Some home design ideas that look amazing in pictures, on blogs and on Pinterest don't quite work out in real life. We bring you a list of 6 such home features that are beautiful to look at, but a pain in your backside to maintain:
1. Claw-foot bathtubs
Vintage bathtubs make your bathroom look opulent, but they often have a non-porous surface that requires careful cleaning.

2. Vessel sinks
Because the sink is raised, it needs to be cleaned more often than a regular sink. Also, you need to be careful when you turn the faucet on or else there's water droplets flying all over the place.

3. Open shelves
Not only do open shelves need to be arranged perfectly all the time so that they look good, they also need to be cleaned more than closed cabinets as the items on the shelves attract dust.

4. Chalkboard walls
Once you paint a wall with chalkboard paint, you are stuck with it. It is immensely difficult to override chalkboard paint.

5. Bed against a window
Sometimes due to lack of space, people push their beds against a wall to create a cosy nook and also have more space. However, be prepared to move your bed every time you want to make it.

6. White furniture
White furniture is so pretty and pristine looking, but let's be real - it's far easier to hide a spaghetti stain on a black couch.
