I had baby number 3 a month ago. He is absolutely wonderful. My other 2 are 7.5 and 2.5, they love their baby brother and in a weird way he's kind of cemented our family. We hadn't planned on 3 but so glad he came along and wouldn't change it for the world! I say go for it! edited by starsouthern on 08/08/2011

I just moved to Dubai 2 months ago with my husband and two small boys. I just found out that I am pregnant again - oops! - and am worried because I don't have insurance. I've read lots of older threads about this and am just wondering if anyone has gone through this recently. It looks like Al Wasl package is 5000AED for antenatal care and 7000 for NVD, is this payable up front? I am freaking out a bit and would love to talk to someone with a similar experience. Yes the 5000aed for antenatal care is payable upfront you can no longer pay as you go. When you arrive to deliver you pay a deposit and then the balance when you are discharged. There is a company here tha gives loans for medical purposes, don't know what the terms are but may work better than paying all that cash up front.

@ Starsouthern...can this baby jogger city select be purchased here in Dubai? No sorry I bought mine in the States and had a friend bring it over. You might ask at Just Kidding as I think someone said they have other baby jogger products in their safa branch.

LOVE LOVE LOVE My Baby Jogger City Select!!!! I have a NB and a 2.5yr old. They're both really comfortable in it and it's way easy to use. I borrowed a friends P&T while waiting for mine to arrive and think the select is much better.

I've just done a house hunting search 2 beds in falcon city are now 100-110k and they go quick. We thought the living area in the 3 beds at motor city were small and they wanted 105k for those even though they were advertised at 90k. I tell you it's been a complete nightmare. We nearly opted for a 2 bed in AR because the prices have gone crazy at the moment no idea why! We have 3 kids so really do need 3 bedrooms, were really lucky 2 find a 3m for 100k. All the other 3m's were asking 120-140k of and I got offered one for 175k! AR is a lovely community and if you're happy with the 2 bed then I wouldn't look anywhere else.

We pay approximately 600-700 AED during wintertime and 1700 AED during the summer months. We have an irrigation system in the garden. Is that for an al Reem 3m? Do you have a big garden?

I gave birth there 2 weeks ago. I had fantastic care. The nurses and midwives were fantastic. Dr Luthra was amazing. I was induced at 42 weeks. I didn't want an epidural, and was not pushed at all into having anything that I didn't want. I had to have an episiotimy because baby was so big he wasn't coming out Dr Luthra tried getting him out without but just wasn't happening. I was admited into the hospital on july third to be induced and discharged on july 5th total cost for baby and I was aed 10k this included all our care, private room, delivery, medication, vaccines, food ect. This was my third baby, apart from the stiches I had no complications so was left well alone by the nurses as I had asked to be. However if I needed anyone they were there within minutes. You can ask them to take the baby into the nursery but I didn't.If you have any specific questions I'd be happy to answer them.

You could try Blossom, Jumeirah International Nursery School (JINS), and Kensington Nursery. If you google them they all have websites. I have a lot of teacher friends that send their kids to these three nurseries.

Your school should have a calendar with exact dates. The holidays vary slightly from school to school so best check with the one you're going to.

It depends on the airline some have the policy that the credit card holder must be present at check in with original card, others say a photocopy is fine, others you can go to their tickecting office and show your card prior to flight and they put a note in the system other airlines don't care. Best to check with the airline that your booking with.

We tried all sorts of sleep training with my daughter. The screaming episodes got longer and longer to the point where when we said time for bed she would panick! She then learnt a clever trick of vomitting every time she was put in her cot. We would clean it up and put her straight back again and she would vomit again. One night she vomitted 6 times and that's when I gave up. We all found the whole thing too stressful and decided that it was easier having her in our bed and sitting with her until she fell asleep then put up with all the screaming and vomitting. One night just before she turned 2 she said she wanted to sleep in her brothers room, so we said ok and haven't looked back since. She now sleeps on her own and through the night in a single bed. Even when she's sick I can't get her to sleep in our bed now!

My first son born here was tongue tied, I had his tongue snipped in Sharja she was the only Dr who would do it at the time (this was 7 years ago.) My lactation consultant, Paula Miller took me to her. It did help in his feeding but I couldn't get the supply up enough to exclusively BF him so had to supplement with formula. I did mostly BF until he was 8 months old though.

Hey southern one more question if you don mind , but was it your normal doc doing the scan or some other specialised sonographer. The thing is i have my app with my doc on the 12th of July (19 weeks) and i don know if that is the day when i will have my anomaly scan or will she schedule it on a seperate date No it wasn't my normal Doc, at my 19 week appointment she gave me an appointment for the scan for the specialist to do on a seperate date.

If coming up Al Wasl Rd from AD direction keep driving straight past Safa Park (keeping it on your right) Turn right off Al Wasl Rd just before the Post Office. Keep driving straight on this rd. Go straight through the largeish round about and I think it's the next right after that. Can't miss it. The DEWA office is inbetween Al Wasl Rd and Mazay Centre on SZR. HOpe this helps.

I have heard the reason for better value for money here is due to proximity to other hings and have read comments like miles away from everything/anything and lack of facilities etc.... However on the google map it looks to have a few malls nearby and seems to be on a main rd into dubai. So what is it so far away from. It appears that people spend a lot of time within their community. Can anyone please tell me what communal facilities are there Are there many families with young children how far away for groceries/co op/markets/coffee Gym maintenance and safety are also of interest Any info is much appreciated TIA There are no communal facilities there as yet. There are families, some houses have their own private poolos others don't. Nearest supermarkets are in DSO, Arabian Ranches and Motor City and MCC. No Gym there yet Festival City, Mirdif City Centre and Dubai Mall are the nearest Malls. Maintenance depends on the landlord. A lot are selling their houses so you may move into a house that gets sold quickly and new owners may want to move in. Rents are reasonable at the moment however landlords have started to put up rents as they think the area is desirable now even though most of the area is still a desert. edited by starsouthern on 29/06/2011

She needs to get hold of a lawyer that deals with medical issues, she can try contacting her insurance company to see if they have anyone that they recommend. She should also contact DHA and the MOH to see what they say and what she needs to do to investigate futher. Unfortunately it is a risk with epidural and the disclaimer may hold. Good luck to your friend and hope she recovers soon.

. I think you have no problem. The car seats and boosters are all about height and weight so if he is over there is no need of a booster seat. Actually if he is over in height and weight, and he is in a booster seat it might be dangerous for him in case of anything happening. I hope that never happens, but it is all about prevention, right :) I know, I'm worried that if he's too big for boosters it could be dangerous for him if he is in one. Hope they make the law here with height and weight guidelines as well as age. I hope they do inforce the law as well, saw a policeman talking to a lady who was holding her 2/3 year old in the front seat outside DS' school the other day. She was complaining about how bad the traffic was and how he should be doing something about it! I was goobsmacked that he didn't do anything about the child sitting on her lap! He just said I'm trying keep driving!

Yep my DD plays up big time if I'm in the house and DH is trying to put her to sleep, she's 2.5 yrs we have full blown tantrums and it can take nearly 2hrs to get her to sleep. If I'm out during that time DH has no problems at all, it takes him 5 mins to put her down. Maybe go down to shops or something and let DH do the whole bed time routine every night until you leave so it's not a big change for him when you do leave.

I was reading that all kids until aged 11 have to be in some sort of carseat/booster, which I think is fantastic and about time. However my 7 year old is taller and heavier than all recomended height/weight limits for boosters on the market he is actually over the height and weight limit to sit in the front in the UK although he doesn't sit in the front. What do I do? The seats belts in the car fit him fine and are positioned correctly without a booster.

Yep, it's the "heart aspirin" - Ma forgot hers. And I forgot to say that she wants it soluble, so Aspimed is not an option. But thank you for the info, will know what to get if desperate :) OK, thank you, Ibn B not necessary now, I'm told, but for future reference, is there a dedicated office supplies shop anywhere around - I'm thinking like "Ryman's", or "Office World"? The pharmacy at MedCare Hospital have the baby asprin, not sure if they have the soluble stuff though.

there are quite a few ducks in springs 11 and 12 with ducklings .. it probaly needs food .. dont give it cereal ie breakfast cereal- or bread .. misconception ducks and bread ..sticks in their crop .. if you have and grit around... it aids digestion .. if you have popping corn in its natural state - chuck a handful in a blender and turn it to crumbly mash .. or there is a pet shop in the shopping centre at meadows near springs near to spinneys - they may do chicken food..but it may want mashing up also .. lots of fresh water and warmth at night - dont leave it in the bath - there is not enough oil in its feathers to retain its body temperature.. get a cardboard box with newspaper on the bottom with enough room for a bowl of fresh drinking water and food .. it will ruin the water in a couple of hours so it needs changing frequently or try to get a rabbit run or similar if you have grass outside .. pop it on the grass with a shady area ... Thank you, have now moved them. Will head out to find some real food for them.
