10 Things Flight Attendants Want You To Stop Doing

Flight attendants do not have it easy. Long hours, days away from family, and rude, drunk passengers are just a few things they deal with on a day-to-day basis.

If these flight attendants could let their smile and guard down, here are 8 things they would say to you.

1. Go easy on the booze

Let's start with the obvious one - no one likes handling drunk people, especially not at 30,000 feet in the air.

2. If you don't have a first class ticket, don't try to sit in first class.

You see an empty first class seat and want to sneakily move to it - but guess what? The flight attendants are ALWAYS watching you. Save yourself the humiliation of being escorted back to your seat in coach.

3. Don't snap your fingers to get the flight attendant's attention

The flight attendant WILL get to you - there is no need to snap, hoot or whistle to get their attention.

4. Don't change your baby's diaper on the tray table.

Fun fact: tray tables are rarely cleaned. Not only is it unsanitary for your baby, it is also unsanitary and disgusting for the people who use the table after.

5. Remember that you're on a plane, not in a restaurant.

If you can only have gluten-free or dairy-free meals, please realise that the flight crew may not be able to accommodate you. All dietary requests must be made before the flight to avoid disappointment.

Flipping out on the flight attendant mid-air for not getting the food of your choice is going to lead nowhere.

6. Don't hand them your dirt.

Flight attendants will come around with a trash bag to throw your dirt in - do not hand them your dirty tissues. Just don't.

7. If your luggage doesn't fit in the overhead compartment, don't get mad at the flight attendant.

If you've been on an aeroplane before you know there is limited space in the overhead compartments. Plan ahead and if your bag still doesn't fit know that yelling at the flight attendant is not going to make any difference. Your bag still won't fit.

8. Switch your phone/laptop off!

Flight attendants have no personal vendetta against your calls/work. The rules call for them to tell you to put your electronics away during takeoff and landing.

So even if it is a 'really important email', it's just going to have to wait.
