I agree with what some of these lovely ladies have said below about you having a plan with your boyfriend. Do you both have a common goal whereas he will join you here in x amount of time, or you will join him there? Sometimes we are so busy making plans for the future thinking about how long we will take to be with the one we love and how perfect everything needs to be by the time we are in the same place physically that we forget to live in the present and enjoy life. I was in a similar situation but there was no third person involved, we were very much in love and spent hours and hours on the phone or on skype making plans for the future but neither of us wanted to move countries because we both had jobs and uprooting our lives at the beginning of our careers wasn't an option for either of us at the time. When I was with him which was almost 4 years I was really happy and I would be lying if I said that he wasn't "the one", but we both realized that it wasn't working out and we ended things and in retrospect it has been for the better because I am so much more happier now and I finally started enjoying my life like going for concerts with friends and going on holidays, things that I never felt like doing when I was with him because we would make plans to go to concerts together in the "future" and go on trips together in the "future". I will tell you what someone told me when I was in the same predicament - all I can see is a young girl in the peak of her twenties who is postponing living her life and not doing any of the adventurous things she would have normally done. It is quite evident that you are very attached to this new person in your life and you should do the right thing and be honest with your boyfriend and end things amicably because honestly, you wouldn't want him to do the same thing to you would you? Merely being in love isn't enough when you are in a relationship, there are so many other factors. After the initial love phase wears off, the reality settles in and in your case I think you already know what to do :)

I've had cab drivers try to chat with me quite a few times but I would say that these times are lesser compared to cabbies who do their job and don't utter a word. I think it also depends on how you react to them speaking to you about personal things, whenever this happens with me I just flat out ignore them and they get the message. OP, it may not be in your nature to be rude but I think if the situation calls for it then you need to be to the point with them, because some people just can't take a hint. They will only invade your personal space if you allow them to. If all else fails just pepper spray the a$$h*l3 -_-

Colombo is mostly just the city and not that many places for tourists but here are a few I remember Gangaramaya Temple Murugan Temple Galle Face Green int he evening time Old Parliament Building The National Museum The last two are only if you want to kill time, nothing great..I wouldn't spend more than 1 day there. You should try and visit the Nuwara Eliya tea plantations the weather will be really good around this time. Alternatively you could go to Bentota really good beaches especially if the beaches are a part of the hotels.

Hi bennet, congratulations on the job! My first job in Dubai was with a local firm so I will share my experience. I hope I don't get slack for this but working with Arabs was a different experience for me than working with a western company. I feel this region in general still has to grow when it comes to work and office culture. My old company was a tight run ship and although I was in a post which had I been in a more western company would have been able to contribute more, my input was very limited especially creatively I felt I was shunned and on multiple occasions felt as though there was not much respect for what the women had to offer in the office (when I had joined there were 5 girls but by the end it was just me and one more girl). Was there for 2 years and was always pro active and brimming with new ideas but was more often than not dismissed. I didn't have a choice at that time to leave so I stayed until I finally got mentally tired and resigned without even having a new job because I just couldn't do it anymore. I'm NOT saying all Arabs are like this, this was just my experience and the work environment I was around. I hope that your colleagues will be more open minded and accept you as an equal and not as a weaker person and respect the ideas and input you have to offer. Attire-wise I guess just follow the usual guidelines of being decently covered and you should be fine (:

I tip my waxing girl because she does a good job and me being very ocd and needing everything to be perfect I will keep nitpicking things so I give 10% of the total bill. Also tip when I go for massages. I know they don't earn too much and they actually make a decent amount with tips so it helps them get by. It's a personal choice and I wouldn't judge someone for not tipping. I do not tip if the service is bad or if they mutter something under their breath and seem frustrated with what they're doing. It's not compulsory here, entirely up to you (:

Thanks everyone for the replies and sharing your stories..I don't feel so alone and embarrassed anymore. I did think of the spiritual/paranormal aspect of it because I couldn't explain how I could SEE my surroundings when my eyes were closed but I guess its one of those inexplicable things eh? I don't want to think too much about it as it will only worry me so I'll just keep in mind the tongue trick if God forbid it happens again.

Oooh, I am sorry! I've been getting this since I was a kid (but less the older I get). It's the worst - I have trouble sleeping for a few nights after because I'm so worried it's going to happen again. It is also occasionally called "Old Hag Syndrome", especially in cases where you think you can't move because you think a supernatural something is pinning you down with its weight. This is more often the type I get (OMG the worst, onceI thought it was a banshee atop me and wailing in my ear, but it ended up being the call to prayer I was hearing, when I finally snapped out of it). Anyway, very creepy yes, but totally harmless! This is the creepiest thing I've heard..I am reading up on this phenomena and it says that since you are mentally awake you are aware of your physical surroundings ( in your case the call to prayer) but you are still in the REM state of sleep so you are also dreaming, and this causes reality and dream to merge (which explains why you thought a banshee was wailing)..

Ooooh, that sounds good. i_am_hungree is making_me_hungree! Where is Gazebo? Hehe I'm always thinking of food hence the username. If you are in the new Dubai side I think Internet city branch will be the closest to you. Alternatively they have in Mankhool, DCC, DIFC, all over the place really. Go on gazebo.ae and have a look if you like. Bon appetit!

If they want to try Indian food Gazebo does a full leg of lamb called ran-e-sikandri that's slow cooked and very soft meat. I'm quite fussy when it comes to food but had no complaints with this one.

Hello all. This is a question for my SO who I suppose has always had symptoms but his inability to focus and his extreme forgetfulness at work especially is causing him depression and its taken a major blow to his self esteem. He has always had issues with remembering things like meeting with a friend or picking up things at the supermarket but recently it has started affecting his job and even routine tasks like coordination at work, sending emails, etc. At first I thought maybe he is being lazy but I saw it first hand and I think it is having very dire consequences. He stopped smoking around the same time all of this started and I'm not sure if it has anything to do with how he is performing now. He is a very happy go lucky, driven person and always been competitive and dedicated to what he is doing so its very sad to see him struggling like this. He himself has said that maybe there is something wrong with him and wants to quit his job. What kind of doctor should he be seeing? Will it be covered by insurance? What are the side effects if he goes on medication? What can his friends/family do to help him or make things easier? Sorry for all the questions, I've never had any experience with this type of thing before and thought I'd come on here and ask for advice. Tia. edited by i_am_hungree on 03/04/2013

So I need to find a new girl for my wax and pedicures as my usual one isn't available anymore. Since I live in the Executive towers area, can anyone please recommend a girl from T&T's? tia. Can you book a specific girl in T&T? just curious as i get a diff one every time I'm not sure, I've never gone to T&T before but every other salon I've been to gives you the choice to pick whoever you like :)
