I'm sorry to go slightly off track here. Are we sayign there are no schools in Dubai that cater for special needs children? Does anyone have a child who has Down's syndrome and if so, what school do they attend here? What are facilities like for them? Sorry if I've hijacked the thread!

Thanks crystil. I guess the mods removed the link to the post but that's ok :) The market runs 9am onwards till probably 3-4pm. I got there for 10am and still lots of yummy stuff left. The only thing I'd say is things start to wilt in this heat so get there early :)

Actually...yes seriously. I thought it was fabulous. There was good variety- eggs, strawberries, plenty of fresh salads, herbs, tomoatoes by the truckloads, potatoes, cauliflowers, peppers, chilis, aubergines, yoghurt, honey, spring onions, radish, beet roots, oranges and probably plenty of other things that I'm forgetting. We have to remember we live in a desert and these farmers are working their butts off to give us fresh produce. I think it is only right for us to support them. They don't really make much from the farmer's market and trust me when I say its so so much cheaper than teh shops. We loved it anyhow :)

Thanks so much for the replies....I'm even more excited now that soem of you have done it and been successful! Since I run a food blog, I think it'll only be appropriate if I make my own icing! And I'm trying to keep costs down but will have a peek at the price of the ready made icing. Will have someone manning each station and there are only 15 kidlets so maximum 5 per station! I found this link that I'm absolutely swwoning over- http://blog.amyatlas.com/2010/11/baking-party/ Will post pictures when the party's over! If I suvive! xxx Suki

So my 2 year old is celebrating her birthday this weekend and after much brainstorming, I've come up with an idea of doing a baking party. I'm thinking of setting up 3 stations: 1) decorate cupcakes 2) make fruit skewers and perhaps dip in chocolate 3) assemble their own pizzas The kids are between 2-4 years old. Do you think this will work? Anyone got any suggestions? G*d help me.....I'm feeling stressed already!!!! For those who think it's not worth it, don't tell me! The plan is already in action!!!!!!!!!

I blog too....mine is like a recipe site. I started it to basically put all my recipes in one place, try out new ones and eventually, maybe make a book out of it to pass it on to my daughter!!! I love reading other blogs too- mainly food ones though!

So I bought one from London. Just opened it to find a part is missing, rendering it useless! I'm upset beyond words!!! Has anyone had any luck ordering parts via their service centre here in Dubai (Al Ghandi Electronics)?! Any other ideas of what I can do??? So so sad :((
