A new international survey by InterNations, the world’s largest network of expats has confirmed that there is no exact formula to achieve happiness while living abroad.
A survey of 14,300 expats revealed that personal happiness has little to do with working hours, infrastructure or huge paychecks. But it has everything to do with the culture, friendly locals, cost of living and personal satisfaction.
Some of the countries that made it to the top of the list have long working hours and don’t rally guarantee safety of life but they still rate high on the personal satisfaction meter. In case you’re looking to shift — see if the following countries do the trick for you.
10. Spain
Cheap accommodations, vibrant lifestyle and low transport costs makes Spain a popular spot for westerners looking to get away from the cold and sometimes hard life.

9. Panama
For those who can manage the language barrier — Panama is a hive for service economy jobs, including finance and infrastructure. Pay goes a long way and the good weather is a plus.
