Feel your pain. We co-sleep with ours. We have two infants (pretty close in age). I'm hoping at some point they'll sleep together in the same room or in one big bed. Have you tried getting the little one to sleep with another sibling? Maybe it's just insecurity about being alone. However...one of ours likes to cry occasionally in the middle of the night for NO reason! Drives us insane! We thought co-sleeping with curb that. Seems like co-sleeping or not a lot of kids go through this phase. Best of luck!

Thanks, Eden. That's probably a more likely bet for me.

Anybody know where I can find some steel cut oatmeal? Dying for it...believe it or not.

I definitely get cabin fever. We just deal with it. You do "get used to it" somewhat. We go to the malls a lot. Mirdif City Center has an indoor kids play gym which is good for my toddlers. I try and take my kids to other friends' homes. And we wait until the sun is nearly down to go for a walk or the pool. Anyway, good luck. Weather is great from late October through about May. July, August, September is the worst! Oh, whoops! Haha.

I like Fatima at Sisters Salon in MCC. I have wavey hair and she gave me a great no-fuss hair cut bob for the same reasons as you listed. She definitely knows how to cut curly hair. I just blow dried my hair upside down and that was it! Fabulous hair!

The average is one year, one word, according to my linguist friend. Boys take longer to speak than girls (generally, speaking). Wouldn't worry too much about it. Bring it up to the ped doc on your next visit.

I only pump gas at the ADNOC because they accept credit card. They don't ask me for any ID or anything either.

There's that eclectic hippie-looking shop by the food court at Lamcy Plaza -- the one that sells all the rocks, crystals, fairies and Chinese chintzy things. I know they do picture framing, but I don't remember prices.

I have moderate acne and ProActiv is the only product that ever worked a darn for me. I've been using it for at least a decade. They also make a body wash that is supposed to be good for other places you might have acne, like on your back. They probably sell it in the pharmacies along with the other ProActiv stuff.

Yes, Martie. It's sort of in lieu of a retirement plan (at least that's how it's always been explained to me). Pay out is based on your base salary (so, not on your housing allowance, etc). I believe annually it's equivalent to one month's pay, hence the 13th month salary, or bonus. Your company is not obligated to pay it to you every year, but they do have to pay it in full at the end of your service. I believe the pay-out goes higher after 5 years. If you don't make it to a minimum length of service (like one or two years) your pay out is significantly reduced.

I've cooked with grapeseed oil. It's a very popular cooking oil in Scandinavia. I've also read that it was supposed to be good for you, like canola or olive oil. Apart from that, I can tell you that it has a high smoking point, higher than olive oil. Personally, I don't like cooking with it. It's fine tasting in the raw state, kinda nutty. However, like Canola, I find the smell and taste to be overpowering when I have used it for cooking. Couldn't describe it, but I didn't find it pleasant.

Just wanted to add for others who are not aware, your EOLS is based on the pay you end with. So, if you go part-time after many years of working full time and then eventually resign (like I did), guess what? You get screwed for all those years you worked full-time! Unless you get paid 13 month salary, annually. So don't reduce your hours if you are going to quit. That is all.

Truly, a good man is hard to find. Can't attest to dating sites, but I have seen many engagements via my five years here through Church attendance in Dubai. May not be your thing, but just thought I'd put it out there. What about joining an interest group? Boot camp on Jumeirah Beach or a runner's club or birding club or something like that? Good luck!

I only know that they sell glycerine at all the pharmacies. I'm not sure how much you would need, but a little bottle, say 6 oz, was like AED 16. We drink goats milk. I buy that at Car4, MCC, in the soy milk section. It's an organic UHT British brand. I want to say it costs AED 10, but I don't recall so well at the moment. I've also seen it at Spinneys, Mirdif, but they have a more upscale brand (at least I remember it costing more).

FYI - the Daiso also has padded baby clothes hangers. One or two for AED 7. Too big for onesies, but good for infant toddler sized dresses.

I know the answer to this one! I got baby hangers at the Daiso. Not cute, but functional. I think they were 3 or 4 hangers for AED 7. And they're teeny tiny for cute little Japanese babies!

Hi y'all. I'm an avid Pinterest-er and have seen a lot of cool things you can make with wood pallets. Anyone know where I can score some...for free, preferably? Thanks much.

I use Shop and Ship a lot for my hard to find stuffs. The trick for consolidation is to have your packages sent at the same time or maybe a difference of a day. That way they will forward it on the same flight and the weight will be automatically consolidated as oppose to being sent separately and charge 41AED for the 1st half kg. for every package. Hope it helps. Thanks, Tweety; it does.

Thanks for the additional info, busybee2. I would have thought they would have bundled everything together. Glad I asked. The website price listing is AED 41 for the first half kilo and an additional AED 32 for every half kilo after. If anyone is interested, here are the country rates: http://www.shopandship.com/ship/countries-rates.aspx. Still looking for a better mail/package forwarding option, though, if anyone has found an alternative.
