how to get ready quickly

Beauty is WORK. Between getting our nails done, hair done, hair removed, cleansing, toning, moisturizing etc. etc. it can all become a little overbearing. There are few beauty habits, however, that are popular even though they do nothing for you.

Here are 6 of them.

1. Styling your hair everyday

Not only does the heat from styling tools damage your hair, it is immensely time consuming. If you have your hair styled on day 1, you can use dry shampoo and bring it back to life on day 2 and you can restyle it into a topknot/braid.

2. Exfoliating everyday

Exfoliating is a great way to get rid of dead skin and is an absolute must when it comes to taking care of your skin. However, too much of a good thing can be bad. Exfoliating once-twice a week is MORE than enough.

Over-exfoliation can irritate/inflame your skin.

3. Bubble baths

No one is denying the relaxation feels that a bubble bath brings. However, they do no favours for your skin. Detergents used to create bubbles often contain alcohol/ drying soap that can rip the skin of moisture.

4. Plucking eyebrows

Bushy brows are in and there is no bigger waste of time than plucking eyebrows. Let your eyebrows grow and get them professionally shaped/threaded every few weeks.

5. Cutting your cuticles

This may come as a shock to most - but you are not supposed to cut your cuticles! Cuticles prevent your nail from getting infected. If you cut too much you are literally inviting the bacteria in. Simply push down or trim your cuticles.

6. Buffing your nails

Buffing your nails before every manicure will eventually cause your nails to thin out. Not to mention that buffing does absolutely nothing for your nails. Nail polish adheres best to smooth nails, not buffed ones.
