Hello again kitty that is interesting, I had to make the decision the morning of my flight to come back (had the leave an older ds in the UK) I will see how I feel on the run up to christmas. The most I have learnt in all of this is how much I value my friends and family and the UK really is a lovely place to live most of the time.

Hi ladies, just wondered if any of you are struggling to settle back in after being away for the summer, I have returned after being in the UK for 8 weeks, had such a lovely time I am finding it hard coming back here, I know I will be okay in 3/4 weeks ( I hope) :)

I had an elective section for my third as my first birth was a great experience bit of a shock as I was quite young but felt very happy afterwards, my second birth 10 years later was so quick (I know that sounds like most mothers idea of heaven) but I was so shocked afterwards in the way that it happened I had flashbacks and had trouble bonding with the baby so when I was due to give birth again 19 months later I went for the elective c section and for me it was a great experience even with a 19 month old very lively toddler to look after with no help I was still much happier and calmer after the section, I do agree you don't get the high of being able to hop off the bed straight after the birth feeling like the only woman on the planet to have given birth however that only lasted a matter of weeks and for me the mental effects of giving birth naturally went on for much longer, it is a very hard decision I am happy to chat more if you need to, best of luck, oh I would have a section again if I get lucky enough to have another x

Frenchy, I have had the worst night last night with my. DH snoring makes me not want to call him DH but something else, anyway we don't have a spare room at the mo as we have guests so I had to get in with the two DDs last night and it was awful, I always panic if we are going somewhere without a spare room as I don't hesitate to go into the spare bed, I am sure DH doesn't realise how bad it is and I am making it out to be worse than it is but it is awful and so loud and he would snore in any sleeping position, so no advise really other than to say you must get your sleep wherever you can and don't feel guilty,, your lucky if you can get him to go to the spare bed it is always me wondering around the house pillow under arm looking for somewhere to sleep in the middle of the night, I am so looking forward to three weeks in the UK with me and the children for some SLEEEP :)

On Gulf News a few people have said agree from safety point but we have 2 or 3 kids how do we get seats in....hum mm. Nicedaynat are you asking how you can fit in three car seats?

Hi, They do read some Oxford tree reading but they also read lots of other books it is a real mix but lots of children like to start with the biff, chip, kipper it's a great start, my two DD,s are just coming to the end of FS2 and year 2 having started last September and they have had fantastic year and have loved every second! I can't really fault the school in anyway. :)

I would mom of twins, my 7 year old DD is in a car seat with adult belt I would use a minimum of a booster seat we have a near miss nearly every time we are in the car so it is important to make them as safe as you can.;)

So very true children are like pebbles they just go straight down with no noise, it happend to my DD when she was three we were on holiday and she was in one of those blow up boats with a cross seat section in the bottom she had jumped into it but missed the seat and fallen straight through it, there were so many people about but nobody saw her do it, it was only seconds that she was at the bottom of the pool but at the time it seemed like longer we were very lucky and my DH jumped in and she was fine. Both my DDs had swimming lessons after that.

Good morning! It sounds like a lovely job, we have had our maid for just over a month now and so far so good, she was new to Dubai and had never even been a housemaid but she is a hard worker and has no expectations or bad attitude, at first I was worried as she had no experience or reference (she is a mother) but after our first one (with experience and reference) didnt work out I was happy to try this, if you like I will ask her if she knows anybody, we live on the Palm so we have no public transport but I think it is better to be with a nice family over all, as for the room size some maids dont even have their own room and have to share with the child, as for the house being too big well they just sound work shy, I also have a friend in JI who has a maid so I will ask if her maid maybe has any friends looking for work also, dont worry you will find someone.

Thank you everyone so much for all the help it has made me realise that I must go with my gut and she is going, I talked to my DH who like I said doesnt think its a massive problem and everyone deserves a second chance however every time I look at her I remember how she lied and I cant live like this. If I am not happy to leave her alone with the children even when they asleep what is the point, also we have o go back to our home country in a few weeks and leave her alone for a week and I was even worried about doing that. I hope farasha you have managed to find an honest person after that experience how awfull! I am sure there are many lovely helpers out there its just finding them. edited by thompson1 on 10/02/2011
