#GeodeHair Is The Next Level Of The Rainbow Hair Trend

The year 2017 started with the world’s unanimous obsession with everything unicorn — hair dyes, eye makeup, nail art, highlighters, cakes, cookies, pasta — you name it. 4 months into the year and we’ve finally (and thankfully) moved on to another magical trend: Geode hair.

So far, there has been geode lip art, nail art and now we have geode hair — deep, rich and gorgeously iridescent shades of purple, blue and green painted on hair to give it a magical ombre effect.

The perfect blend of shades mimics the interior of crystal geodes for a bright new look that's classy enough to turn heads but not garish as to look like candy floss. The hair colour starts from the ends and goes upward — finishing with a darker and more natural colour at the roots. The hair looks bright in light and takes on a dull shade in the dark.

According to Los Angeles-based stylist Cherin Choi, "The hair is completely dried, then the amethyst purple is applied on the midsections, then the moonstone blue onto the very tips."

Hair enthusiasts can opt for bright hues of amethyst or the subtle softer tones of rose-gold.

And unlike rainbow hair, you don’t need to completely bleach your hair to get this glowing look; it only requires the hair to be lightened and coloured with one or two shades that are blended by hand.
