Is there a sample maid's contract anyone on the forum? That would be a great thing to have for us first-timers.

There's a great article in Time Out this week on a place to get a spray tan, even I may try it...

When you buy these, is it expected that you bargain for them? Or just pay the price they quote?

I also would be very interested as I would like to go with my husband and kids to Petra and Red Sea, if anyone has recommendations on best time of year, tours, and hotels. TIA!

I would love a recommendation on where TO go for good Iranian food. I lived there for 3 years in the 70s as a child and still dream about the delicious food...

We've stayed at the Sheraton Vistana, which has a variety of size units and is pretty close to WDW. SOme units are newer and some are older. Also in Kissimmee there are a lot of great vacation resorts. We stayed at Orange Lakes CC there and loved it. But we had a rental car to get back and forth to the parks.

Uh oh, we have no doctor... I was told I could buy over the counter. No? Shrekfeet, can I do what you suggested without my DD that the prescription is for, or would I need to bring her with me?

Xiana, I feel for you and have the exact same problem. I could have written your post. I have Hemril suppositories from the US, it's hydrocortisone acetate. Seems to be helping, and no headaches or side effects. Don't know if that is available here. Also was told to take metamucil every day to help with constipation. Good luck!

Does anyone know where I can find Malarone for malaria? We've just moved here to I'm not very familiar with all of the areas and I hear it is in short supply, so I'm hoping someone has seen it lately? TIA!

I did some more asking around today... most kids SMS their parents and it costs 1/2 a dirham per text, so you can preload their account That I can do!

So that means that I can't really use it then, right? I never got the test message through cell service, only wi-fi. I see my options as 1 - get a blackberry for me to use or 2 - let my younger kids get facebook or 3 - get a more expensive plan? Any other options?

Don't get too excited spongemonkey... I got it to download, took forever to set up, and then sent a msg from blackberry to iphone over wi-fi and it worked... then tried it over etisalat and have not received. Also tried to respond and Blackberry did not receive. Let me know if yours works and maybe I messed something up!

OK, that makes sense. Going to find some wi-fi in this hotel and see if I can download Whatapp and make it work. DDs are 9, 11, and 13 and the 2 younger don't have FB so that's not an option. Working on it now! Thanks!

Thanks for all the info! When I asked at a kiosk, they told me that if you unlock the iPhone and have iOS5 (we do) you can no longer sync any music and videos :-( I don't know if it is better to just let them use them on WiFi only, and then get a Blackberry for phone/texting? I don't want to spend a ton of money but they are moving 1/2way round the world and feeling very cut off.

LOL I have a 13 year old girl too. nothing works for long, all of these suggestions i've tried and they work once or twice and then they lose interest again. i usually just let it go unless someone is coming over and then it's in her best interest to pick up. i've also tried packing things up and taking them away and it has never worked for me. even taking away cell phone, computer didn't make her comply. it's just the way they are at this age (and I was too). Only 5 more years and they are off on their own to create their mess elsewhere. It's not the battle I want to have daily.

Hi, we are moving to Dubai at the end of January and have been househunting this week. My 3 girls (9, 11, 13) will go to school at ASD and my husband will work in Tecom. We looked at Meadows, Al Barsha, Umm Suqeim. Will it be easy enough to meet people if we live in Al Barsha? It seems like Meadows would be easier but I like central location and size of villas in Barsha. Any advice/opinions are appreciated!
