Just thought I put a note here if you are looking for a good removal company. I just recently moved from old town to Jumeira and used Fly Movers. I couldn't be happier with their service. Not one single broken glass! They put together our furniture and even the curtains, without charging any extras. Both managers (Ali and Hassan) were very approachable and flexible with our requests. Very happy indeed! Their number is 0509312914 / 0501185920.

Yesterday I took my little son to see a peadiatric surgeon who indicated that he may need to be circumcised. The doctor prescribed (as a first alternative) a oilment to be applied for 2 months but failing this, he will need to be circumcised. Wondering if anyone has had experience in: 1)How effective is this oilment treatment? is it worth doing it or is it just a waste of time? 2)In terms of the circumcision itself, how is the recovery for young boys? 3)My son is potty trained and does really well, so I am mindfull of his reaction... is he likely to refuse using the toillet and so, he will have to use nappies again? what about in school? I am sure his "big" school won't have the facilities to change nappies... Regarding surgeons, anyone could please refer me to a good doctor to perform the procedure and also give us a second opinion? TIA xx

Hi duddym, I experienced the exactly same thing! my son was a great sleeper by 6 months or so; and suddenly at about 18 months, he became a monster at nap/bed time. I read that it is quite common and it is something that some kids develop at that age (which did not solve my frustration!) Tried everything: light on, stars, music, change routine, change back routine, gave more milk, less milk, more food, you name it! What worked for us in the end was to move him to a big bed (we did not have space for a toddler bed so the spare double bed had to do!). We bought bed guards and put extra padding on gaps to ensure that he didnt roll down and hurt himself. He is 2 now, he still fights specially at night time, but it is much easier. hope this helps :)

Hi Bubble4, Congratulations! I live in Downtown and despite not being pregnant now, I have a number of friends who live here and are pregnant with their 2nd child. The best thing for you to meet the mums-to-be is to go to the parks (either behind starbucks or the one close to yansoon 9) in the afternoon. You will soon spot us running after the wild kiddos! :-)

Is English your first and/or only language? I speak Portuguese to DS but I am considering switching to English now as his tests will all be for English speaking schools. Thank you so much for your response Calili, it helps to know that it all went fine.

Hi M, I m having pretty much the same issues. My boy will be 8 months on Saturday, he was doing really well but out of the blue he started waking up during the night and be very difficult to fall asleep again. i honestly tried everything: if one thing works one day, it wont work on the next. i m hoping when he actually starts to move about he will get physically tired and will sleep more... lets hope it happens soon.

Hi, I have 3 packs of Gaviscon Infant (10 sachets in each) that I was given by a friend for my LO. I didn't need to use it in the end so I am very happy to pass it on. It is still before its use by date and has been stored well. Also, it came from the UK. Please let me know if you would like it and I'll pass it on to you. Hi Pancake, I would be very grateful if you could please pass them to me? where are you based? can you please contact me via email . Thank you so much, Denise edited by denysee1 on 14/09/2011

Hi CapeChick, I am seeing Dr Rosalie Sant (at Primavera Clinic) and I am really happy with her. If you search her, you will see loads of good feedback and recommendations.

hi Touti, I had a real hard time with doctors leaving the clinic I was registered as well. I found Dr Rosalie Sant (at Primavera Clinic, very close to City Hospital). She seems excellent (honestly, hugelly better than all previous doctors put together) and she delivers at City (she might deliver in American as well, I am not sure). Worth a try I would say. Good luck

Hi Capechick, As the other girls said, everyone is different BUT I would def suggest getting a 2nd opinion. This is your first pregnancy (and even if it was your 50th!) you should to feel happy and comfortable with the doctor taking care of you... if you felt that doctor did not pay attention to your fears - which are very personal and thus, should be always be considered seriously - then, try someone else. On my first appointment (I was 6 weeks) I had a scan, blood test and urine and I was told to get prenatal vitamins which included folic acid. Congratulations on your pregnancy and best of luck.

Not much good for tonight but there is a yummy churrascia (sp?) restaurant in the Intercontinental hotel in Abu Dhabi called Chamas - a fixed price per head for all you can eat and you can also pay a bit extra to have unlimited caipirinha cocktails included:) Hi Nic_R, I have been there last Friday night and it was GORGEOUS!!! I so recommend it for those who love meat and nice food. Thank you for the tip ;)

What I did: for the family; it was Christmas time and so I made Christmas cards showing at the front a Santa carrying a heavy bag and it read: what is Santa bringing this year? and inside it was a copy of the scan. (I gave them the card in person, they love it: not only they "were told" but they also kept the first scan as a souvenir...) of course, it is not Christmas now, so a bit trickier with the whole santa thing, but you could try a similar idea if you like it... for my husband: my personal experience was a bit rubbish, i thought there was something wrong with me (i.e. I could not be pregnant!), we bought the test just in case... when it was positive, i just said: "i think i might be.." next time i think i will try the tantrum! ;)

Good point DubaiCat, unfortunately when I was looking for info about dr azizunnisa (about 1 month ago) the DHCC website was the [b'>only [/b'> thing I could find with her name... and I thought they just got her gender wrong, rather than the whole thing. Now City Hospital has her full profile, which should have precise information.

Hi girls, Just for your information, I have contacted the royal college of surgeons of edinburgh and they could not locate dr azizunnisa in their files. I have copied and pasted their response below. Perhaps next time you visit her, you can ask her if she had a change of name or if she has any other names so that you can obtain a bit more information about her. " This has got me a bit confused as when I checked up her background there was no mention of Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Her background prior to City Hospital is: She obtained her medical graduation degree from Pakistan in 1982 and joined the Pakistan Army for 2 years as a medical practitioner. She did her MCPS from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan in 1989. She moved to the UK in 1992 and worked in many hospitals in London such as Whipps Cross, Homerton Hospital, West Middlesex Hospital, Princess Alexandra Hospital and Adinbrooks Hospital Cambridge. She did her MRCOG in 1998 from RCOG London. She also completed her CCST in Feb 2006. She is a member of British Foetal Medicine Society and also a member of the RCOG reference committee of UAE. We are posting about the same lady : Azizunnisa Shaikh, Dr. Sorry but could you advise if it is the same person as I have put, and where did you get the info about her being a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Sorry but I am due to have her deliver my baby (3rd doctor I have been moved to due to others leaving) and I want to be sure before I start worrying..... Thanks Hi Cap1tal, I originally found this info: http://www.dhcc.ae/specialist/638/Shaikh-Azizunnisa/ hence I checked with the RCSE. Sorry if I have made matters worse, I just wanted to share what I found (or not found in this case)... Perhaps it is a different doctor altogether? or maybe the info on DHCC is incorrect? sorry if I have confused you, I just meant to help finding out more information about her.

hmmmm.....If he's the best physio ever and you could not do without his professional services... wait until you don't need him anymore then ask him out. However, if he's a cr@p physio or you could replace him with another equally as good... GO FOR IT.. what have you got to lose? You can always find another physio;) hes a pretty darn good physio but i might be partial ;) If I were you, I'd wait until your last physio session. That way, if you have got his signals wrong, you won't have the embarrassment of seeing him again and if you've got his signals right, there won't be any problem about his professional relationship with you. But what if another client is faster than her? llol.... than she loses her chance of woo'ing him, because of waiting for the last session, imagine she has another 20 sessions, haha... He will be be eating ice cream of someone else's belly.... nono ... Nadia, go for it! Just call him for a safe coffee... the girls are right: do it before he is gone ;)

I would wait a bit, as many have suggested here. Just see how you feel about the company, how they treat you (regardless of the pregnancy). Very few people actually know of their pregnancy this early... From a personal experience, I had just moved into Dubai, found a job and a month later, I found out that I was 6 weeks pregnant (so same as you, started when I was 2 weeks pregnant, only that I did not know...). I decided to be honest at that point and told them that I was pregnant, that I would understand if they wanted to get a refund from the recruitment agency fees, I was really embarassed as the pregnancy was totally unplanned... but my manager was really supportive, she was actually happier about the new comer than I was at the time - I was in a shock! She encouraged me to stay and made me feel really comfortable with the situation. I know I was lucky that I had such a great manager, but I think if they really want you and appreciate your worth, they will want you to stay. Let's face it, for the company it is much better to keep someone good (even if this person will have 6 weeks of leave) than trying to find someone else... Hopefully, you will be able to tell when is the right time for you to tell them... Good luck and be happy!

"I cannot find a Fellow or Member with the names as given. If you wish me to check further I would require details of the full names, which examination he/she was successful in and when he/she was elected. The date of birth would also be helpful. Kind regards Fiona Sinclair Fiona Sinclair Membership Manager Membership and Communications Department The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh"

Hi Manubhadauria, I am also due to see her in 2 weeks time because Dr Yulia is leaving City hospital. I could not find ANYTHING about her at all. there is another tread here (link below) about a "Dr. Aziz" which I suspect is the same person, but again, no one has delivered with her and there is no info on the net, no comments, nothing, nada! :( http://www.expatwoman.com/forum/messages.aspx?TopicID=142705

Hi kts, you are so right!!! I honestly searched EVERYWHERE and all I could find is that she claims to be a fellow of the Edinburgh College of Surgeons. BUT, I could not find her on their website (pehaps she got married and changed her last name)? I am really unsure about her as well... if at least I had found bad reviews it was something, but she seems to have appeared out of nowhere straight to deliver our babies???? (Am I being paranoid?)

Hi all, I am also on the same boat, was seeing someone at Dubai Mall Clinic, she left; then booked an appoitment to see Dr Yulia at City, she is now leaving too. So they offered me Dr Azizunnisa (which I assume is the same dr?). I really want to deliver at city as well so would appreciate if anyone has had any deliveries with Dr Aziz to share their experiences with us??? I will try to search AbuDhabi sites as apparently she used to work over there, if I find anything, I include here ;) edited by denysee1 on 06/04/2011

Hi girls, I am working full time as well, actualy it is all I do at the moment: drive work work work drive home bed... not sure yet if I will be working until the very end or after the birth... I will only have about 3 months maternity leave and dont know if I am prepared to leave my baby that soon... not sure, what are you guys doing? I had (have?) SPD and just starting to feel a bit more mobile now, so I think Yoga for me is not an option at the moment :-( I live close to Dubai Mall, if any of you want to meet up there on a weekend or something?

Hi girls, Just had my 20 wk scan and it is a boy (well, the radiologist was pretty sure it was a boy anyway... we could not really see "it" very well) I am in Old Town and plan to deliver at City. Not sure about the doctor yet... I have seen Dr Nirmala and Dr Grace Jacob, but not overly impressed by them... I have an appoitment in April with Dr Yulia and there was nothing before June with Dr Elsa :-( ...Do you girls have any suggestions?
