Hi Ladies,

Would any of you have made this journey by car previously? If so, can you provide any guidance on the best (easiest) way of getting out of the airport & around Paris for our journey south. Naturally, I have scoured the maps & have them ready to go, but was wondering if you have any helpful hints, which road to take, which to avoid, which direction to go?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Please don't suggest we take the train as we have done this in the past & this is a deliberate trial run by car to see which works better.

TIA

Thank you Cornish Pixie, I was using Google maps so will look at this one too. Stupidly enough, we thoughtfully left our map book in France to use when we're there, forgot we might drive next time! I always use the Michelin journey planner and it works well for us, they keep their maps updated and also know where you will come up against road works, plus you get a heads up of how much cash you'll need for the tolls.

Hello AnonDubai, We're headed to Limoges, I have the main part of the journey sussed, it's just getting out of the airport & around Paris that I'm a bit nervous about, so any / all advice will be gratefully received especially as I'll be the navigator & am directionally challenged! Many thanks My husband has lots of advice for you but he'd like to know where you are going because the road to Nice is very different from the road to Bordeaux!

I did it several years ago. I think it depends on where you are going down South. We were going to the Toulouse area. My husband drove. I will ask him once he wakes up. He is an expert in Western European driving routes. You may have already considered this so please forgive my stupid suggestion but have you thought about just arriving by airplane down South? Emirates flies to Nice and Lyon and if you are going there from anywhere in Europe, there are lots of flights...
