There we were DH and I staying up late to watch the thrilling episode after Ronnie walks up to Kat and Alfie in the pub and hands over the kidnapped Tommy (Weds episode)......but as we watched the clock strike 11.15pm last night, we were mortified to see that there was no usual Eastenders!!! Instead we had some 1980's Fools and Horses episode....WTF! Where was that episode and does anyone know if Orbit changed the show schedule? I also find that when I record a film from Orbit, it never records the last 10mins...the crucial bit. Jackie Brown, and Minority report were the two that stopped recording as we got to the crucial bit........Pbbbbtt!!! I don't watch Eastenders here through local TV, we watch via the BBC iplayer. Eastenders here must be several weeks ahead here than in the UK which I find very unusual as the episode when Ronnie hands the baby back to Kat and Alfie is not due to happen until around Easter? I watched the episode from BBC1 last night and it was the one where Kat and Alfie separate.

I totally agree with the death sentence in relation to these sort of crimes, especially when children are the victims. It sickens me when I read stories of young children being abused, raped and in some cases murdered (such as what Nifaoilean mentions below). Anyone who conducts these despicable crimes in my eyes deserves nothing less than a capital punishment sentence. Since I've become a mother my belief in this punishment has strengthened, especially when I look at my own children and what I would feel if this had happened to them. My DH is utterly against the death penalty and we've had several debates about the rights and wrongs of capital punishment. In regard to this crime, I hope Moosa's family can now move forward and grieve for their little boy knowing justice has now been done. Rest in peace little one. edited by Zannie on 10/02/2011

Thanks Claire, forgot about Sharaf up the other end. Will give them a look too before I decide on the one! The repair men currently have our current machine and waiting for the go ahead from me to fix or not. So guess they will keep and re-condition, not worth them bringing back unless they have to.

So is this an automatic addition to the bill, or do they ask if you require assistance before they total the bill? Just wondered if this is billed to everybody regardless if you have a trolley load or a carrier bag?

We haven't got a Will here in the UAE. We don't have a property here, but have had two children since moving here, which worries us. I know EW have had a copy of evenings regarding Wills, but been unable to make it. Can anyone recommend a Wills specialist and what sort of price we'd expect to pay?

They did have an LG one, not sure if 'Direct Drive" it was around 1250AED, so will go back and have a look. TBH, I'm very much leaning towards a new one. As long as they deliver ASAP, my washing is resembling a Munro at the moment!!

could you give me an indication of price at all please? It's approx. about 400AED per panel depending on the damage, if you speak to Martyn, he'll be able to give you a good indication. There's no obligation.

Give Prodent a call. They are a British run/owned dent and paint specialist company. They are mobile, so will come to you. Speak to Martyn, 050 240 2899 and he'll be able to advise. Tell them Suzanne recommended them. They are brilliant. We had some scratches and small dents in our car which they sorted within an hour and were very reasonable too. They don't need a police report for any work.

I have the In-laws visiting next month. They have been several times to Dubai before, so looking at different things to do with them. Thought of visiting AD for the day, however, apart from a event I went to there a few years ago, we have never visited there. Shame I know after living 6 years in Dubai!! So, for a day with two young children (2 and 4) and two early 70's in-laws and ourselves, what can we do? MiL isn't interested in shopping malls, but loves souks and things? Any ideas will be grateful. We don't want to drive into Abu Dhabi and end up spending the day at Marina Mall!!;)

Then you'll need to pop down to the big DEWA office near Wafi with copy of your current lease. Has to be done in person. Doesn't take long. We did it a few months back.

It's 5% of your yearly rent divided into 12 equal instalments. Check your bill and make sure you're paying the correct housing fee, if not, take a copy of your lease to the DEWA office near Wafi and they will re-adjust it and credit you if you've been paying too much.

I recommend Jebel Ali village Nursery. They have several based around town. My DD goes to the Marina branch based in Bahar 1 in JBR. They have branches in Jebel Ali Village, Meadows and Umm Sequim and the Marina. They are very popular, so go and check them out and if you like them get your child signed up ASAP.

I'm having the same problem with my almost two year old DS. He refuses to eat fruit and vegetables, he has turned super fussy. I'll cook a lovely meal for him and he'll tip his bowl up and it'll go all over the floor. Whcih is so, so frustrating. He'd survive on chocolate and chicken nuggets if he had his way. This obviously worries me at my DD is a very good eater. I have the Annabel Karmel books, which are great, so going to start making lots of meals for them for them. Will check out the other sites to.

Just to add, in case you didn't know, that you can get arrested/fined in certain European airports for carrying a fake designer handbag. Is it worth the risk? I think that is just Paris?

I've bought dozens of bags in Karama and all have been of fantastic quality. You basically get what you pay for. I've been going to the same guy for 6 years and he always gives me a good price and assurance if anything goes wrong with the bag, he will exchange for me. I have two genuine fake Chanel bags, and they have lasted very well. Both are leather and considering how often I use them, hardly a mark on them. Even my friend who wouldn't be seen dead with a fake, was really impressed by the quality. For a decent medium size leather bag, expect to pay from 300-350AED upwards. There is definitely room for bargaining on the price.

We signed up after watching these programmes. How shocking was it to watch fisherman having to throw over 50% of their catch back into the North Sea and nothing they can do about it because of EU fishing restrictions. Most of which were the "endangered" Cod. What idiot thought these restrictions up, it makes no sense at all. Found it quite moving at times for the fishermen and the amount of poor dead fish that was basically wasted. Most of w

Which Fitness First gyms in Dubai have pools? Just joined the one in Ibn Battuta for 329AEd per month. It's the committed 12 month plan. You have to pay 2 months upfront (1st month and last month). Thought it was a good deal considering everything is inclusive.

Thanks Snickers, we looked at that hotel on Trip Advisor and had a fab write-up. Shame they don't have a kids club. My two will be 4 and 2 when we potentially go, so not sure if they would even be old enough for one?? Not worried about going in the sea, so not a problem there. I liked the area as didn't seem too far away from the airport as some places are over 5 hours drive away!! This area about 100kms from the airport, so better with the LO's. Do they have places where you can see elephants and stuff nearby?

We used them to to put some pictures up a few years back. Did a terrible job. Just tacked on nails into the wall chipping plaster off at the same time (I could have done that myself) and they took ages. Ended up getting Emrill in a few days later to redo it all and they did a wonderful job and took half the time. edited by Zannie on 14/01/2011

I've plugged in via firewire/USB and I can't specify what to import as it doesn't appear as an option Zannie's DH here ;) I work in TV and I do a lot of video editing on my MacBook Pro using a mini-DV camcorder as a source, but I use Final Cut Studio rather than iMovie. Firstly, make sure you've definitely got the camcorder plugged into the computer via a Firewire cable, not USB; you will need a 4-pin to 6-pin Firewire cable. Which version of iMovie are you using? It should automatically recognise the camera when you turn it on, but if it doesn't, there are various possible reasons for this. The camcorder usually won't show up in the Finder, you will only be able to access it through your video capture/editing application.
