My DD does, she's better if she sits in the front. It's mostly the jerky stop/start when in high traffic volume on SZR etc. I've been told not to sit in front of a taxi though as a woman. Something about it seems as though you are hitting on the driver. Is it true? Also, as a side note, I keep seeing DD and DH on this forum. What do they mean? In ten years I have never been hit on by a taxi driver. Most are pleasant and some don't chat at all If they are too chatty I use the time to listen to music or phone friends DH is darling husband and DD Darling Daughter

My company provides me with housing in Dubai. I do not get a cash payment, instead I am issued a furnished apartment that is paid for by my company. I am pregnant and due in January. My company has notified me that I will receive full pay and housing during my 6 weeks maternity leave, BUT if I take any of the additional 100 days without pay I will not be entitled to any housing during that time. So I will either have to move out of the apartment for those days or pay the landlord directly (10,500/month). Has anyone encountered this situation before? Can some one please offer some advice. Thank you The house as per your salary is part of your salary package therefore if you take 100 days unpaid then you will forfeit any housing or accommodation paid to you

do you mean from England or from here? Do M&S deliver food from here, that would be great. In a similar vein, does anyone know of a delivery service which delivers fruit and veg? It's UAE only and more expensive than the UK No they don't deliver food. Geant online and trolley.ae deliver food but I do not know if they have veg etc

It will be announced on the 1st September when they site the moon You know what the next question's going to be, don't you....? ;) And I WILL NOT be the first one to ask it  Haha no clue and don't care as I am in the UK Lucky bu**er! How's the weather BTW? My mum and dad says it's been chucking it down but according to them, "it needed a storm to freshen it up". I'm in Northern Ireland and the weather has been lovely. Arrived Friday and no rain yet sunny at the moment and apparently it is going to be 20 degrees later ??

Hi SL, I know you recommend Dr Allen for Botox and Fillers and I think I may have asked you before about the price you usually pay, but can't find the thread. I usually go to Dr Imran Tahir and pay about 3,800 for botox in forehead and fillers in crows feet and bunnies, for some reason he also puts them in my cheeks (he seems to think my face is too thin). Just wondered if it was worth me trying Dr Allen? Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks very much.:) Hi Dr Allen now only does my Botox as my friend in the UK trained in fillers and buys them at cost for me ( restylane is only 100 to buy) I think when he last did my Botox it was around 1500 and the fillers were 2000. I think most of the top guys here charge the same prices. Give them a call as the Reception is usually very helpful. What I like about him is he takes the time to explain how everything works and doesn't make you do stuff you don't need and he's a lovely man

my husband and i have been married since 25th april 2016. (less than 4 months) and he is currently seeking a divorce through dubai courts. we are both from different countries and we got married in a different country too. i have tried to reconcile but all efforts prove fruitless. luckily none of us have committed adultery or such. i was pregnant 3 months ago and lost the baby due to missed miscarriage less than a month ago. Now my husband wants a divorce. i really don't know how i will be able to support myself here in dubai alone if/when the divorce is granted. sadly, i hear it may not be possible to get any settlement through the shariah courts . and i also hear you can get dowry, nafket motto, and naffed eda. I'm not so sure yet. i'll like to know some advice from other women first before proceeding to see a lawyer. any advice ladies? This may help answer some questions http://www.thenational.ae/business/personal-finance/if-you-really-must-divorce-this-is-how-it-happens-in-uae

I don't know the difference but the only time I had them done was at tips and toes and they were great for about two days. It wasn't their fault but they drove me mad and I ended up pulling them out. They feel fake and a nightmare to maintain. I now tint mine and wear falsies if I do out. They are too spiky for me if that makes sense and if you are fair as I am they look fake

Hi Ladies I am looking for best option to have online orders from UK/USA delivered to my work here in Dubai. Can anyone explain the differences between shop and ship and my box and let me know your feedback? Thank you!:) I mace only ever used S n S for clothes however I do price them here in the malls first and check the weight price to see if it works out worth it S n S can be expensive but I have never had any issues and it takes a week to arrive Many stores now deliver to the UAE for a nominal fee. River Island Next.ae Namshi has some brands New Look I rarely shop in Dubai anymore as too may bargains online

Those brands will be overpriced here, always. For instance, Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation at Sephora/Paris Gallery in UAE is 220dhs, in Canada it's approx. 120dhs after tax. If you want inbetween products, NYX is good and available at Lifestyle stores (or online at landmarkshops.com). You can also browse LookFantastic.com and FeelUnique.com, they carry a range of international makeup brands and deliver to UAE with Free Shipping after a minimum spend. I order Maybelline, L'Oreal etc from them and it's so much cheaper than UAE prices. My Maybelline eyeliner costs 20dhs from FeelUnique.com, at Lifestyle it's for 35dhs. I second NYX. Most of the ones you listed have a mark up price of 30% here I wish they sold MUA here as it is so cheap at home and my friend who is a makeup artist at home swears by it

I don't know if you know but a lot of the registration places open late and on Saturdays and it takes less than half hour. I go to Barsha Mall in the underground carpark they do the test whilst you sit upstairs and wait In the office I go after work and as I said it only takes 30 mins less if your car doesn't need testing

You have to continuously work for 12 months before being entitled to mat pay. If you fall pregnant before the 12 months then you only receive half pay This is as per the labor law Regarding the nationality I think I once read that here the child will automatically receive the Fathers nationality not the Mothers

We are struggling to get all our paperwork in order for the family visa, having been such gypsies and gotten married in the Carribbean, one child born in Ireland and two born in Australia. I know the Irish birth certificate, once apostilled, can be legalised in the Qatar Embassy in London. I can get the Australian birth certificates apostilled in the Australian Embassy in Dublin but where do I get them legalised? This is all so confusing and time consuming, I 'm worried the visa won't be processed when the children have to start school. Have you attested your marriage certificate in the Caribbean as you have to attest it in the country you married in. I would also contact an attestation company in Qatar there will be plenty on the web and they will be able to help and give advice as the ones here in the UAE are great for us

One drove me back from the airport in the new year She too traversed all the lanes on SZR and sat in the fast lane doing 80KM She also had her phone tucked between her ear and Hijab and spent most of the journey chatting on the phone. I didn't have the strength to tell her to stop using her phone as had just got off a night flight and was shattered

SilverAlex I hope you can update this as I kind of need the same info now - what did you do ? Did you have access to some kind of meds, or a gynaecologist that helped ? Sleepless right now!! :( A coil can work but gynae will need to advise on this and it has to be inserted up to 5 days. Taking s combined pill may work but In some cases it hasn't as it is licensed to be used this way

I live In the Greens and love it here Plenty of families, nice places to walk and most buildings have small parks for the kids It is close to Mall of Emirates and Ibn Battuta At one end we have a small supermarket tailors beauty salon, pet shop, pharmacy and pizza place At the bottom end there are restaurants, coffee shops ice cream shop salon larger pharmacy pizza place and sunglasses shop I wouldn't live In Tecom as there is too much concrete and high rise buildings The Greens is green, clean, very well maintained. During Xmas they put a tree with lights in the fountain and the same at Ramadan ( nice lights) Emaar who developed the area are one of the best. Regent school is part of the Greens and two of my friends children go there

Dear all, A single father friend of mine is looking to hire a maid/child minder. He is getting conflicting information as to whether or not he can do this legally given he lives alone with his daughter and hiring a maid would mean living under the same roof as a woman who is not his wife. I have seen posts here where people say they know of other single fathers having been able to do this. I would private message to get in touch but can't seem to find how (possibly disabled). Anyone know anybody who has or is doing this? Help much appreciated. If he can't have a live in he could use an agency maid. I would speak with immigration regarding the lie in route. I know the other poster means well but it is always best to either sponsor or have a sponsored one from an agency due to insurance and huge fines if using illegal ones. Also there is no private message function on here

I did that when my kids were 12 but i used to enter w them and seat them then meet them out when the film finishes but i think i am too overprotecting i think.of course i was in the same mall where the film is . I think in this day and age that isn't being overprotective. It's called being a good Mum I grew up in the relatively safe 70s and wasn't allowed into town on my own until I was 15 ?
