Hi guys, I'm flying my dress back to Dubai to have it boxed up and stored at my apartment. Can anyone recommend a good wedding dress shop in Dubai which will dry clean and box the dress up? Many thanks ladies.

Hi there aimsoni016, With regards to the VAT I believe you have to show the goods or have them on your person at the airport. I would ask the retailer in the UK whilst doing the purchase. But overall from my UK friends that have had babies here, everything is cheaper back home. A baby gro from mamas and papas is £40 here, back home it's £15 or less due to the summer sales. If you can buy furniture; crib, changing table, rocking chair etc try to do it. I know if I could I would. Mamas and papas-cheaper back home Mother care-cheaper John Lewis- we don't have here, But you can buy a pack of 5 newborn vests for £11 I know someone suggested IKEA but they were in the papers again, as their chest of drawers 'Malmö' fell and killed a toddler. I am quite fussy with my own furniture and for my baby I'm going to pottery barn as its all certified under American safety laws. Hope this advice helps

Congratulations! I'm Due dec 2016 too. I'm with doc braithewaite @the American hospital. I chose her based on the rep of hospital and her CV. Like I said in a previous post to another lady. She's British and so am I and I felt comfortable with her. She's factual, doesn't push tests etc and has some really good reviews on expat woman. For me I wanted someone who has trained/ worked in the UK and had s good bedside manner. From my inside info from journalist friend do not go to 'Saudi German' Mediclinic city hospital is good too. However, when phoning them up to make an appointment with Dr Britt they were 'vague' and then when I asked about other docs I got 'they're leaving' when pushed further the receptionist said ' I don't know why they're leaving'

Hi I'm with the American hospital seeing Doctor braithewaite. I chose her as I am British, as she is too. So I was aware of the past hospitals she's worked in the UK. She's really nice, factual and isn't pushy. I chose her based on the reviews about her on here and her CV too. I have not heard good things from Med care on expat woman. I also saw a gyno there who was horrendous and her examination room was littered with photos, which I found unhygienic.

Hi there, I've lived in Dubai for the past 3 1/2 years. I too am pregnant and will be buying my pram in the uk, due to the falling £ against the Dirham. For example a bugaboo pram Here is almost £1000!!! In uk John Lewis it's £800 and you get the tax back. My advice buy as much as you can in uk depending on your luggage allowance, or if you have shipped over along with your own furniture even better. Clothes are really expensive-buy in UK Laniosh nipple cream and baby wash is £20 here it's much cheaper back home. Hope this helps
