also check on nutritients and supplements , perhaps have your blood checked. Vita D, vitamin B, Iron, Zinc, Vita C,. Magnesium,... are all very important and have a major impact on your mood and anxiety

I can understand how you must feel. Perhaps you must find a nice hobby or sport that you like to get some distraction and possibly build a friendship from there. Are go to any Scottish UK get to gethers more often? it is not easy being away from home, however, I do think Dubai is one of the easiest places to live as a foreigner because everyone is from abroad here, so it is easier to mingle and connect. It is not like other countries where you would need to integrate slowly into the society. here things go quicker and smoother. Having said that, we have children so that makes mingling also easy as I meet a lot of parents and became friends with them. Try to get the best out of your Dubai experience, do not focus on getting friends but getting experience and enjoying the small things like the amazing desert, the nice beaches, sunsets,... and things will grow from there. best regards to you!

I did some research years ago (also on this forum) and we are very happy with the Liquid of Life filter we installed at home. They are great (also install in fitness centra etc). No more toxic plastic bottles in the house.

I would visit Dubai first to be honest to see where you would like to live. We live downtown with a small child but we have friends in the ranches and absolutely love the ranches too, beautiful houses, very quiet, good Belgian restaurant Maison Mathis. I am not that familiar with Marina but I think location wise it may be better than the Ranches. The families I know in the ranches have to commute a bit to bring their children to school but it is no problem and not too far. I think honestly the Marina is very busy but the close neigbourhoods may be nice. Also check out Al Sufouh, friends of me live there and it has a very nice flair, lots of greenery, very Spanish.

i have not been but my husband mentioned that Design District is really nice. other ideas: have a pancake breakfast at Sarabeths (newly opened ) famous in NYC, it is in City Walk and then you can take a walk in city walk or visit Al khazzan park with the kids (small cute park - very good coffee too and food) Al Qudra Lakes? (I have not been myself but hear it is nice). Going to the Dubai Mall, I believe they have a giant ball park now for kids. Souk al bahar to get into Arabic atmosphere, Souk Madinat I also like the trendy Alkersal Avenue the industrial area, there is a really nice chocolate factory where you can have a really good chocolate chip cookie and delicious coffee, I believe it is called Mirzam. Go to the Palm for a lunch at Sofitel or Anantara? I heard there is a nice park on the palm too Zabeel park on a Friday Morning with the Ripe Market or the evening event Glow in the Dark I always take visitors to DIFC as we love the atmosphere - architecture. ..... brunch or food at Zuma (expensive but so njammie if you are into Japanese food and sushi)

Hi, I am looking for a student hairdresser who lives near downtown and is willing to do a blowdry (just a blowdry - not washing) for about 60 AED? I would like to have regular blowdry done but not willing to pay the salon prices.

Caroline Kassem, she comes to your house, uses only organic products. She is really good and charges normal prices (350 for full highlights and blowdry), I believe 400-450 if you add a haircut.

I go to Intelligent Health, Dr Cora, who looks at you holistically and can prescribe T3 + T4 from their own pharmacy. They are located in the Sunset Mall in Jumeirah. I am very happy with Dr Cora.

Hi, Happy day to you. Let your friend follow these and I am pretty sure she will have a complete way to happiness and inner strengths. Let her spend some time paying attention to herself. Sit, be still, breathe, and notice your thoughts, emotions and work toward a 20-minute of compassionate awareness and acceptance. Unplug from the noise, avoid any negative social interaction with grumpy naysayers, debbie downers and drama queens. Go to friends that will truly bring out the best of yourself. Turn on some bouncy music and move. Read motivational books and pray always. Dance, exercise, swim, walk. Happiness is not something we should wait for, but it is a habit we can practice. Make a daily journal of gratitude. Scrub yourself up nice, and get dressed like you're proud to be you. Go out and do some work in a coffee shop or library. Unleash your inner potentials. Eat nutritious food and supplement with CoQ-10, L-Carnitine, B-Vitamins,Folic Acid, and Antioxidants Spend time in the sun for Vitamin D. Smile and shine. God made us a great and happy person. Be great and be a blessings to others. Very good tips Clessani! I would just add to that to look into food habits and nutrition. There is a connection between an inflamed body and inflamed brain. Look into lowering inflammation and eating anti-inflammatory food (add curcuma to your food or drinks) and look up how to eat anti inflammatory and akalic food (opposite of acid food). Start your day for instance with some warm water with added curcuma, raw honey, lemon juice. Google anti-inflammatory diet for depression. There is a good book on this but I forgot the title! Will let you know once I remember again.

Bringing up an older post as I am interested to know any more recent feedback you can give on GEMS Wellington Primary (behind Shangri La Hotel SZR)? Any feedback on FS2 in particular? Also, what time does the school end for FS2, and for older children? Does the day include sport or extra curricular activities? Thanks for your feedback!

I know the mother has not been on social media for 6 months because she needs time to grief. But leaving her a message on one of her links will still be good. It is just horrible, and it keeps crossing my mind. The painful thing is, it does not come into the news here (very tiny small article in Gulfnews), and the organization is still operational as to what I read. I read somewhere that the court for this case was held yesterday. For those who want to read more, this is the only thing I could find online: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/7102427/Brits-in-DFubai-blood-money-threat.html Terrible, so heartbreaking, so painful. Absolutely heart breaking, but we also don't know exactly what happened. I unfortunately know 2 children that has died in freak accidents related to sport, during supervision. We don't know if it was neglect or if it was something that couldn't be prevented. I feel for those guys that worked there as well, the way they are exposed in the newspaper and to be asked for £ 20,000 each as blood money. I would think more blame should be on the company than the staff. Obviously don't know the full story. My children are soon at that age that they could do similar summer jobs, I would be really reluctant to let them if they can be personally responsible for what might be an accident. I am shocked by this reply. How could drowning not be their fault. Is it the 5 year old boy who is to blame himself? If you are not making people accountable for what they are responsible for, how cruel is this world. And yes the company is the most responsible, I agree, but the staff present there as well. And you should indeed be reluctant, young unexperienced staff should not be supervising and organizing sports events for vulnerable little children.

Hi, I would suggest you join the group on Facebook "Thyroid UAE", you can post your question there. It is not allowed on the group to mention names of doctors, but people can send you a private message with their experience and recommendations. Alternatively, search in this forum on 'thyroid' or 'hashimoto' and you will also find useful tips. Good luck!

I should be able to answer you in two weeks time! There have been lots of recommendations for a Dr Christopher and Dr Madhu at Mankhool Dental Clinic on here and I have gone there to have my teeth whitened first (very pleased with this) and will be going back next week to have first appointment for veneers and the new ones will be fitted 5 days later. The price I am paying is around a third of the price that I was quoted by another recommended dentist. The place may not be quite as swanky as some other dentists in Dubai but I do feel that I trust him as a denist. So shall wait and see but so far I like the price! Hi Cosmos Can I ask the price of the whitening and what procedure they used for whitening? I wanted to check for Mankhool Dental Clinic online, but cannot find their website, so not sure they have a website. thanks!

I know a family who lives there, the area is called Alma and they are very happy living there. We visit them regularly and we love the area there too (great facilities, swimming pool, nice restaurant Maison Mathis). I cannot ask them about their bills but I am sure if you have a big garden with real grass you can expect a high monthly bill. They have fake grass so I think their costs are more limited.

just one more question Dancingmama (or others who take T3) if you don't mind. Do you think the T3 and T4 you take from American hospital is similar to the one I take from compounded pharmacy? If not, what is the difference?

I changed my medication from T4 only to combination of T3 ( available at american hospital , Dr Donatella ) and T4 along with alot of supplements and a complete change of diet to follow the Auto Immune Protocol . 12kg down and feel fabulous, thyroid / hashi symptoms gone . thanks Dancingmama! Is Dr Donatella good with treating Hashi or do you have to guide her yourself in tests to be taken? Unfortunately I am not insured with American Hospital but if she is an expert, then i will consider. I was recently on T3plusT4 too (2 grains) from the Compounding Pharmacy in Healthcare city. My Dr now told me to stop as I showed signs of overdose (heart palpitation and nervous) and since my iron was extremely low last week, we are now trying to get that up first. Since iron has a major impact on thyroid, we are trying to see what that will give first. I know about the AIP protocol but I am not ready to go that far yet, I am very thin and with such limitations on food, not sure if that would be healthy for me. I am very light on gluten - dairy and eat very clean overall. I did remove cafeine and that helps already.

we have been there end of February and liked it, although I find it a bit crowded and compact, specifically because we had 4 small children who run around. We were sitting outside and the kids could enjoy the sand. We loved the food, I think Jumeirah consistenly has very good quality of food.
