Come & enjoy the Dubai weather.... But for most people, specially when you are a tourist, nobody checks. Just in case you get into any trouble. Legally you should have some evidence. Good luck!

One of my friend used to enjoy ABN Amro in olden days. But I guess I would try with Citibank, if I were you. My experience with HSBC was not pleasant either.

Recently when I was looking for an apartment, I had the following checks: Natural light in most house, Balcony must be lockable, Chiller AC, good maintenance, Gym, road access, supermarket, neighborhood, park for my 3 years old boy. Make sure who fixes things for you at home knows his job well. I have had 2 accidents thus far. Things fixed on the wall but just fall cause he didn't put it strong enough. I guess I will have to learn to do it myself one day.

It depends on company and the deal that you made at the time of joining. It gets even more complicated when the you and your DH is from different continents. None the less, one common thread, no fixed rule for family.

The banks are printing blank cheque in the CC form itself now-a-days. I recently experienced the same. When I asked why, they said they will open a dummy account on my name and this check will basically reflect as if I issued from that account. In case of default they will present that cheque. As far as news in the Gulf News is very confusing. One day they said one thing and next day changed it also. Pay your CC on time, every time. Once got into minimum payment, means in the trap.

No clue on this one but i can tell you what I did. I got my blood checked and the doctor told me if reason of weight for me was Carb or fat. For me it was Carb. I went down on carb intake & it helped me drop down so well. I like how i look now. Though the test costed me a bomb, AED 5,000/- aprox.

This is a tricky one. I know some people who have companies in freezones like fujairah and operating in Dubai or Abu Dhabi. If the company has FZE or FZCO at the end that mean they are from freezone. If they have EST or LLC of PJSC that means they are mainland companies. Hope it helps.

Sorry to know what you have at hand. But "Undo" button is missing in life. Got to face what we got. Honestly I am not much of a planner but my husband is good at it. I see most advises I saw him giving to his friends, are already listed here. So nothing new that I could add but I must say if you want to make it through, it is only by planning, control & Prayers. I guess one day Financial Literacy will be a subject at school for people like me & you.
