Of all the delectable and affordable street foods in South Asia — biryani has been and continues to rule millions of hearts across the globe. This symbolic dish is more of a phenomenon than a mere food item.

Maybe it’s the tenderly cooked meat, the velvety potatoes or maybe it’s the irresistibly fluffy, fragrant steaming basmati rice, soaked in a mint chutney that wins hearts, but it’s rare to find someone who doesn’t love the scrumptious blend of meat, rice and spices.

With the holy month of Ramadan just around the corner, we scoured YouTube to find the easiest homemade version of chicken biryani that can be cooked within an hour. Watch Chef Varun Inamdar of YouTube channel @GetCurried as he creates a simplified yet equally delicious version of this classic dish.
