I've been trying to find the location of the metro link entrance in Dubai Mall but it isn't shown on the mall map. Please can someone help and tell me next to which shop and on what floor it is? TIA

We are thinking of moving to Sahara Meadows, near Dubai Industrial Park and I would appreciate any feedback on the development. Some starters for 10: What is rush hour traffic like? What is the build quality/communal area maintenance like? Does it have good internet speed? Are there any gardeners who are in the area? Do any maid agencies provide service there? Thanks in advance. Hi Is the main junction between Discovery Gardens and Inn Battuta Mall (China Court) still closed due to flooding does anyone know? It was still underwater yesterday (Friday) apparently and I am thinking about how to get to work tomorrow. My car is parked in the mall and the only U turn to end up back at Jebel Ali village end is up by China Court, now that the others are still closed due to the construction. If anyone knows please can you post a response so I don't float off in my car tomorrow. :) Thanks

Thanks I'll send them a contact form to see what's up with their website. It's probably a tech glitch. It's good to know you recommend them as I've been having a few issues with a similar service being tardy in the amount of time for packages to get to Dubai.

I wanted to register with Borderlinx after having had numerous delays getting packages delivered by Shop and Ship but I am having problems registering with them. When I go to their homepage and try to set up a new account it just goes to a page saying 'oops page not found'. I was wondering whether anyone else has had problems with a) either registering recently or b) using their Borderlinx address? I am thinking that perhaps they have gone bust or something but can't find anything to substantiate that. Any ideas? J

Hi I was trying to find out the average yearly rental for a 2 bed townhouse in Al Badrah (Jebel Ali Waterfront) is but it doesn't show up on the list of options on RERA rental calculator. Has anyone experienced this with other developments and, if so, how did you determine the average other than just going through lots of adverts on property websites? TIA

For me there is just a large white space between the menu bar and the threads starting which is annoying and looks stupid. It takes up 3/4 of the screen on my smartphone. Can this be addressed please.

If you use the address www.google.com/ncr and set that as your home page address it will always be in English. NCR stands for no country region which means it doesn't default to your location but to the standard google.com home page which is in English.

Hi Is anyone able to advise the approximate cost of joining the Fitness First community clubs (previously Hayya) at Lakes, Meadows and Springs? Also, do they do a couples membership or would you have to buy two individual memberships? The website is very vague with prices ranging from 1999 to 5999 but nothing explaining what the price differences are for!! TIA edited by DubaiCheekyB on 30/08/2014

If you're renting the property out then you need to declare your taxes and, based upon what your deductibles are, you may need to pay income tax or might be able to deduct enough to not have to. Either way you must declare and file a tax return to IRS. We use an accountant to do this on our behalf and just give them all the information such as rental income, what bills we've paid etc. We do the same! DubaiCheekyB - curious.....do you get your taxes done here or there and what does it cost you? We have a US accountant who does them for us. Costs us $425 for the income return plus an initial set up fee when we appointed them.

Why not just order the big Masafi bottles from Geant online? You can also group in some grocery items at the same time which is very convenient. We switched to this method when we grew tired of the constant leaky bottles from Oasis and this way we don't need to have a specific day for water delivery each week - just order as you need it. Just wondered whether the bin men are normally happy to take away the used bottles with the normal trash? Also, do the 4 gallon ones that Geant have fit on the Oasis dispenser or is there a certain type you have to buy from them to use on a dispenser? Your method sounds a great idea as we frequently get leaky bottles too from the same company. edited by DubaiCheekyB on 14/05/2014

Down near Toy Store. If you went through the entrance there (I think Gloria Jeans is there too) you would come to the main walk and turn left. It is up about 20metres on your left. Got mine last week and love love love them! eta - they have a Dubai facebook page so you can check them out on there. edited by Tru Blu on 29/12/2013 Great thanks. I've checked them out and think they are a great idea. Is it a shop or stall? How much are the additional straps and how many straps do you get with each sole you buy or are they all bought as separate pieces? edited by DubaiCheekyB on 29/12/2013

I was diagnosed with epilepsy when I was 11 and took Epilim for 15 years without any issues at all. Every drug has side effects but they don't always affect everyone so it's a calculated risk you need to decide upon. Many children grow out of epilepsy so she may not need to take it all her life. I"m currently taking Lamictal but didn't get given that till I was in my late 20s so I'm not sure whether it's suitable for children or not but, again, I've had no side effects and it keeps my epilepsy well under control.

I'm really confused by this whole thing with regard to private sector employees. My DH is on an AD visa and I'm on a DXB one. The tenancy contract is a Dubai one, in both our names and Ejari registered. When my DH comes to renew his visa will the company take his housing allowance away and/or will the municipality in AD refuse to renew his visa? edited by DubaiCheekyB on 10/09/2013

We're still on holiday so haven't reported it. However, I'm worried that if I report it when I get back I could end up getting into trouble myself with UAE police for having counterfeit money in my possession. I haven't got the receipt from the exchange place so couldn't prove to them where it came from. Therefore, I'm not sure I'll risk reporting it just in case. Worrying that a financial institution is handing out fakes. edited by DubaiCheekyB on 28/07/2013

Quick question. I've booked Careem for the first time for tomorrow. I have given my card details on line but wanted to know if this is a 'guarantee' and we pay the driver in cash or if they debit the card for the trip. Don't want to end up with the driver expecting payment and me not having enough cash in my purse!!

Hi Yes you will need to change terminals as domestic flights go from a different one to international ones. You can take the internal airport train so it's fairly easy. Make sure you allow at least 1 1/2 hours to transfer as you might need to queue at immigration.

I can only talk about the DXB-ATL leg (which I do 3 times a year) and I'm sorry to say that the flight isn't my favourite. Pros: Quickest and cheapest way to get to the the Southern states Good flight times Because you're flying overnight to the west the darkness stays with you. Therefore, if you can sleep, even though it's a 15 hour trip you can go to sleep at 11pm and wake up at 9am so it kind of feels like a regular overnight flight Cons: Seats are horrendous! The are so rock solid that after 30 mins sitting on them your coccyx hurt really badly! Economy Comfort seats are slightly wider but still rock solid. I've bought an airline seat cushion that I take with me each time which makes the whole experience far more bearable. Food is bland and service is pretty non-existent compared to Virgin/Emirates etc. Edited to add that you'll need to change terminals in Atlanta from the International one to the Domestic one. Just take the internal airport train, doesn't take long. HTH and have a good time in Miami. :) edited by DubaiCheekyB on 08/07/2013 edited by DubaiCheekyB on 08/07/2013

June through September we water 10 minutes at both 6am and 6 pm. Rest of the year 5 minutes twice a day. This works for us. Green grass all year long. If you water too late or too early, the humidity will prevent the grass from absorbing your watering. Great thanks very much. We've just had to re-seed it as it was dying off in some areas so, hopefully, this time it will survive!

Really disappointed. Bought an Apple TV and it won't stream from iTunes. All our TV is showing on a list on Apple TV but when you go to play it you just get a whirring circle for hours on end, regardless of how long the show is. Can use airplay from iPad fine but that's a pain having to sync the iPad constantly, plus you can't browse on the iPad whilst it is using AirPlay. Was all excited to get it working but it's not working as it should. Took it back to iStyle and they exchanged it but we're getting the same problem with the new one. Have logged in under US and UAE accounts but, unfortunately, didn't fix the problem. :( It sounds like the network signal may be weak to the computer from the base station or you may be using an extender. The account makes no difference, you can home share with any account, as long as all the devices are using the same account. If you haven't already try the following: Turn off home sharing on your computer and your AppleTV. Move the computer and your wifi base station into the same room as the AppleTV. Log them both onto the same wifi network using the base station located in the room. Run updates on your computer and on the AppleTV. Ensure your computer is authorised to play the content you wish to play (make sure it plays in iTunes). Enable home sharing on the computer then on the AppleTV. Hopefully this will work. edited by RuthM on 26/05/2013 Thanks for the advice RuthM. Unfortunately we've tried testing the network using the movie trailers, YouTube etc on the home page of Apple TV and they play perfectly. The router is only 3 metres away from the Apple TV (both in the lounge) and the computers (iMac and Macbook Air) in the same room so I don't think there is a weak connection. Also when using Airplay on the iPad we the Apple TV is still 3 metres away from us yet it plays easily without any buffering. We've got the latest (5.2) software on Apply TV and on iTunes, have turned off and on home sharing, tried the vidoes on iTunes only and they work fine so are the correct format for Apple (mp4 and m4v). Tried extensive googling and others are saying the latest update has had buffering problems but that they haven't figured out a fix for it. I don't think it's the computers themselves as we've used the same ones witih the same iTunes account with Apple TV in the states and that works fine. Yours truly really stumped.com *-)
