Chelle we are feeling quite warm too! Same tower. Our ac is normally awesome so calling up to see if anyone knows what is going on. They say it's a building wide problem. They think it will be fixed soon, take that with a grain of salt!!! ;)

Sounds good Polly! Note went up about the delayed works on the pool, implying the company that was contracted was no more. The note said they'd contracted someone else and this week there have been loads of guys down there and the work has been moving at an incredible rate, lol. Looks nearly done, but I am no expert!!!

There are a few schools that pay up to 20,000dhs + benefits depending on status for regular teachers with some experience. As others have said, it varies greatly between schools. Different schools also have different levels of benefits and different rules about who is eligible for them.

Oooh hope the pool is sorted soon, I'm possibly moving there next week. Just waiting (and waiting..) for my school to confirm it. There are 2 pools shelders, the other one is still open. Even if you live right up this end it's less than a 5 minute stroll along the podium level to get there. Still wish they would get it all sorted though!

I went to aramex something from the UK a few weeks ago and they told me not to seal it as it would be checked. I didn't use their services in the end!!

Crouqets are also nice but not as good as those little heart attack balls.

I keep ordering the spicy sausage one. Didn't like the chicken pesto one. Have you tried the tiny little cheese balls??? They must have about 1000 calories in but they are so delicious!!!

They had not retiled, they took up the tiles, then put the black sealing stuff on, the filled it (I assume for testing). So it was nowhere near finished, it looked really odd black and full. Then they drained it, a guy was there tileing the edges but that also seems to have stopped now. Hmm Thai is my fave, I hope it's nice!

The reason DC get good results is because it is a selective school: the kids that go there can loosely be compared to grammar school kids in the UK and therefore should be getting good results. [u'>[b'>If you want to know if a school is good what you should be looking at is value added. How much better are kids achieving compared to a standardised predictor? Although I doubt schools are going to share that info with you.[/b'>[/u'> As for the original question, it doesn't just depend on the school it depends on the teacher. Some schools which are perceived to be amongst the best in Dubai have teachers which range from outstanding to down right incompetent. Same for the not so well thought of schools..... ETA some kids return to the UK for A levels so that they stand a better chance of getting cheaper university fees. edited by summer breeze on 30/08/2012 edited by summer breeze on 30/08/2012 [u'>You think they have that here? :\:[/u'> edited by spongemonkey on 31/08/2012 You think they don't?

We went to the Thai place, I cant remember how posh it was but I think even Saffron was more shoes and jeans would probably be ok. Have you got the entertainer? Pretty sure there are vouchers in there. We are going again soon and will probably just have room service by our pool. Enjoy and report back! Space in the fridge, but as per uaual not a great fridge so better if it goes in coldish. edited by TOLB on 08/08/2012

I tried the pizza from Rossivivo the other night (it's in one of the SZR towers nearby). Delivery was SO fast, 19minutes I am not kidding you. I am no big fan of pizza but it was nice, thin crust, the Diavolo I really liked. The croquettes were tasty (if a bit naughty!) Has anyone triend the feet/massage place round the back yet? And has anyone found recycling close by?

Yes there is a mini bar, usual prices if not more expenssive. We always take our own. Check in is 3pm and there is no main pool area. You can use the beach cub before hand if you wish, it's about 20mins away (hot now though!) You can also use the spa area which is usually incuded (facilities only) which I quite like, it's called the rainforest experience and has a big pool (indoor) and many different jacuzzis, saunas and other bits and pieces. I would do this before check in or after check out.
