DD and DS school closes on the 28th June for one day and they are back on 29th/30th June, then break up for summer holidays. I thought the holiday falls on the 28th and not the 30th?

because muslims follow the lunar calendar (please correct if im wrong) this holiday moves back approximately 10 days every year this must be why its not been noticed in the school holiday previously.

Don't Panic!!! Mine took three weeks and four days, got it back last week. By the way what I noticed is that they don't ring you before delivery, they just turn up. Thankfully I was in.

I read somewhere that if your travelling to your home country you should have a valid passport but its not essential that you should have six months. Also if you renew they add the remaining months onto the new passport. edited by Worldgirl on 02/05/2011

Thanks for all your input.. Will get her to get a second opinion. Definitely sure that she wont be going down the hysterectomy route. I think its so much easy in your home country (her's being UK) to get your head round it. Thanks again

She was given two options either a hysterectomy then nothing would grow back or keyhole and was actually told that there is a possibility of it growing back in a couple of years... She is so confused..

I know that last year alot of parents removed their kids (Year 1, 2 and 3) from the International school to the British school, because the standard of education was not too good!!

Thanks ladies: She has had a ultrascan and has been told that its 5cm. The only time that it is affecting her is when she is on her periods she is literally on all fours during this time. Been adviced by the doctor to have keyhole surgery to remove it otherwise it will only get bigger and give her more problem i.e pain. Do you think that she should get a second opinion?

Hi Goose I don't if know if you know this but their is a RAKESS (BC) School opposite the RAKESS International School. The Primary school is good my two children went their. All the teachers are from the UK. You are right majority of the children are locals but I also know that some of the classes are segregated i.e for expat and local kids due to level of learning. The head Wesley Hughes at the BC Primary is great and approachable. We left RAK only for secondary schooling, otherwise its a good place to be. Let me know if I can help?

Went yesterday had a great time... definitely go back. Only problem was that my 7 year old was too tall for a child entrance and got a blue wrist band instead of red and was not able to play in the Kids cove and the other rides were too fast for her. I think they need another colour in between maybe. Definitely recommend it P.S. not many european expats live in RAK

Thanks Ladies As i live in VH and even though MOE is not that far, I have three kids and no 4x4 would find it a nightmare to take both the bike and kids... Was hoping that someone maybe knew someone who repairs locally.

Went today after school hoping that it won't be hectic as the weekend, but it was totally packed out. Managed to squeeze in on the second floor. I think the entrance for the young kids opens at 3.30p.m. and even then they are long queues..

the areas on Al Filayah Road (sp) i used to have a friend living in the Granada compound last year and the villas looked good and spacious. Also some villa's have private pools and compound pools. Lots of European families with children most of the kids go to RAKESS (BC) or RAKESS (PYP) school literally opposite each other and theres a number of nursery's in that area.

If my memory serves me right, I think the Granada complex/compound is close the the lantern roundabout and RAK Hospital, don't know the exact name of the area though. If that is correct you will need transport to and from, approx 10min to carrfour or safeer mall.

Spinneys white sandwich loaf which is baked in the store is definitely as good as bread in the UK. I went without bread for a whole year until I discovered the white loaf.
