Dreamgirl in Bur dubai/ Meena Bazaar. Take metro there. The alteration guy is very good and if you ask him nicely he will do it there and then so you dont have to come back later.

i set up at Creative City freezone in Fujairah. It let me have a trade licence with "lifestyle consultancy" to run Decluttr Me and they have a branch office in Dubai so you can deal with the paperwork from here. Also it was cheaper than freezone in Dubai. There were ups and downs and it took over a month to get my visa but i put it down to typical UAE issues. Otherwise not difficult to form.

Flowerhead's suggestion is correct. However they do give a cheque book if requested. You can do this with HSBC and they should have recommended it to you. You won't need a visa to open this account. But you may be penalised on the interest if you make more than 2 withdrawals a month from this account.

What kind of service or product will you be selling. What is your budget for forming the company? Based on that i can advise which free zone you could use. You can use these formation companies such as creative zone etc but they charge up to 10k more for practically nothing. If you go direct to the free zone you get the same service. I used Creative City freezone in Fujairah to form my company Decluttr Me. They have a branch office in Dubai near Lulu Barsha which is convenient for handing over paperwork and collecting when required. They are very helpful too. I can work outside the freezone with this trade licence which is not possible with Tecom and Jebel Ali free zone. Hope that helps.

Try Primavera dry cleaners in Dubai mall. They dry cleaned my leather and i believe they do leather care as well. Its in the basement near the banks and feet first/N style corridor.

Hi, i live in one of the Emirates Gardens buildings which are owned by Damac. Its on the Street 1 side. They are well made and have good security and facilities. There are convenience stores within our buildings and we are getting a bakery and nail spa soon as well. Also a park has been opened with a running track which is good. Diamond view is incredibly bad and skanky so dont look there. Sandoval is nice but has gone up in prices. Motor CIty is not far and driving to Dubai central areas takes 10 minutes mostly which is great. Its sandy and not green like Motor City but we hope it will one day be nice.

Nah save the numbers on icloud and they will automatically come back onto your new phone as soon as you plug into itunes. Nothing gets lost nowadays with icloud. I wouldn't risk trimming the sim, its easy get a fresh new one. edited by shelo09 on 26/12/2013

You have to get a new one for microsim to work. you just go to the Etisalat/Du shop, pay something like 25dhs and they give you a new one to put in the phone. edited by shelo09 on 26/12/2013

It will take you 6 months to settle in here and a wise woman told me that the friends you make when you first move here wont be your friends later on. It was mostly true except for 2 friends i made from the start 8 years ago. Take it easy and it will happen. i belong to a few meetup groups - try Dubai Social Club although the administrator is sending ridiculous stroppy messages to all right now.

Met Chef Tomas at Bloomingdales the other day and he suggested the brine option. Worked wonders as we got to taste it. Very juicy

Havent touched the 5c but bought the 5s and love it. Its lighter than the 4s and the touchpad is useful. More expensive but worth it and doesnt have those tacky colours surrounding it.

Try Crate and Barrel. There is most probably white furniture in Home Centre and Pan Emirates but im guessing it will be slightly tackier.

Can i ask why you are flying away instead of confronting him now? Wouldnt it be better for your sanity in the long run to deal with this issue head long?

I lived in Bennett House in Motor City and it was amazing. Overlooked the lovely park and was safe area. The rents have gone up substantially and EmiratesNBD evicted a lot of people in my building to get new ones with much higher rent. Im now in Jumeirah Village Circle. It's sandy, it doesnt have the high street like in motor city but the roads are empty and its closer to get into central Dubai. Also the air-con is under DEWA so not as extorionate as Emicool. And it doesnt smell like DG.

The nikon camera with standard lens is the same price as in UK, but you can claim vat back in UK. The lens is cheaper back home so would recommend purchasing from there and claiming VAT.

There is one in Jebel Ali next to the banks (Main gate entrance) but you will get more coherent helpful advice if you go to the Bur Dubai one. From Trade centre roundabout take Bur Dubai exit, u turn and taken second right.
