They are doing amazing research in Austria. I saw recently a young man who had a withered hand since birth and asked for it to be amputated and a new one fitted. The things he could do with it were totally amazing, even something as fiddly as threading a needle. http://www.handresearch.com/news/bionic-hands-prosthetics-i-limb-saeboflex-fluidhand.htm This hospital is part of the group of companies my husband works for and we would highly recommend this but it can only be by an individual's choice. http://www.meduniwien.ac.at/homepage/1/news-and-topstories/?tx_ttnews%5Btt_news%5D=2653&cHash=5937256c31 Good luck in your search and I hope your uncle finds a better quality of life soon!

I'm in UAQ and also just moved here. I shop at Al Hamra Mall regularly - nice coffee spots there... I know this is a bit daring but would you both like to meet for a coffee in Nero's next week one day. I havent been to UAQ but would be interesting to hear about. Let me know what you think!

I live in Umm Al Quwain so if I can be of any help please let me know Thank you, thats very kind. My husband is working at the new Sheik Khalifa Hospital in UAQ but I think we will be living in RAK. At the moment we are staying in DoubleTree by Hilton on Marjan Island and I was wondering if there a re any groups/coffee mornings I could go along to to get to know people. Many thanks

I worked in Saudi Arabia for 4.5 years and part of my work was orientation of new hospital staff including correct dress code. If your friends are going on business then as long as they are respectfully dressed ie, trousers long sleeved blouse with round or high neck and a jacket they will be perfectly respectable. If however they would feel more relaxed then an abaya is an option. Covering your head is not compulsory but again it is a mark of respect so perhaps one around the neck. Jeddah is a little more relaxed but again they dont want to stand out like sore thumbs. Hope this is of help and a successful trip to them both!
