I went today to the Reef Mall one and asked a sales assistant, she looked very taken aback that I knew lol! The sale will be on across all Babyshops, not just the Oasis Mall one, and I asked if it will be on toys and she said yes :) Happy shopping! edited by sourskittleashnut on 09/09/2012

I would recommend you scout the forums on here to see recommendations, and try them for yourself. From what I saw, the best ones around are: - Dr Khan @ Cooper Clinic (I go to him, he very helpful and informative, and gives his # so you can call him, appointments are easy to get) - Dr Loubster @ Infiniti Clinic - Dr Ahmed @ Kids First - Dr Waseem @ Medlink As other posts here have said, you should also look at your insurance as well as who is closer to you. When you have your baby the ped at the hospital will see him/her. Once you are discharged then you should go about finding the one you are happy with. I do not recommend Medcare Hospitals pediatric care from my personal bad experience there (I have another thread about that) Best of luck! edited by sourskittleashnut on 07/09/2012

I agree, really try to breastfeed, if you have formula its very tempting to just start them on it asap! If/when you do decide to formula feed, I highly recommend Aptamil, it's very good quality. The powder is very soft and easily dissolves, and they have lots of different types to address baby's needs (like Comfort for easy digestion, AR for babies with reflux). I had DD on Similac first since thats what they used at the hospital but it made her gassy, and I feel like Aptamils quality is far superior, with a very small price difference.

Medcare is good but not the best option, I delivered there 7 weeks ago, and for my next baby I would prefer City hospital or American. I believe City hospital packages are about the same as Medcare, whereas American hospital is definitely more expensive, I went to Medcare only because my insurance covered it. My antenatal appointments went well, usually had quite a wait but I had an ultrasound every appointment which I liked so I could see LO. My delivery was smoothe, epidural worked like a charm and the care after was good too. Basically I wasnt happy with them due to their horrible pediatrician who made us stay an extra day to make money off us. edited by sourskittleashnut on 03/09/2012

Sorry to hear LO isnt feeling well :( I would recommend changing docs, even if he cant cure the cold he could advise something to relieve the symptoms. I recommend Dr Khan at Cooper Clinic, he's very calm and explains things well, and he gives you his cell # so you can call/text him when needed. DD had a slight blocked nose at a couple of weeks old so at night her breathing was heavy, he recommended Ocean Spray to clear her nose and help her breathe/sleep better, perhaps you could try it? Hope your LO feels better!

Are prices for Tommee Tippee products standard across all stores? Would they be cheaper in Babyshop compared to BumbleBee, for instance?

Btw I use the Ameda Lactaline Double Electric pump and I love it! Its super efficient and easy to clean. It cost 800 dhs, and they do home delivery for a small additional fee (mine was 20dhs for Deira). It doesnt come with bags or anything - just the pump and bottles. If you read reviews its better than the Avent ones.

We used to keep a vacuum flask with near boiling water in it, pour it in her bottle and mix the formula, then to cool down formula we would put her bottle in room temp water. If baby is reallyyy upset, then add three quarters the amount of water you need at a hot tempurature, mix in the correct amount of formula, stir it, then add one quarter water thats cool room temperature, then stir slowly again. This results in nice warm milk. Also helps to prep before your babys feed, we would try most times to have it ready before she would get too upset and cry, I know how distressing it is to hear them :)

Hi there, We used Aptamil Comfort for abit which is also quite thick. Make sure you're mixing the formula properly. The water has to be really hot when you add the formula, about 70 degrees, then swirl in the formula (dont shake the bottle that adds air) to mix it, let it cool and then give it to your baby while its still warm. If the water is cooled-down the formula powder wont mix properly and be too thick to go through the teats well.

I switched from Similac to Aptamil 1 and my DD loves it! She was getting really constipated and gassy from Similac. Aptamil also has a formula for babies with Reflux, might be worth switching to. Best thing though would be to go to a paediatrician (I highly recommend Dr Khan at Cooper Clinic) and get a proper diagnosis, or see a midwife like Cecile (never tried her but heard very good things).

I agree, just be open minded that sometimes things can go their own way despite what you;ve planned. I just had my baby 5 weeks ago, and for 2 reasons I'm so glad I got the epidural even though I was, and am, still so pro natural delivery. I had really wanted a natural delivery, I ordered books on Bradley method and Active Birth from Magrudys, I practiced all the techniques, and throughout my pregnancy I was determined that I was not going to get the epidural. Once I was in labour though, they had to break my waters when I was 3cm dilated with the hook and for this the doc had her hand in there for what felt like an hour lol! It was super uncomfortable and quite painful, when she was done my whole body was shaking. I had such bad shivers I couldnt stop shaking, even the nurses kept checking I was okay, no matter what i did how I tried to relax I couldnt stop. So as my contractions built up and got more intense, I couldnt put any of the relaxation techniques to use because my body was just out of my control really. Every contraction I was proud of myself for getting thru it and I kept telling myself I can do this without epidural but at 5cm I just couldnt do it anymore, I felt exhausted, and I asked for the epidural. My other concern was that my baby's heart rate was low, the doc was very worried about it and they had told me when it came to the pushing stage it could get critical, so I was worried that if I was exhausted now how could I have the energy to push her out, and what if I'd be too tired to do it and had to get a c-section. After the epidural, I was able to relax, even sleep for 2 hours till I was fully dilated. Then when the pushing stage came, it was the most intense 15 mins of my life, my babys heart rate was getting lower and they had to get her out asap, we didnt have time I got her out in 4 pushes and LOTS of cutting, a major episiotomy, and my girl was out! I got lots of stitches,it took them more than half an hour to stitch me up! So at the end, I was glad I got the epidural, I feel like if I hadnt I might not have been able to deliver naturally and god knows how the episiotomy and stitches after would have felt! I do still believe in natural delivery though, but just be aware of the body and in the time of labour listen to ure heart, do whats best for you and ure baby :)

Outlet Mall has a store upstairs that has all sorts of strollers and travel systems, as well as toys for cheaper prices, brands included Chicco and I saw a Quinny as well.

I second Dr Jose! She actually specializes in making sure your spine is aligned and in proper shape to support your growing baby inside. I went to her in my pregnancy since I have scoliosis and she helped immensely. Also, shes a lovely person :)

I read on this forum that Carrefour makes custom mattresses if you give them the size. I havent tried it myself, would be worth a try to ensure you get the size you're looking for :)

Hello ladies, Another sale update, Babyshop in Oasis Center has EVERYthing 25% off! It said 'Weekend Bonanza' but I went in today (Wednesday) and the sale was on! Not sure if the sale applies to pushchairs, car seats and feeding bottles etc since I didnt look there, but the sale was definitely on all clothes, nursery items, bags etc from what I saw.

Thanks for this post, I hadn't considered getting a sleeping bag till I saw this. Now I'll be sure I'll get one for my little girl when shes a couple of weeks old since the AC in our house tends to get really cold! Where can I get Grobags from? I saw Mothercare has sleeping bags, are they the same thing?

hi taurusbaby, I agree with angel joy, for research I used youtube videos, online reviews and had visited Just Kidding for demos, so when I walked in to Mom&Me I knew exactly which car seat and pushchair I wanted to get, Also, I went to the Deira City Center branch and the guy in the pushchairs section was very knowledgeable, demonstrated everything to us well, maybe the Battuta staff isnt good? I would just use the store to take advantage of the prices :) edited by sourskittleashnut on 27/06/2012

Hello ladies! Another sale update from me, got a text that all Mothercare stores go on sale tomorrow 25% to 50% off! I'm kind of annoyed because I bought a bunch of stuff from them a few days ago and when I asked about the sale they said 'We dont know, probably July' - grrrr! Anyhow, happy shopping!

The main one they have is Graco, not much variety in other brands, I saw the one in Deira City Center
