thanks for your replies. We left it in a bag of rice overnight and it still doesn't work. I'll try it for longer and see what happens. Wondering if anyone has actually had it repaired and where?

We went camping a few weeks ago to Khasab, passed through the border with no booking and had no issues. We weren't even asked any questions about what we were doing where we were going etc. The problems are at the Dibba side I've been told.

Try SOS beauty in Town Centre along Beach rd. They do piercing and sell the jewellery and may be able to help.

depends on how old they are and how tall they are whether its worth your time and money. We have been recently and thought it wasn't worth it for our children who are 3, 5, 8 and 9.5. None of them are over 130cms which means they miss out on some rides but still have to pay for an adult ticket and the 2 littles ones who are under 110cm miss out on just about everything.......we would not go back until the children are all at an age to participate in all rides. On the day we went there was also frequent ride break downs.....not sure if this happens regularly or just the day we went. HTH

Heading home for Christmas for the first time in many, many years. Not look ing forward to the long journey for just over a week but am looking forward to Christmas with the family, am I crazy lol???? Will be a big change from the usual here!!! TOLB, where is home?? A week is a long time to get there! I am sure you will have a wonderful time and it will all be worth it :D TOLB I hope the week-long journey will be OK. I will be thinking of you and DH as you make your way up and up.... Just to fill you all in TOLB lives in an amazing place best described as: For sheer inaccessibility, few locations in South America compare to La Rinconada, a small mining town in the Peruvian Andes. Located nearly 17,000 feet above sea level, La Rinconada is considered the “highest” city in the world, and it is this stunning geography that makes it so desolate. The city is located on a permanently frozen glacier, and can only be reached by truck via treacherous and winding mountain roads. Just reaching the city takes days, and even then altitude sickness, combined with the shantytown’s deplorable condition, means that few people can handle living there for long Make sure you pack your thermals ;) and say hi to Ma and Pa and all of those nieces and nephews!

thanks bubbly1234, can you help with must sees in the cultural triangle area? We have on our itinerary so far, Sigiriya Rock, Habarana Elephant ride, safari. Is there anything you would suggest? And is there a tea plantation that is better than others??

I have been to a few home based parties with Cheeky Monkeys as the entertainers and they have been fun for the kids. What about Build-a-Bear? Also Favourite Things at Marina Mall was a fun party my DD went to.

barbie-sized dolls? My girls love the Disney character dolls and also the Tinkerbell and friends dolls. Also came across the Madame Alexander Doll Company in NYC whilst away for summer. Have a look at their website...pretty sure they deliver to UAE. My girls also like Cabbage Patch kids. I have 4 daughters so have lots of dolls in our house!! HTH

Hi we went for the first time about 3 weeks ago and were very impressed. It is a lot bigger with a lot more rides and slides than Dreamland. There is plenty of shade, the food was reasonable priced and there was quite a bit of choice in the food court. We went with 9, 7, 4 and 2 year olds. You pay for over 1.2metres and under 1.2metres and we also used the vouchers that are in the entertainer book. We like the park a lot more than Dreamland because there was alot for all our children to do. My older 2 get a bit bored with dreamland because there are not enough "fast and scary" slides for them and I also find with dreamland there is only really 1 area for the under 1.2metre children to play in. At Iceland there is a HUGE shallow pool with about 30 little slides and another HUGE shallow pool with a "tip the bucket" type play area both are suitable for under 1.2m kids. There are also 2 really great family rides that the whole family can go on. We found Iceland to be clean and well finished and we went on a Thursday so was very quiet. We had a really fun day arriving at 10am and leaving at closing of 6pm and we didn't fit everything in!! I would highly recommend Iceland and will choose this waterpark over Dreamland, Wild Wadi and Aquaventure any day!! AND we are really fussy on water/theme parks coming from Aus with awesome water/theme parks on our doorstep. Have fun!!

I am about the release a booking I made at the Floridays resort. I picked it after reading the comments on tripadvisor. there are serviced apartments and look pretty good and good value compared to the Disney hotels which are so overpriced... sadly, we are not going to Disney anymore so the rooms will be released shortly. I booked on booking.com I looked at that one too, its got great ratings on Trip Advisor and its a good price, good location, looks good for kids etc.
