Chokers are not the only 90s trend that have made a comeback. Velvet, a quintessential 90s trend, has come back in a big way - ruling the runways from Milan to Paris to New York.
Here's how to work this trend:
One item of velvet is enough
A velvet dress with velvet shoes and a velvet bag…. no, just no.
Work with accents
Instead of wearing a velvet dress/top/skirt, opt for velvet shoes or bags – this is a great way to add a touch of velvet without going overboard.
Opt for dark tones
Pulling off velvet in lighter shades is not everyone’s cup of tea – stick to midnight blues, charcoal blacks and deep maroons if you want to play it safe.
Accessorise wisely
It is very easy to go overboard when it comes to velvet, so accessorise your look wisely. A deep neckline would be best suited for a layered necklace, while a high neckline would work best with chandelier earrings and statement bracelets.
