Hi ladies, A good friend of mine that I've know for quite a few years needs help. In 2011, a man called R asked my friend's husband to go guarantor for him for a massive debt. My friend's husband made the mistake of helping and trusting R that he would go back home to Germany and return with the money. He never did. My friend then had to hand in her passport to get her husband out of jail. I suggested to my friend to start a gofundme account because I don't know how else to help her. She is a great mother who puts her children's wellbeing first and will do anything to try and get them out of this situation. If you would please consider donating or even just sharing her story, we'd be very grateful.

They do allow children into business which is why there's bassinet seats in there. I've also known two different friends on two different occasions when they've found the same flight with Emirates (emirates carrier) but also advertised on the Qantas website for about 3000aed cheaper than on the Emirates website. Take note! It's also pretty frustrating that now you have to pay extra for a flight if you want the option to upgrade with points. If you don't buy the more expensive flight, upgrade is only permissible at check in, which by then, seats have been sold.

Hi, fantastic to see we now have a Singa expat woman page!! I'm moving from Dubai to Singapore at the beginning of March and looking to ship a half size container of belongings, has anyone used a company they would recommend?? TIA Hi kates01, how did you go with shipping? Can I ask how long it took? Moving there next month from Dubai.

Dear Emirates Airline I am writing to feedback on the amount of business you are losing from the non EK expat community due to your arrogant strategy of inflating flight prices beyond any reasonable level As a recent UK expat to Dubai who will be here for a minimum of 5 years and who will fly home at least 8 times in the year it is clear that I will be forced to use BA and other airlines who recognise that retaining a reasonable price level will retain frequent flyer loyalty. Your flight pricing has almost doubled from last year and your new tax/ fees structure for Skywards is also costing you business as the measly discount you get for loyally collecting Skywards points is not worth using anymore In addition the service you presumably use as justification for inflated pricing is no longer there. I hear complaints of delayed refreshments (especially basic water supplies) and surly staff are become more commonplace This is not only my opinion I speak to many expats in this community and can prove how many are using alternative airlines Be warned Arrogance doesn't pay Know your customer!! edited by Daisy111 on 10/05/2014 Im also extremely fed up with Emirates. After living in Dubai for 6 years, obviously we've been pretty loyal customers. My husband is a gold member and Im silver however they were particularly disappointing on our last flight to Australia. Unfortunately, all bassinet seats were taken (3 of which were occupied with people without children) and I was told on the phone that the only way to have a chance at getting one was to arrive as early as possible at check in. We arrived 30 minutes after check in opened and were told none were available, so we'd have to stay in our assigned seats (the middle of the middle with a 14 month old.) So we asked if we could use our points to upgrade to Business. They said that we couldn't because there was no bassinet seat available in Business. We clearly said we didn't mind as the seats were spacious enough but were still denied. We even offered to pay for the infant in Business and were still denied. So basically we can be in economy without a bassinet seat but not business. I asked if we could be moved next to a female because I was still breast feeding. The incompetent check in agent just said 'there was no available seats'. How hard is it to change us to an identical seat as Im sure not everyone had checked in. Anyway, we were told our only option was to ask crew on board to change us. The crew member did ask people at bassinet seats if they would mind moving, and only one couple obliged - but on the condition it would be for only half the flight (it was a 14 hour flight). These people didn't have a child. Neither did the people at 3 other bassinets. I emailed Emirates to explain how frustrated I was and got an arrogant email full of contradictions and "the check in agent must have misunderstood, there mustn't have been clear communication". We're moving next month and can't wait for more choice of other airlines to use. edited by millymoo on 10/05/2014

I have had fall cost of clothes returned to me (aed 1000) but this was because they washed a wool skirt and it came back barbie sized. I also had to scream and shout. Try contacting the customer 800 number . edited by IzzyOnTheSeat on 21/04/2014 Thank you, so far I've been told that once they claim insurance it could take up to a year?!? My person experience with Dr Khan was not all that positive but other people have been very happy, so I would always say visit a few Drs so you get a better feel for who is available. Hi Rose717, PCOS is so annoying, I feel your frustration! I have PCOS and every symptom except weight gain. I never went for metmorphin but I was put on progesterone 2 weeks before a period and that helped the period come back. I was trying to get pregnant so i was also on fertility meds. The only things that helped (not cured) was eating super healthy, organic and hormone free meat, pesticide free vegetables. I juiced alot, exercised, etc. I have horrific mood swings before a period and if I dont eat properly, they're even worse. The progesterone did help some. I also have excess hair and I hate it. Next resort, laser! Im still trying to find a permanent cure rather than just maintenance. In all the research I've done, it also says to lose weight and all symptoms usually alleviate. However, I dont have a weight problem yet I have all the symptoms! So I can understand your frustration. I'm considering going for an iodine test to check my levels as I've recently discovered low levels is the cause for a lot. Good luck and youre not alone :)

Rant away summer breeze - I hear you! We had to sell a lot of stuff and I was 6 months pregnant at the time and it was so stressful. By the end of it, I wanted to just give it away to a friend rather than selling it to these people. We had one guy who showed up to look at it, wanted to come again to bring his wife to see it so brought the whole family, said he'd buy it and meanwhile we turned down another buyer in good faith, and the original guy changed his mind because his wife said the item was second hand... I had another guy wanting to look in other rooms of the house to see what else he might be interested in, even though I said nothing else was for sale. Or there are the people who dont read a map to look for your address and instead, drive around Dubai hoping to stumble upon your residence only to realise they cant find it and just dont show up.

We ate there last week. We didn't have a full meal, just seafood platter, chips and mayo. The quality of the food was fantastic and we will definitely make a point of going back. Ambiance good. What set it apart for us though, beyond just food and ambiance, was the service. Some of the best we've seen in Dubai. I really want this place to thrive as it was lovely. Thanks alot suze63. I dont often go out and looking for somewhere to go for my birthday and you've sold me!

RuthM - Goodness, thats amazing. Wish Dr Barry worked in Dubai! I've made an appointment with Dr Allen so I'm looking forward to seeing him. MsKiki, do you know anyone else that has used Dr Allen and seen his work? Does he use the computer imaging at all? I'll get a better idea when I meet him but just tossing up between him and Dr Kahn. sweetcherry had rhinoplasty with him couple of years ago in UK, she was the one who recommended him to me. I also found the before and after pics on his website helpfull in getting an idea of his work. it's good to see few surgeons, then you can compare the options they give you and go with the one you feel most comfortable with. Thanks again MsKiki, I also made an appointment with Dr Imran, so I'll see who I feel more comfortable with as well as the answers I get from my list of questions!

was it worth it? you don't seem particularly pleased with the results. The result is still a work in progress - I have another 6 months before I can make the final judgement. As things currently stand, no, I don't think it was worth the extra expense....but I don't regret getting the surgery. Maybe I will feel differently in 6 months when the shape is final and all the swelling is gone. I went with Dr Diamond as I was struggling to find a doctor here with consistent excellent reviews. It's hard to say, as I don't know what another doctor would have done with my nose. Also, I didn't have an ideal healing period for a number of reasons. My nose was a bit of a mess before (broke it kickboxing) so the result is a good improvement and the overall shape is just fine, it's just a little larger than my ideal and still a touch bulbous on the tip. Maybe I just wanted more of a change than this particular surgeon likes to do - he prefers a natural result and I wanted a projection/size reduction in addition to a reshape (because I have a small chin and wanted a small nose to match) I just got back from Dr Allen for botox (my last botox for a while, it would seem, apparently you're not supposed to do it in your 20s!) and he seems great, the location is easy to find, very new and clean, the receptionists are organised and lovely. I asked about my nose and he said to wait another 6 months but if I decided to get a revision, it would be a very quick and simple op to remove a little additional cartilage. If my primary surgeon won't do it I will probably see Dr Allen No botox in your 20s?! Good to know!

Thanks all very much for your replies. Good idea to talk to other doctors. I will definitely do that, I would love to get it done by dr diamond but I just cannot afford the price I was quoted. It's tempting, because it is my face, but if there is a near equally as good doctor, for nose surgery that might have to do.

I know this topic of plastic surgery has been done to death but was hoping there might be some of you who can offer your advice and/or recent experiences on Dr Dany Kayle or Dr Khan (in general but also for rhinoplasty). Would really appreciate it! DR Khan did another area for me and I found him and his team fantastic from start to finish After said op he gave me his personal mobile number for any emergencies! I had my op at the Belhoul in Satwa and couldn't of been happier Thanks for your reply Sarahlou123. Another point for Dr Khan. Naturally I'm pretty nervous and want to go with the right doctor so thanks for your input.

Hi ummzarinah, I started the course at about 30 weeks (the course reccomends you begin by week 35 at the latest). I did it pretty much every night while I fell asleep and I do believe the meditation calmed me for the next day when I woke up so I really felt that the hormones/mood swings didn't affect me that much. It definitely relaxed me during the pregnancy part and when I would miss a few nights of not doing it, I really noticed the difference. My labour was pretty quick (as far as I'm told for a first pregnancy). I contribute this to learning throughout the course how to relax my entire body, particularly stomach area, which helps things move things along quickly (the more tense you are, the slower the labour). I'd decided I wanted to give birth naturally without drugs which was the reason I did the course. Now don't get me wrong, the hypno does not eliminate the pain! But it does help you get through it. To be honest, I was surprised (shocked) at the pain! (Perhaps a part of me thought it wouldn't hurt at all because of the hypno!) But once I started applying what I learnt, I was able to go to 'that place'. At about 8cm, when I was using the techniques, the midwife actually asked me if I was still having contractions because I'd stopped reacting to the pain. Its a little hard to explain and Im sure the experience varies from person to person but I dont believe I would have been able to continue without pain killers if I didn't have the techniques that I had practiced and built confidence in. After my little one arrived, the obgyn did ask me if I had done some sort of hypnobirthing so I guess the way I had managed the labour was in some way obvious to her. (I hadn't told her about it previously as she was a last minute doctor). This is the long story short but basically I am grateful I did the course because personally the benefits during labour as well as pregnancy that I had was worth it. There is a lot more to the course that you will learn so I cant really say much more that you would be able to understand just yet. It also includes a book and techniques for your birthing partner (doula, husband, etc) which helps them help you. If you are interested in the course, let me know and give me your email address and I can contact you :)

I purchased it way back in 2007 when I was pregnant with my first. I liked it but I wasn't able to keep up with it and ended up being induced which led to a c-section. I wished I'd stuck to it and am currently 12 weeks pregnant, looking for the course. If you have it, please let me know.

I had Dr Braithwait for the last 6 appointments then on the delivery night i asked for another doctor and was very lucky to have Dr Raj, i'm with her currently for second pregnancy. She was very patient and didn't rush me into C-S although nearly needed one. AH labour and maternity wards are very good; you'll be well looked after. Wishing you all the best x edited by Swissroll on 05/01/2013 Thanks Swissroll. May I ask why you asked for another doctor on your delivery night? Leaning towards Dr Braithwait, and was curious.

Reporting him for the finger will bring charges. For bad driving a slap on the hand. The police didn't see either but take the former complaint more seriously. Go figure the logic. About a year ago a colleague had the police show up at work saying he's been accused of giving the finger at such a such junction on such and such day. He said don't know what you're talking about called over another male colleague and said to him you were in the car with me did you see me give the finger. Other colleague said nope. Police said sorry to bother you, if you would like to open a counter case you can. Have a nice day. Said colleague got no fine or slap on the wrist. If you report a person for the finger and they get deported do you think it's their driving they're going to re think? I don't think so, they'll continue to drive the same way. Also continue to give the finger in their own country as a lot of people think the punishment for giving the finger here is ludicrous. edited by starsouthern on 06/01/2013 You have a good point, they will still drive the same way. I guess its just infuriating/frustrating that stricter road rules aren't enforced here. People drive the way they do here because they can easily get away with it. What to do, what to do!..

I can see where you're coming from but then if it takes just the finger to have him charged - thats what needs to be done. Which is why I was trying to say that there's no point reporting 'bad (incompetent) drivers'. Apart from not much being done, we'd be here all day. But if reckless drivers, who obviously know better, want to give the finger on top of being dangerous, they just make it easier to get them off the roads. That's the point, isn't it?

Why does there always need to be people nitpicking about whether it was 'the finger or the driving'?. I agree - the finger is the icing on the cake. There are so many incompetent drivers in Dubai that endanger not only themselves, but everyone else's lives. But it is just the way it is here. Now there's incompetent and then there's cocky/believing your invincible/not giving a hoot about anyone else, hence the finger. He obviously doesn't care what a reckless driver he is. If he get's deported - GOOD! One less idiot on the road. Since being pregnant, I'm terrified of being on the roads here and don't drive anymore thanks to people like this driver.

So after some very helpful ladies posted about the possibility of Insurers not renewing contracts with City Hospital, I call the insurance and they confirmed that so far, members are covered up until the 31st Jan - I'm due to give birth on the 2nd Feb!!! It's infuriating that they weren't even going to notify me of this until the end of January! Anyway, Ive been seeing Dr Elsa and been very happy with her and now desperately need to find a new doctor at American Hospital. Can anyone recommend someone who is pro-natural? Ive seen (a bit dated though) a few good reviews about Dr Braithwaite, anyone else?
