I agree, Pronovias were horrid, made what should have been an exciting experience one of the most unpleasant through sheer rudeness. The other 2 mentioned are much better though I'd advise ringing ahead and making an appointment so you can try on dresses. Also have a look at 'high street' stores that do long white dresses, you may be surprised at how much that increases your options in Dubai. Galleries La Fayette, SAKS etc usually have a few options too. Happy hunting! :-)

Any particular shop/name/number in Dragon Mart? I've heard the curtains/blinds are great and well priced from there but don't know where to start - went up last weekend and was overwhelmed by the choice and somewhat extravagant designs! TIA :)

Dr Elsa at City Hospital - a good friend of mine saw her for endometriosis and was very happy. I know she is very popular for deliveries though so it can be quite difficult to get appointments with her. Good luck, hope you get some effective treatment soon x

Shop and ship enables you to buy online from stores/sites typically in the US/UK that do not ship internationally. Basically your set up fee gets you a PO box address in the US and one on the UK so you can ship domestically to them when you order online. Shop and Ship then send everyhting from this PO BOX to the UAE and you can collect or have it delivered from ARAMEX. 2 things to note: If you order a number of things they will ship each package back to the UAE individually and this can add to up to quite hefty sums! Some websites will not ship to a PO BOX address, best to check before you spend hours putting an order through to have it rejected at the last step!

Try www.worldnomads.com - I've used them for over 10 years, all internet based, and you don't have to be a UK resident. You can select the level of coverage you want using drop down menus. Never had an issue and can access all policies online whenever you want.

Have you tried Lime Tree? Their cakes are to die for - best carrot cake in Dubai ! ...and definitely cheaper than Dhs 500! I had some at someone's house a few months ago and they had one cake for adults and one that was more kiddie friendly (with colorful decorations etc)
