im feeling a lot calmer now thanks- its the nights i dread. LOL how dramatic is that- but honestly once the distractions of the day are over, this is all i can think about.
Anyway weve decided she can remain in nursery as a back up- and in the meantime we are going to put forward our applications to JESS (i know impossible right? but with husbands company debenture we might be in with a shot- heres to hoping!)
and were also gonna apply to Regent International school (didnt love it, but prefer it over keeping her in nursery) Would love to hear if anyone has a child at the school and what they think.
Thanks again for the support and advice.
Argh forget that last question- I just spoke to the admissions at JAP and she basically very honestly said they have already started assessments for fs2 2013!! N the waiting list is such that I really shouldn't bother applying as there is 'no chance' , but I could put our name down for year 1 in 2014!
Is it me or does any one else think that all this is just feeling a bit farcical. She's not even 3years for gods sake! N we don't even know how long we'll be in Dubai- :s
Thanks ladies
My Daughter is currently at jebel Ali nursery in JBR they don't have FS1 as far as I've been told- but she can remain there till 4 yrs. I have the added problem of not driving- n am shocked to find there are no schools in the marina area (despite the large no of young families here) wherever my DD ends up going to school, we will either have to hire a driver or move closer. Which is adding extra stress to this whole situation.
But just to understand- FS1 is not compulsory in the british education system right? ( if I can remember back correctly I went to reception class @4yrs) is that the same thing as fs2? And aside from the difficulty of finding fs2 places (for the reasons highlighted by Sant ) the schools can't actually refuse on the basis that DD hasn't completed fs1?
Does anyone know if she has any chance of getting into fs2 for JAP? When I spoke to them they said waiting lists r very long n they have closed applications. Should I insist on putting forward n application?
Wow this has been an interesting read to say the least! Just wanted to add my two cents worth. My Husband grew up in one of the roughest boroughs in London (hackney) and went to one of the worst schools imaginable (it doesn't even exist any more, they shut it down! However he was a naturally smart lad- and worked his ass off -(highest A level law, results in the country, you can c I'm v proud ;) got into Oxford. My point being that of course we all want to give our kids the best chances in life and the best start- but ultimately it comes down to smarts, hard work and determination. Teach them that ethos and they will flourish no matter what life throws at them.
