If you have children, schooling is a big issue depending on where you go. For anyone, the crime rate - it can vary substantially. Climate, even culture to a degree (I have Canadian friends who moved to Texas who were "dismayed" by the religious fundamentalism they encountered where they settled - first question asked " which church do you attend - not my cup of tea). If you plan to visit family and friends in your home country you plan to visit regularly, airline connections. Housing prices, while low in some areas, others are still high (San Diego and other parts of California being cases in point). Where are you going?
