Controlled Drugs Class B – Controlled medicines Possession of these drugs must be accompanied by a prescription. Many of these drugs are available over-the-counter in other countries and travellers to or through UAE should ensure they obtain a prescription before carrying any of these drugs to that country. Controlled Drug Class B (Active ingredients) Amitriptyline Baclofen Benzhexol Biperiden Buspirone Carisoprodol Citalopram Clomipramine Codeine Cyclobenzaprine etc.... My husband has had to take Tramadol (in that list) in the past and has been ok as long as he brings his prescription... However as the website mentions, check with the consulat if you have doubts. Better to be safe than sorry. I worked in medicine before and I know the complications of just cutting from strong medicines such as these. Dubai does have very strict laws on drugs especially the type we have herd of on the streets back in the UK. They have also faced problems with people illegally bringing in these narcotic painkillers in bulk suitcases an selling them on the streets hence the strict law, however, if you suffer a problem and you have been prescribed by your doctor to take the recommended meds then of course they show lenience. You can get prescribed these medications here if the doctor thinks you need it, I know from personal experience. If you need to know anything else, I understand your concern So contact the consulat. :-)

I am living in a corner plot in the Springs ATM and have also lived in a middle unit. The garden is slightly bigger on a corner plot, but I actually think the downstairs living space is bigger in the M villas. To be quite honest the lounge and dining area are open plan with the kitchen so it's hard to fit large sofas and dining tables without making it look even smaller. The area is lovely and have no complaints, it's well maintained and neighbours are respectful of people's privacy etc and polite... Hope that helps. Re the water :-D we left our hose on for 8 hours one day by accident and the bill was 10000AED!!!! Won't be doing that again!

As far as I'm aware it's fine as long as you bring you prescription with you from the doctors. My husband had strong painkillers that aren't allowed to pass unless you have a valid prescription. Of you're still worried I can only suggest cocodomol although its not as strong! :-(

Hi I've just moved back to Dubai and am staying in the Springs. We are looking to move to a big independent villa with a nice big garden, we aren't fussed about community and all that.... I just wanted to know if anyone lives in Al Warqa because we viewed a gorgeous villa there today and when something's too good to be true it usually is!!! It has well water so I'm assuming that doing my garden will be a lot cheaper or is there a catch with DEWA somewhere? Also would just like some info on the area in general and if anybody has had problems there?? Thanks
