best highlighters 2016

Like 2015 was the year of contouring, 2016 has been the year of highlighting. Highlighters are a great way to add a glow to your face - but use too much and you start to look like a disco ball (not about that life).

We bring you a roundup of highlighters that will make you look like you glow, not sparkle.

Benefit - Watt's Up

This soft focus cream-to-powder highlighter is an oldie but a goodie. A favourite of Mario Dedavonic (Kim Kardashian's makeup artist) this highlighter is perfect for a subtle yet luminous champagne toned highlight.

BECCA x Jaclyn Hill - Champagne Pop

This list would be incomplete without a BECCA product - they are renowned for their highlighters! Champagne Pop, created in collaboration with beauty guru Jaclyn Hill was meant to be a limited edition product, but it broke all sales records and was made permanent (with good reason). This is the perfect champagne-golden glow and works on all skin tones except the extremely pale ones. If you have very fair skin you can opt for the shade Pearl or Moonstone.

Hourglass - Ambient Lighting Palette

If it is the glowing-from-within highlight that you are chasing, get the Ambient Lighting Palette. The powders deliver a multidimensional luminescence to every skin tone, making it appear softer and lit from within. The finishing powders enhance skin in any type of light, including flash photography. With three universal shades available in the palette, you can create any desired effect. Highly recommended for brides!

Too Faced - Snow Bunny Luminous Bronzer

If you are olive skin-toned, this is your highlighter! Even though the product's name suggests it's a bronzer - it works best as a highlighter for darker skin-tones. The silky golden-bronze warmth combined with a delicate pink, white shimmer, and fawn shimmer mimics a natural just-back-from-vacation glow.

Custom FX - Custom Enhancer Drops

No product got as much love from the beauty world in 2016 as this one. Available in 6 shades, these illuminating drops can be mixed with foundation for a subtle glow or used straight up if you want to blind those around you #HighlightOnFleek.
