Frozen meat is similarly processed from freshly slaughtered animals or poultry. The meat, which is in peak condition and freshness, is preserved by rapid freezing to colder than -18°C and is then stored and distributed in this frozen form. (copied quote) Freezing stops bacterial growth. The complex chemical changes that cause deterioration of the meat, such as rancidity, are also slowed down considerably. Freezing meat can therefore preserve the meat in good condition and retain its wholesomeness and quality for long periods ranging from 6 months to a year depending on the kinds of meat. Upon thawing, the quality of the meat should be as acceptable to the consumer as the fresh product. Before I realized that the some of the chicken breasts I bought here were thawed, I tossed them in the freezer. Did this for about 4 years until someone pointed it out to me that it was not fresh but thawed and not to be refrozen. My husband and I are still here to tell the tail :) edited by SueB on 03/07/2012

That's a thing I'm not sure about - do I just go and get a cone tomorrow or I take her t get checked too?? I'm sure I don't worry or fuss so much about the children, maybe just because they can talk!! If it has stopped bleeding and she is not worrying it anymore than she should be fine. It would be mum in the bathroom to be quiet and not able to jump :) I think the cone might upset her more. Does your vet not have the jackets? the wound is on her tummy then? not on the side. The winding elastic plasters should work for a day or so as DohaHW suggests...make sure it is not too loose though..if you do it around the wound and secure it with tape on her back. Not understanding why they would do a tummy incision with nursing kittens.......here are directions for making a jacket for her....doesnt look difficult :) http://www.instructables.com/id/Superior-post-surgical-feline--canine-appliance.-/ edited by SueB on 03/07/2012

was your cat marking before you took out the suitcases? I have many more females than male cats and they very rarely marked unless they were upset or I was travelling. Usually their marking does not smell??? anyway, google female cat spraying and you should find some help there :) edited by SueB on 02/07/2012

Is this a side spay or is it a tummy spay? I have to assume it is a side spay because the kittens are still suckling at times and not completely on wet/dry food? Sounds like a stitch has come undone. the tshirt is good but doubt it will stay on :(. Tomorrow you can get a spay jacket if they have one. If you can get her to stay on your lap and gently hold a compress to the wound (cool sterilized water) to see if you can stop the bleeding. You will have to keep her away from the kittens tonight unfortunately or they could end up removing all the stitches. Put mom is a small bathroom with litter and food...hopefully far enough away from the babies. Make sure the babies eat and drink and put a hot water bottle in there with them for mommies warmth instead of mommy :)

behind every cash register on the wall, or on the checkout desk is a large bright yellow sign with the number of Consumer affairs on it. They are a great help!!!! please call them and tell them what is going on. I have actually called them while standing at the checkout and things changed rapidly..in my favour.

why not ask him how he feels? is it possible that you are so wrapped up in new motherhood (perfectly normal :)) that you are forgetting him? is it possible that he does not feel he has a place in your life at the moment? is it possible that you both need to start dating each other again? Is it possible for you to carve out some special time with him. It is normal for new mothers to leave the husbands on the shelf for awhile. Then you as a new mother do not understand why the husband becomes distant and unexciting. Now please understand here, I am not blaming you or him just trying to help with thoughts that might not have been thought out loud. Sounds like you both need to hear how the other feels without blaming and telling each other they are bored etc. You and he can do something about it but you have to make the effort and if the person making the 1st effort is you, to arrange a night out for dinner then so be it :)..someone has to take the 1st step. Anyway, as I said, not blaming you but I remember being a new mom and so do my friends. This was a big topic of discussion at one time. So, hopefully you both can sit and hnestly tell each other how you feel and get over the hurt. And, yes marriages can be dull and can be exciting and can be middle of the road, that is life :) but it takes work, especially with a new family member :)...

Tom Cruise is clearly Suri's father. She looks just like him. At least we know that... For certain? There were strong (tabloid) rumours that her father wasn't TC but the founder of Scientology (Ron someone).......I really don't think Suri looks similar to TC......did you see the magazine cover with her baby photo when she was first revealed?! this is now getting ridiculous ......

I read all sorts of books from highbrow to lowbrow and frankly some the highbrow beautifully written are ****** boring, at least this has some pizazz...the s e x scenes can get pretty ho hum so I find I am now skipping over them for the most part....wonder when they will find Liela????? As far as Christian is concerned, he is quite the complex person and it is interesting finding out why he is the way he is.... As I said, I am a reader and make time to read so think I am also pretty well rounded in the literature dept.....I can usually find something to learn in all the books I read, whether they be badly written or not :)

honestly. From the article people were incensed that they got a fine from a plain clothes officer. If they had seen a uniformed policeman they would not have crossed there??? duh???? They want an awareness campaign? so, they are complaining but they are not being stopped at the airport and given their fines there...they are actually given the fines in person from a yahoo in shorts lol. Makes believing the maids story about getting fined at the airport a bit more of a fantasy :)

or!!!! maybe someone at the airport is running a scam!!!!! and nobody but the maids know about it and are being threatened with deportation if they dont pay!!!! really. Now, exactly where in the checkin process are the maids being stopped? at checkin? security? boarding the plane? I would say that if it is only the maids then that would sure be suspect because alot of people that are not maids also jwalk and if that is the case, being charged at the airport we would have heard the hue and cry way before this lol.

Mariam, have you thought that because she is disorientated and now deaf, she could be having a hard time orientating herself within her surroundings? especially when you are not there? You could try putting her or enclosing a space for her with her food and litter, familiar bed and toys but in a smaller area within your apt. not for always but for now to see if she becomes more comfortable in a small area, just when you are not there? I am sure what she went through was very traumatizing for her and this could be why she is crying (or partly)...you might also (if she does not mind it) putting her carry cage in the small space without the door but also with a hot water bottle and fuzzy bedding with a towel over the whole thing with an opening for her to go into? You could put one of your sleep tshirts in there with your smell. Just some suggestions to think about :)....I find when my cats are traumatized I put them in the bedroom for a few days with their box and food with me going in and out, then leave the door open later.

Your first place to start is to find out if they have an online registry with a store. That will certainly help you decide. Ask the parents of the happy couple on what gifts they need. Would they prefer cash? To be honest, I would doubt if people walk around the wedding gifts and try and price them to see who was cheap and who was not. If you want people to know how much you spent, leave the price tag on :) You can buy beautiful gifts that do not cost $500.00 and you can also spend $500 on gifts that are just awful but expensive lol...so. Dont look at the cost, look at what they need, if it something they will hide in back of a closet, will they use it. You can buy 2 beautiful crystal wine glasses from Tiffany just for them to use on their anniversarys or anytime special.. but you can also get beautiful wine glasses that are less expensive but just as beautiful somewhere else :).....so....this is your 1st nephew and you decide what you want to give them in relation to what they need or would like....if at the end of the day it costs $1,000 and you can afford it, g for it, but it it also costs $250 and that is what you are going to spend that is fine as well. If people try and see what you spent rather than what you sent from the heart and lots of looking then......oh dear I cannot say it lol....but, unless they are rude and ask, they will nev er know....but I can tell you...they might bring out Aunt Ednas very ugly bowl that cost $1,000 and she was puffed that she spent so much, but it is back of the closet unless she visits, or they display the beautiful wine glasses that cost maybe $300 that are very special to them because Aunt mildred and Uncle Harry spent alot of time picking them out ;) (examples only eh lol) you choose.

you could ask the dog why he pees on the sofa? but, you might not like the answer lol...ok. sounds like the dog might not have been properly toilet trained if he was peeing all over the house. His marking are now also all over the house. Are they alone alot, have they had a dental checkup, do they get at least 2 walks a day, does someone pay attention and play with them throughout the day...even tossing a ball for 10 min now and then will help. Are they trained to behave ie, sit, stay, come and walk well on the lead. If not they might need to have work to do. Dogs like to have a purpose and they do understand not getting on furniture, they understand no if they learned what it means etc. Anyway, those could be some answers to your question 'why did my dog pee on the sofa' :) if it is lonliness then you might consider putting them in doggy daycare a couple of times a week. edited by SueB on 24/06/2012

we didnt realize that either mumto2 and we sold our house. We now have 2 properties, one is rented the other is in renovation. You must rent at arms length though, ie, no family can rent the space and you have to have a legit lease :). We also pay taxes to the government for the privledge every month and get it back plus expenses at the end of the 2nd year (you only have to file every 2 years) We are going to request the cra not to charge us tax until the end of the period as we rent below our payouts. You also hav e to cancel CC cards, health card and anything big that ties you to Canada. You acc ountant will fill you in all all the goodies to be a non resident. FYI, you might want to consider getting a property manager to manage and rent/take care of your property..... p.s. you have to request non resident status btw. your accountant can help with that. edited by SueB on 23/06/2012

If it is just a spot or 2 it can be spot treated with Lamisil spray or cream. Ask the vet to pluck some hairs from the dog to find out exactly what kind of ringworm you are dealing with here. You should not have to bath the dog every day, every 3 days should do it (if required) and you leave the shampoo on for 10 - 15 minutes then rinse. You should keep your child from petting the dog :)....maybe just put him in the kitchen, keep the floors clean and check your daughter for rings everyday. Anyway, hopefully when they do the black light it will not be ring worm and if so then hopefully just a spot which can be treated :)...good luck.

agreed. you also do not have to be local, which was my point. You can run a business out of a villa. It must adhere to all the above. . If you are not Emirati the only way you are allowed to run a business out of a villa is if the villa has commercial zoning permit which means you can not live in it, it is for commercial purposes only. Therefore it is illegal for a non local to run a business out of their home. If you have turned the maids room in your villa into a salon or shop and you are not Emirati then you are breaking the law as the DED would not license you. Then it seems I must conced in the face of your obvious expertise in this matter ;)...now what to tell the 3 very high profile women who are not emirati who have very successful businesses that they run out of their villas ...and... live in the villa as well.

you dont have to be a local to work from home. You just need a Local to sponsor your business. There are a heck of alot of woman here who work from home that are licensed and not local. You are not legally allowed to run a business from home. To be licensed you need a local sponsor, office lease or ownership attested in company name plus pay all the fees. People like freelance hairdressers who pay a salon to give them a labour card are not legal. agreed. you also do not have to be local, which was my point. You can run a business out of a villa. It must adhere to all the above. Virtual offices are also not legal according to the DED. A freezone license is for the freezone only.

Hi Amy :)......honestly, the only experience I have had with any personal mobility device was when my husband needed a wheelchair and I was the designated wheelchair driver :). I might think some very small minded people might use their stupidity to think someone using a personal mobility device to 'not need it' when they cannot see anything wrong with them. Notice I used the words 'small minded'' etc :0 If I remember correctly, you probably could use or are using a scooter? then girl, you just continue using that scooter and for those who are 'small minded' let them think what they want...you need it, you use it :) Anyway, back to me lol.. the knee walker is for me. please don't spray your cats face with water. It rarely works except to make them fearful of anything that sprays. You will come to know when the cat is about to bite. His body language will tell you :). If the tip of his tail starts to twitch I would stop what you are doing and remove your hands. If you do a search on google you will find a few web site that will tell you about cats body language. They are pretty accurate. Ignoring him will help and I would actually warn any children about petting him. If they know and are forewarned then they will be prepared or not bother petting the cat :) Never play with the kitten with your hands. Use a toy. Let the cat be the guide. Biting is hard to stop but once you are aware of his body language you will able to read him and be prepared to stop the activity before he loses the plot :)...

Well, still no sign. Went to municipality yesterday to find two things out - firstly, apparently, they do not trap micro-chipped cats???? Not sure about that; secondly, you can call a call centre, give the micro-chip number etc and they can tell you whether they have your cat or not, without having to traipse into the desert (would have been helpful if id been told all this when i rang them). Clearly, there is a contradiction here - if they can tell you that info on the phone, then they must have possession of cats with chips. Anyway, he wasnt there. Have put flyers out, knocked on doors and spoken to everyone I can. Will continue with these tactics and still feel hopeful. Reward is a good idea, Nyranee. Just about to call feline friends too. Thanks everyone for your help. We've had a few tears in the last day or so and lots of blank staring out of the window. My DS, not me! I've got beds to make! Did the bright spark happen to tell you how the men know if a cat has been microchipped before picking them up???no?? thought not as there is no way to tell. Now if the cat has his ear clipped they would know he/she has been neutered/castrated, thats about it. They do pick up cats with clipped ears and microchips. When they pick up alot of cats, most often there are a few terrified cats to a cage. it is difficult to check for microchip number unless they take it out of the cage or put it in a squeeze cage. Would they let you see the recent additions to the Municipality vets???? you can try insisting to see them, just in case. When you contact the vets include your microchip # so they can check, just in case. Keep contacting the Mun Vets. New cats arrive everyday.

If you have been missing your cat, you MUST PHYSICALLY go to the Municipality to see what cats they have caught in the back. Do this for a week or more, leave a picture of your cat and its chip number. With the crack down on feeding street cats, it is highly possible that trapping is going on at night more aggressivly than before. Put up the posters, knock on doors etc.

this should help :) Dogs: a. From non-rabies free countries: dogs and cats may enter Canada if accompanied by valid rabies vaccination certificate issued in either English or French, by a licensed veterinarian, clearly identifying the animal and showing that they are currently vaccinated against rabies. The certificate should indicate the type of rabies vaccine used, date administered and expiry date (please note that if validity date does not appear on certificate, it will be considered a 1 year vaccine). b. From rabies-free countries (as recognised by Canada): Dogs and cats may enter Canada if accompanied by a certificate, in either English or French, of an official government veterinarian clearly identifying the animal and showing that rabies has not existed in that country for the 6 month period immediately preceding shipment of the animal, and that the animal has been in that country for the 6 months preceding import or since birth. Please note that (a) above is also an option if the animal has been vaccinated against rabies. Note: Dogs and cats under 3 months old are exempt from above rabies requirements. In addition, please note the following section (c) for all puppies under 8 months old: c. for puppies under 8 months old travelling unaccompanied to Canada, in addition to above, they are required to be accompanied by a detailed health certificate. Please see www.inspection.gc.ca under title `Pets Imports' and then `Dogs' for further details. d. An inspection fee must be paid for dogs and cats from countries other than the USA: CAD 30,00 + tax for the first animal in the shipment, and CAD 5,00 tax for each additional animal in the shipment. Please note that above only applies to personal pets and does not apply to commercial shipments. For further information on importing animals, please view www.inspection.gc.ca under title `Pets Imports' or contact: Client Services, AHPD, CFIA, 59 Camelot Drive, Nepean, Ontario, Canada, K1A 0Y9 Tel: (613) 225- 2342 ext. 4629 or 4790. Just found out that I have a cataract which needs to be removed. Does anyone know how long it takes to recover and start driving again? Is it just a day or two? Have any of you ladies had the op here in Dubai please? I had both eyes done, 1 week apart. The complete recovery is 6 weeks but you can drive once the patch comes off (a few days) . You cannot bend over for a few weeks I believe, not heavy exercise or lifting weights but can walk/speed walk etc. You will need to put in viscos drops at night and lighter ones in the day. No touching eyes and scrub scrub those hands :). You can see right away :).....you will find your eyes are more sensitive so make sure you have good sunglasses. If you wear a prescription sunglass, get a regular one as you wont be able to see through the prescription. I find I have a pair of indoor sunglasses for malls etc because the florescent lights bother me.....at home in Canada |I wear my sunglasses in all weather now because it is more comfortable but no problem without :)
