I work for Safa School so this comes from the horses mouth so to speak. Safa is moving to a new site due to the Landlord, who used to be a shareholder and is no longer, taking back the building. It has been re-rented but I don't know any details on that, but good luck to them as the building is very old and not maintained by the LL! The new owners of Safa School wish Safa to remain exactly the same in terms of teaching style and Senior Management/Teachers/Admin etc. So business will be as usual in a bigger campus with much better outside facilities for the children. Its all well and good being small and cosy when children are very small, we love that too, but once they get to Year 3 and above the children need more space than we can currently offer. Parents tend to panic much more than the children do about change, after the first week or two they will all be fine. There really was no choice but to move or close down and luckily we are only 5 more minutes away by car, it could have been alot worse! Hope that puts helps to put minds at rest a little :)

Also the new fees are just under 32,000 per year now for FS2 to Year 6. FS1 is just under 21,500 per annum.

The fees have gone up 3% for new parents. No rise for current parents as the new owners promised this when they took over and they are sticking to it for this year. The fees have not been increased for the last 3 years by the way. The Welcome Pack with all of the fee/uniform information will be ready at the beginning of June for new parents. The new PE kit is now available via pre-order via Safa School (order forms in Reception), the uniform dresses/shirts are still available at the Uniform Shop in Spinneys. Safa School had ties with Horizon as the shareholders were the same. This has now changed and the new owners are very nice people who have worked within the education system here for quite a few years. They told staff that they have learned lessons from 'other school institutions' that they had worked in and will not be changing how Safa does things as this is what attracted them in the first place. The Senior Management Team will be the same as is currently. The move has come about as the current Landlord wanted his building back, luckily the new owners found a vacant school only 5 minutes further away. This could have been a disaster had new premises not been found as the school would either have closed or parents would have maybe had to travel much larger distances. The staff and the majority of currrent parents are very excited about the move and the facilities for the children will improve dramatically! Hope these answers help to put people's fears rest :)

The Inspection is heavily focused on the Arabic/Islamic and Safa School failed to comply in the 2010/11 Inspection and went from Good to Satisfactory. The KHDA also changed what they were looking for at this time so it was hard to know what was a requirement. We have now put in place Teachers who are young, fresh and interested in teaching children in a modern way (very hard to find in Dubai I have to add) which has improved things dramatically but this was only in place for September last year. This year the Inspectors came in October which hard on us as we had only just come back to school and the new Arabic/Islamic way of teaching was in it's infancy! We also have limited facilities being currently a Villa size school, this will improve dramatically in September when we open our fantastic new campus on the Meydan Road. So fingers crossed our Inspection in 2012/13 will prove that we deserve a Good rating as we are a fab school! I have worked there for 8 years and my children who are now teenagers were pupils a few years ago.

Hi there I can highly recommend a fab tutor called Tanya who tutors my 15 year old once a week for English and has, in my opinion, really helped him to keep on track with his GCSE English this last year. Her name is Tanya Fraser, her email address is Tfraser06 at gmail dot com. She knows that I am recommending her and is very happy to take new students. Good luck

My husband works for a local private company in Dubai, not in a free zone and renewed in January and it is now definitely 2 years not 3. We are British citizens too. The ID cards rules have been totally not enforced in the past and no one recognizes them so I think another scare tactic myself!

we live in Safa 1 and Etisalat fitted the new Internet boxes last July and we still don't have the fibre optic Internet that has been heavily promoted by Etisalat! My husband called this week to ask when will it be live and they told him he had to go to the main office and ask a surveyor. So he did and it's not available in our area yet! And he has to go there every couple of months and ask until it is available! Then we can request it!! Mad!!

Hi there. I hate to be negative but it is very difficult to get school places for any child in Dubai right now so if you have learning support needs you really need to be careful and try to get school places before you get here. So many people move here first and worry later which is not a stress that you need on top of being a new expat! I wish you good luck though :)

Hi My Osteopath has today recommended that I take Pilates classes to help with my bad back. Can anyone recommend classes where you can pay as you go and not have to join a gym? Thanks

This is totally illegal. Schools cannot ask for fees before first day of term! I work for a school and we definitely don't!
