Queen Elizabeth made a surprise appearance at London Fashion Week autumn/winter 2018, as the Queen attended her first LFW to present designer Richard Quinn with the inaugural Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design. The Queen was spotted laughing with the queen of fashion Anna Wintour, on the front row of LFW, as wonder what she thought of the runway collection?!

Richard Quinn's AW18 show was overtaken by the special guest, Her Majesty the Queen, as all eyes were on the 91 year old, rather than the fashion. Still, the Queen seemed to enjoy Quinn’s vibrant and eccentric collection of bold floral patterns, oversized puffa jackets, motorcycle helmets and foil ball gowns. As the Queen was able to experience the inventive young fashion talent and craftsmanship of the British fashion industry.

The Queen was dressed in pastel blue, with a stylish silver finish and a classic signature broach, as she didn’t look out of place on the front row of London Fashion Week!

The Royal Family detailed via Twitter that the Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design will be "initiated in recognition of the role the fashion industry plays in society and diplomacy, [and] be awarded annually to an emerging British fashion designer who shows talent and originality, whilst demonstrating value to the community and/or sustainable policies."

Whilst the Queen was at LFW, Her Majesty also explored the BFC's designer showrooms space, met fashion industry experts and some of London’s most talented young designers. As London Fashion Week’s famous front row guest list reached a royal new height in 2018!
