a few cool apps (im expecting, sprout, babycentre and what to expect pregnancy version) and registered on babycentre... so that keeping me engaged for now Breathlessness is one of the signs of anemia which is very common when pregnant. It was the first sign I had of being anemic during my last pregnancy. I'd take some iron supplements or you could get your iron levels checked if you wanted to make sure. It's not advisable to take up any new forms of exercise when you are pregnant. If you already do yoga, continue to do so but make sure it's under the guidance of someone who knows about pregnancy, there are some positions that aren't advisable when pregnant. No idea if hot yoga is ok, that would be something to check with an experienced yogi. Swimming is great low impact exercise when pregnant. As for diet, just a good healthy balanced diet is best. Thanks a lot Daza... ill surely get my iron levels checked, i had heard from someone that i could have some vitamin deficiency and you reiterated it so definitely worth checking.. i guess swimming should be doable till i find a good prenatal yoga class... please do suggest if you know of any good class Thanks

Hi .. does any one have a contact for TV installation on the wall? thanks edited by saggi_1 on 07/05/2013 I recently bought a few for our new house and the technician said the first mount is free but any concequent moves can be done but @ a charge...this was with Phillips. Perhaps its the case with other brands? Failing that the company I used for my home extension can do it since my neighbour used them too...let me know if you need the number. Thx Hi. we bought ours about 2 years back from sharaf DG and i am sure they will not return just to install our TV again ... so ya its best to have an external company come and install it- please provide me the contact. thanks

When I called Ecoclean to book a maid they told me that it was 40 dirhams per hour for a cleaner. If I needed the cleaner to vacuum and mop than it was 45 dirhams an hour. I was like euh... of course I want my cleaner to mop and vacuum, lost interest straight away. I booked 4 hours at Home Maids, they sounded professional and tomorrow I will let you guys know how it went. Hey... let me know how it goes... interested to try them too... thanks

I used PrettyPolly and was happy with the girl they sent (ended up requesting her each week). They are a cleaning company. You have to book them for a minimum of 2 hours at a time. We had them come in once a week for 3 hours to clean a 3 bedroom apartment (no ironing). They charge 30 AED per hour if you provide your own vacuum and own cleaning products. If you need them to bring a vacuum cleaner, use their mops/detergents etc I think it's an extra 15 AED. I always preferred them to use my mop etc rather than a communal mop that's cleaned other people's places. They also offer a more intensive cleaning service ie after a party or if you're moving out/into a new place. Hello Mrs_B can you suggest a good cleaners name from pretty polly?

They bring their own vacuum machine and a steam mop. They also bring a ladder for cleaning the a/c air vent. They clean inside the closet and kitchen cabinet. The 2 points i deduct is they didn't clean behind the door of the cabinet under the kitchen sink. Maybe they didn't think i would look there or maybe not enough time. They suggest 5 hours cleaning for my apartment but it was not very dirty and it was an empty room with no furniture or curtain so i told them 4 hours. As for bathroom the faucets and mirror are shiny but if you have mold on the tiles they cannot do much. Hi KamW, thanks for the info.. i am looking at similar services and need some one to clean the appliances too before we move in.. if i may ask, how much did they charge? thanks

Thank you all for your advice. I.am not that far off thinking to start making apointments from mid June. We keep looking online and the one always coming up is Icon-is there something wrong with it?? We will check out the ones you mentioned... Am not too concerned yet about the finish, just have to be on a low floor-below 10...All we see is high floor... Thank you for offering to put me in touch with your friend but we are looking for a 2+ bedroom unfurnished...But thanx...Good luck with renting it out. We will keep our eyes open and seriously look in June-not long now and I better start packing...yikes hey... try to tweak your search with specific buildings on dubizzle... i know someone moving out of saba end of may and has a lower floor (maybe furnished)... i know someone who owns an apartment in green lakes 2+maids... looking at renting out in june, if you want i can check with her more details.. she is the LL

Hi there. We are currently living in acomodation provided by dh work but want to move into an apartment. We will have to have left our current place by end of June so when should we start looking? We want to move to Jlt,has to be 10th floor or below...Otherwise we r easy...So how long does it usually take to find something and once you found something how long before you can move in???Sorry, first time we have to look ourselves and not sure where to start....[/quote Hi mareike76, if you are looking at apartments in JLT - look at Saba 2, Saba 3 , green lakes and laguna for excellent finish and seef/icon/V3 for size and decent finish. Saba management is excellent in terms of bldg maintenance... its very nice, only issue with some jlt buildings now is the introduction of parking areas which is ok if you have only one car or will have to pay fr an extra parking spot. jlt also has lots of new supermarkets/restaurants/bakery/salons... so ya the community is slowly building up ... Madina tower also has some good apartments but they are rarely available.... laguna seems to be a new promising apartments.. good luck edited by saggi_1 on 13/04/2013 edited by saggi_1 on 13/04/2013

Saggi 1 Sorry to hear you have been messed about, can I ask what price you were told and was it for 1 or 2 beds. FYI - You can rent golden Mile via other agents not just IFA, friends rented there using Tom Moon at Allsopp and Allsopp. Hey Nikki, we were told 120 for 2 beds plus maids (no kitchen appliances), this was through an ad on dubizzle through an agent called Realty estate and they took us to IFA office. We met John for IFA and was very unprofessional. he confirmed to us to put in our offer at 130k 2 checks and give him the deposit check which we agreed to and did... for two days he didnt contact us, we kept checking with him the status and eventually he said come and collect your check back as that apartment is going at 145k minimum at the moment. i asked for other apartments in GM and we also checked some other ads posted on the same day and IFA kept playing with the rates and time the apartment would be available. it seemed like they were weighing different offers for the same apartments.

Bugg3r! Marina residences are nice though and a good option as the layouts are fairly similar. Or try going through a real estate agent for GM, they are always cheaper than IFA! Good luck with your move. edited by littleone on 09/04/2013 Thanks littleone :)

Hi Crystil, thanks for the msg, and sorry you're having this damn issue too! I was speaking to one of my neighbors last night and he told me that maintenance is also doing the same for his shower (changing the plastic and not actually FIXING the problem) such a shame...I might have an outside company come in and properly fix the showers, regardless of what Nakeheel or the landlord says...we can't deal with this hassel we're having a baby in 3 months!!! My husbands company supplied all the tiles in the bldg, so maybe we will get one of his guys to come and fix it. If we do, I will let you know how it worked out, and also how much they will charge us for the labor in case you are interested in doing the same. Our trash chute has been locked since we moved in, so we've just been using the bins also...what a mess!!! hey gina... do you still live in marina residence. we plan to move to marina residence 1....were these issues resolved?

hey littleone... are u in GM2 - apparently we are planning to book an apartment... which we are told is sold to a new LL and will be vacated by 26 april? Nope saggi_1, we are not. Our lease isnt up until the end of the year and we will relocate to another apartment in one of the other buildings, either GM or another on the Palm. Just need to a landlord that has some common sense and wants a great tenant who has a fur baby with references. edited by littleone on 09/04/2013 hey littleone... aint moving to GM. :( IFA seem to be playing with the prices.. they took deposit chqs and returned it back... it seems the LL want a lot more. they said the rents have increased this week and they are not giving us any fix dates or rates at the moment. they still have ads on dubizzle published today with a normal price range but they increase it by 20k-25k when we call them.... i was quite excited about the walk in closet :(... looking at marina residence now

No, personally I dont BBQ in the apartment, but some numpty in our building did with a coal BBQ. Really some people have no idea. Saggi, we are moving not by choice but because our LL gave us the appropriate notice and he is apparently "selling" the apartment although we believe his real motivation is to get more rent. hey littleone... are u in GM2 - apparently we are planning to book an apartment... which we are told is sold to a new LL and will be vacated by 26 april?

Your welcome, we love it here have been in our apartment 3 years and we have to move which we are very sad about. BBQ's aren't allowed but we use ours often, you can get around it. You can't get gas cylinders delivered to the apartment but you can get around it! oh that's sad! why are you moving out?
