Hi Suethack, After being a Glambox subscriber before, I decided to order this one last week - got the first box delivered and was pretty impressed. It's got a voucher for a facial at Bloom Clinic and a 2 for 1 brunch at the Hyatt as well as some other cute bits and pieces - went for the facial yesterday (it's only valid til end of June) and it was really good- a proper cleansing facial and she did a skin analysis thing for me too.

Lol! Okay, I shall be careful in which ones I reply to, also noticed many of them are the same ads from dubizzle, but will keep looking. Probably be easier once I'm actually back in the country but no harm in looking now! That's all! Budget is pretty low for first 6 months, tho have been promised a pay rise after this so perhaps will be more options after this happens!

Thanks marroosh and alismum, I thought it was strange too that they are using dubizzle and that they are renting multiple rooms in one flat, rather than roommates actually searching for a rental sharer. I'll check out the other sites tho, thanks again ladies!

considering that water is so scarce in this region, and that the UAE continues to be amongst the highest water wasters in the world...I think one shower a day should be enough for kids for the most part!

Hi ladies, thanks so much for all the input! I'll pass on the idea of going over his portfolio with someone in a similar field, a fresh pair of eyes could definitely help! Masters degree isn't really on the cards at the moment due to finance, but a great idea for the future. Salary wise, I think he was on around 11k before but would have to confirm for certain and no, not local (unfortunately as this would probably make things easier!) He has an American passport , is originally Lebanese but has lived in the UAE for over 20 years. He was so motivated in the first few months and little by little it's just dwindling, budget cuts are hard to deal with-I really wish I could help!

Okay great, thanks for the advice. I don't mind paying (well I kind of do but needs must) just a little overwhelmed with urgent tasks to be driving all over the place trying to get countless stamps on a piece of paper!

I wonder if anyone can shed any light on this subject for me. I'm highly confused. I have just got a new job and so my current company have taken my passport this week to cancel my visa. They want me to then fly to Oman or drive over the border, get some piece of paper stamped as well as my re-entry stamp in my passport and give them back the piece of paper before they issue me with my final severance Is this normal procedure? Everything I am reading on border runs seems to be aimed at those on a tourist visa, awaiting their proper documentation, not those who have just cancelled their visa. Help! please!

Not feeling very hopeful with this one but thought may as well give it a shot...does any of you lovely ladies know any westerners looking for a flat mate? I'm looking for somewhere from December until June next year? Just a small bedroom, furnished or not, sharing with like minded people. I'm from the Uk and 28. If anyone does then please give me a shout! thanks!

JaneClare13 do you mind me asking, did you have to pay a big deposit up front? and commission? I'm currently paying 62,000 for a pretty standard one bed in JLT but my contract expires in 2 months and I feel I can find something cheaper. The tower 7 apartments look nice, so just interested in set up costs? Any help would be great! Thanks!

The teacher's shop on Al Wasl Road is inside the little mall, I think maybe its beach plaza, or beach center or something like that. They have quite a good selection of books and educational games, but can be a little pricey. However, maybe that's just when buying for 27 students! Perhaps catering for one will be reasonable enough.

they run special tours for transit passengers, if you have more than I think 6 hours, where they take you into the city, show u the sights, give you time to explore and whisk u back in time for your flight. There is an information point in the airport itself where you can sign up, and I think they do start pretty early in the morning, every hour or so.

just an update, after speaking to one of my friends who I planned to ask to answer the phone calls next time he came up with the solution of blocking sms's from the number (apparently there is a function on a blackberry for this) and diverting any busy calls to the RTA office, thus if he calls I simply need to press busy and he gets directed straight to his employer! Hopefully that should deter him! Thanks for all advice!

I was thinking of involving the police, but didn't know if it was serious enough or if the local police staff would simply find it amusing and not be of much help. He dropped me off at my apartment block, but luckily there are a lot of apartments in my tower and we have 24hr security so I'm not too worried about that part. I think maybe I'll try the male friend thing first. Thanks ladies.

So.... if I have a police report from a few weeks ago, and renew my insurance next month before I get a chance to use the police report to have the car repaired, can I still use it on my new insurance policy? Even though the date on the report will be from when I was covered by the original insurance policy and not the new one?

Brunch tomorrow with some friends who used to live here and are over visiting. But tonight, well thats my dilemma. Most of my friends in Dubai have gone to westlife, I have ZERO interest in that so do I have a quiet night, pizza and a movie and clean the apartment or.....head down to Al Ain to join friends for a South Arfican party at the Hilton! Decisions decisions!

I'm staying with friends at the Centro in Yas for the shakira concert, got an excellent deal just by phoning the hotel direct. 1050 dhs for 2 people, 2 nights, 2 breakfasts and 2 fan-pit tickets! My friend and I are paying just over 500 dhs each when a fan-pit ticket alone would have been 595dhs each!

Hi Ladies, a few of my friends and I are thinking of trying camping in the desert this weekend as feel it would be a nice time of year (temperature wise) to go. Some of us live in Dubai and others in Al Ain, does anyone know of any suitable camping spots between the two cities, or anywhere around Al Ain? Somewhere that we don't have to go too deep into the desert would be great as its an all female group so don't want any cars getting jammed in the sand as doubt we'd be able to pull them back out! Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thank You! edited by haylbop on 03/04/2011

The entrance is literally at the far end of that car park so you can park right beside it. Faithless on at 9pm I've heard!
