Daiso at Dubai Mall have a brilliant selection of cool bags for 7 Aed each. Waitrose is near-by and have small freezer packs perfect size to fit in the cool bags.

Awwww Speed Queen I feel your pain- I know exactly how you feel! I felt like I was on a roller coaster for 8 months and then got my lucky break in January. I had to majorly adjust my salary expectations though and negotiate hard for a 5 day week (instead of 6)... I know it's hard but just try and stay positive and know your worth!

Hi, I was in the same situation as you and it took 8 months to finally land a job. I agree with Kates01, it is a tough market out here and it takes time as there are many rubbishy companies that want you to work for nothing and don't seem to have a clue what they're doing. From my experience speculative applications got me the interviews. Here it seems to be about who you know and name dropping. On yeah and with your speculative applications make sure you mention you're on your husbands visa in the cover letter! Good luck!!

My friend paints/draws the most amazing paintings! How can she start actually making a living from this - where do you start? She has a facebook page, is busy with a website - then? Just email to hotels and corporate offices? She is sooooo talented it's unreal :) She should register with art consultants (thejamjar) and submit work to art galleries here at Al Quoz/ DIFC. A lot will depend on where she is from and is she here in Dubai? She could also sell online - Etsy is a great website.

Thanks everyone - I guess on the positive side all these interviews have been excellent experience. I am now in a position where we need the money so I guess I will need to be a bit more flexible! Good luck Dramaqn, hope you find the right position!

It very well could be you or your expectations. Have you seen any jobs that ARE offering the type of package you want? Maybe you are not "selling" yourself enough in job interviews? Maybe you don't fit the criteria for education, experience, nationality, etc. that they're looking for. [b'>Maybe you're overqualified. Companies here can always find someone to work more for less money.[/b'> If they are messing around from the beginning, dont' proceed, it will only get worse when they become your employer. I agree with Sakhifa on this. I can speak only on the experience of myself and my Western acquaintances, but the case seems to be this. If you have an MA and the experience to amplify your certs, you will either be one of the lucky ones who makes a pretty sick salary, or you will find employers that want what you have, but don't want to pay your worth. I got completely lowballed on my first position here. My commissions were *supposed* to make up for the meager salary, but in the end, I found out they were fudging the sales numbers to try and get away with paying me less. Didn't take long to figure out, as I was head of marketing and sales. I resigned on the spot and promptly received a 1 year ban. Didn't matter that I took the documentation to the MOL and exposed just how screwed I had been. Everyone seems to have friends, you know? So my advice is along the lines of other posters here--do not take a BS offer and stick to your guns, because working for peanuts 6 days a week will just drive you insane; don't expect employers to make good on their promises of raises once you've "proven" yourself. Eeek, that's awful - and [b'>you[/b'> got a 1 year ban because of this!!? Thanks for the reminder, I've heard a lot of these empty promises.

Thanks for your feedback Oopsiedaisy and Sakhifa. I was starting to wonder if it had anything to do with being a married female in my early 30s! I think my salary expectations are realistic and fair, perhaps I just need to bite the bullet and take a 6 day week!
