Hi @nonopono, why not try and get the kids to make christmas decorations. That could be a theme they can work on. For cheap supplies, its best to visit daiso, dragon mart and emirates trading for supplies. Hope this helps :)

Hello Ladies, I know there are a few threads here on EW for wedding dresses but found them to be outdated. I am getting married in July and want to find a good tailor for my wedding gown. I have seen Dream Girls and Montexa being recommended but what I need to know is if anyone has had their wedding gowns made by them or other tailors recently, what was your experience and how much did they cost. I am not looking on spending too much on it since I will be wearing a different outfit for the reception. Your recommendations would really help me .. TIA edited by superchik on 25/02/2015 edited by superchik on 25/02/2015 Hi superchik, try to check Aristeo Designs Dubai Villa/shop along Jumeirah road near Emirates Bank signal and Emarat Gas station. They have their shop there. He made my reception gown beautifully. He ranges from AED4,500 & up for a gown. Depends on the material and dress design. There's also a good wedding dressmaker at Bur Dubai a few friends tried to have their wedding dress pegs done. AED2,500-3,500 is the range. Materials included in the price. They could copy the design you want, custom fit to you. It's near the Ambassador Hotel, let me know if want it and I'll get the number from my friend. edited by mommypie2015 on 25/02/2015 Yes please mommypie2015, I would appreciate their contact numbers. Thanks.

Thank you ladies. I actually feel a bit better after reading your replies. My family and friends absolutely loathe the guy and therefore was finding it difficult to speak about it to them. It is hard but I am absolutely sure I am not going back to him as I imagined what my life would be if I had to marry him and get kids. This thought helped me stay rigid with my decision though it has been hard. I feel guilt since I feel sorry for him and we were together for a long time. I have been crying myself to sleep these last few days and though my rational mind thinks that my guilt is baseless, my emotional side can't forgive me breaking up with him.

Hi Ladies, I have been feeling extremely guilty over the past few months for breaking up with my controlling, abusive fiance. He was my first boyfriend and I was his first. We had known each other since we were teens and "fell in love" (probably infatuation if I think of it now) when we were 16. I'm 27 now. I really did try and make it work and took all the mental and emotional abuse because I really did love him and believed that he would change and he was the way he was because he loved me. He basically wanted me to be perfect and I thought it was his way of making me a better person. But i started realising that he was doing it in a very controlling manner. I was always being criticised and told I was stupid and that i was incapable of making my own decisions. He was always suspicious of me and as a result I had no friends who were guys. I could not dress the way i wanted, go out with my girlfriends, buy the things i wanted or go out with my friends. He used to check my messages, my facebook, my skype and emails. If he did not know my every move, there were fights and insults. I was scared of him but I really loved him. We did have some good times together but the fights and pain were more than bearable. I used to stay up until 3 am just to speak with him when he was not in Dubai. I used to do everything for him, cook, clean, write him love notes, surprise him with dinners etc. But got nothing back until i started beleiving that he was just one of those guys who did not know how to express his love. Last year I found the job of my dreams in Dubai and it involves a lot of travel but he wanted me to quit because he wanted to take care of his dad's property and be a housewife. He tried stopping me from travelling for work saying I was cheating on him and had no time for him. Then he threatened me to that he would leave me all because I never replied to a text message since I fell asleep after an exhausting day of work. It was the end for me and I broke up with him. I never thought I had it in me to do it but I did... I met someone after that and have been so happy, have had so much freedom and feel like a better person. His family treats me like their own and are so loving towards me. But I dont understand why I feel guilty over the breakup. I don't know if my ex will find someone else but I really want him to and want him to be happy and do well in life. Maybe he made mistakes in the past but i wanted him to learn and move on. The fact that he is not moving on and is depressed and crying over this hurts me so much. I keep in touch with his mom and dont know if this is contributing to my guilt. She tells me he will not find anyone to love and that he still cries over the breakup. I feel like such a bad person. Will this feeling of guilt ever go away. I am confused what I feel. Please help. edited by superchik on 04/01/2015

Charging a renewal fee has been made illegal by RERA. They cannot charge you anything unless you want to pay out of goodwill. Even if it is in your old tenancy contract they cannot charge a fee

paying any renewal fee is illegal now and has been for the last two years. You should call RERA to inquire before paying out anything.

Hi Babylons, Its really nice to know that he has a creative talent and is pursuing it at a young age. DIAC conducts classes for kids, also check DUCTAC. He can make new friends with the same interests . Or just a suggestion : you could help him start a blog. Like a "doodle a day" thing would be good. Take him to Emirates Trading (near lamcy plaza) - an artists one stop shop for supplies and get his started by getting some nice drawing pens and paper. I am a self taught artist and what I do is go on youtube for video tutorials and also follow a couple of blogs to get inspiration. Hope this helps !!

Hi superchik...I agree to try a dermatologist approved sunscreen for your face. Your GP may be able to recommend a good one. Keep in mind, to be fully protected, your sunscreen needs to be applied 20 minutes before you go into the sun and reapplied no less than every two hours...more often if you are very fair. Sun exposure alone can increase acne too as the skin is so sensitive. Best to try to swim in a more protected, shady area. I was reading something about breakouts while swimming just now and learned that like you said the sun causes that to happen. guess i'll be sticking to the shady side now. :)

So a couple of us friends are planning on giving our friend a lovely birthday gift. She is always so caught up with work and so busy that she never gets time to go to the salon. so we were thinking like maybe a massage along with a mani, pedi , haircut etc etc.. I checked all the discount websites where you get deal vouchers and nothing caught my fancy. Would really appreciate if I could get some ideas. Basically we dont want her driving around from spa to salon .. thnx

thing is this guy knows ppl from everywher and may fire me if i do so. do u know how long the WPS system takes. It depends on your bank - it usual takes one day max. If you are with the british 4 letter bank it can take a day longer.... I can deal with two days. but waiting till the middle of the month is absolutely a joke isn't it.

Complain to the Ministry of Labour. They take it very seriously. I would, however (in light of how seriously the Ministry take it) tell your employer that because this ongoing issue is unacceptable, you are thinking of putting in a formal complaint - that way, he might buck his ideas up. yeah that is a gud idea.

Ted Morgan on the Palm is very good. I used to see Elaine Quinn but all the staff there are helpful, listen and are able to make suggestions. Are they expensive? You can go in for a consultation and they will give you a price or call and ask for the price for a particular service. There are places that are cheaper in Dubai but, and for me it was a big but, they are often not qualified or not qualified to the standard of the girls at Ted Morgan. Lets face it a rotten haircut lasts a heck of a lot longer than that day and I am willing to pay a bit extra to make sure that doesn't happen. SO TRUE

Wish I could agree about Yvonne at Hairworks. I felt she was ignorant, talked down to me, completely ignored what I asked her to do and just did her own thing. What is it with these stylists - do they think they are right all the time ?? The day I was there their receptionist wasn't coming in until noon. Yvonne answered the telephone about six times while she was blow-drying my hair - don't think you can really blow-dry dry hair !!! I couldn't even be bothered to complain, I was just disgusted with the whole episode. That was my first and only visit to Hairworks. Hate when that happens. the last time i asked the hairdresser to suggest a haircut for me, she snapped at me and went " i dont know , please make up ur mind" i was kinda horrified, what if she chops off all my hairand i end up lookin like a poodle so i just said, cut it short.. so not helpful.
