Let’s face it — eating raw veggies is boring. And things are especially gruelling if you’re a fan of everything meaty.

Sure, mixing chicken and bacon in your salads add some solace but there is STILL a lot of hard-to-chew, bland-tasting greens left to up your green ante.

So what do we, the innocent chicken-loving peeps do? We make a vegetable charcuterie.

What is charcuterie?

Now before you Google, Charcuterie is the branch of cooking devoted to prepared meat products, such as bacon, ham, sausage, served with cheese and pickles.

Since 2017 is all about eating healthy. Chefs around the worlds are serving a charcuterie — minus the meat. Traditional ham, cheese and turkey chunks are replaced with beautiful green veggies, fresh fruits, berries and served with dips made of yoghurt and hummus.

These big messy and sexy veggie boards are already trending on social feeds. Many restaurants in the US have already perfected the art of creating colourful boards using various techniques such as blurring, smoking, roasting and pickling.

The beauty of this colourful board lies in its simplicity.

You don’t need to be a 5-star chef to create your own platter of healthy appetisers. A thinly sliced arrangement of season’s vegetables and fruits topped with some seasoning like vinegar, lemon, salt and black pepper will do the job.

Serve it with jalapeno dip, hummus or seasoned yoghurt and you're all ready to enjoy your Pinterest-worthy moment of fame.
