Saudi Arabia continues its new chapter with the announcement that the Kingdom will host its first Arab Fashion Week in Riyadh next month. On behalf of the Dubai-based Arab Fashion Council, HH Princess Noura bint Faisal Al Saud announced the news in London on Monday, as Saudi Arabia’s first fashion week will take place from March 26th to March 31st at Riyadh's eco-friendly Apex Centre, designed by the late Zaha Hadid.

The news follows Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s desire to reform the country's dependence on oil and empower more women, after lifting the ban on female drivers and allowing women into sports stadiums, Saudi Arabia has also recently opened cinemas for the first time in 35 years. As the country will now showcase an international fashion week for the first time.

Arab Fashion Week is already popular in Dubai, as Saudi Arabian designers such as Arwa Al Banawi and Mashael Alrajhi, have previously impressed on the runway.

In fact, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is home to many talented fashion designers as last year’s Fashion Forward at Dubai Design District saw collections from Saudi fashion designers such as Royaled by RH, Sadeem, modest womenswear by Utruj and a bridal collection from Sara Altwaim.

Fashion Forward also saw Saudi designer Mashael Alrajhi use the Nike Hijab Pro in her runway collection, as we’re excited to see what fashion the region will feature during Saudi Arabia’s Arab Fashion Week. Although details regarding the line-up of Saudi Arabia’s first Arab Fashion Week are yet to be announced, we’ve got an insight into just some of the fashion talent and craftsmanship which could be on show next month.
