DH and I are thinking of heading over from Qatar for the Formula 1 in March. Any tips, suggestions? We've not been to a formula 1 race and haven't been to bahrain before. We have only been in Qatar about 5 months!

Would like to have a good time but not too pricey ;-) We're not really race fans (yet) so just going to get a feel for it all!

Thanks

Forget Formula 1 now in Bahrain this season.

here's my answer if I was replying 2 weeks ago :) We've been over to Bahrain a lot to visit friends and family who are expats there. It's a lovely place to visit, very relaxed and the people are very friendly. We've been for the F1 on several occasions and although I'm not an F1 fan, it is a fantastic few days....and if you can make it to Trader Vics at the Ritz, sipping a Mojito and looking out at the beach is wonderful :) Given that this happened this morning - http://tinyurl.com/4pnerwr - it's a whole different kettle of fish. I stand by my comments about Bahrain tho' :) Obviously with the current situation, you need to reassess your plans and Bernie Ecclestone is in talks about this year's F1 and whether it is at risk (I know he's old but surely he's not daft enough to think that it's a 'go' this year)- article here http://tinyurl.com/683t9r6 *edited to change an appalling spelling error 'access' instead of 'assess'??? - too early in the morning and not enough coffee LOL edited by blini on 17/02/2011
