Turn Backyard Into Retreat

It is finally that time in Dubai when you can go into your backyard and not feel like you are on the Sun. Make the most of it by turning your backyard into a tranquil retreat.

1. Start with a focal point: The focal point depends on what you are going to use the outdoor area for. Is it going to an area for swimming, entertaining guests or quiet relaxation?
2. Add an architectural element: Adding an architectural element like a pergola, an arbour or a gazebo makes a visual statement in your outdoor area. Light up these areas so that you can enjoy them in the nighttime too.
3. Choose indulgent, relaxing seating: Consider lounging chairs, outdoor daybeds, over-sized love-seats and plenty of table side areas for your fruity drinks!
4. Amp up the ambience: It can be challenging to create an ambience without any walls. However, ambience can be created in an outdoor area by using fire pits, lanterns and chimineas and standalone bars.

Here are some pictures of gorgeous backyards to inspire you.

Relaxing Outdoor Living Room

Your outdoor living space could be centred on stunning outdoor seating area in a pergola/gazebo. The seating area itself could be centred on a fire pit. The area could be lit up with lanterns and sconces. Trust us, good lighting is key.

Serene Spa

The focal feature here is a pool. To add a more luxurious feel this area could also include water fountains and hot tubs (for a more spa-like feel). The area pictured has a beautiful and creative seating area that compliments the pool beautifully.

Tropical Paradise

Landscaping is the focal point of a tropical paradise. Elephant ears, variegated hostas, philodendrons, gunnera, palms are a few examples of large leafy plants that would create a beautiful tropical paradise. Orchids, hibiscus, and alpinia work very well to add colour and complement the plants. Minimalistic furniture and accents would be your best bet as they will let the landscaping do all the talking.
