I found this article on NPR.org- http://www.npr.org/2012/12/06/166615692/its-a-disaster-life-inside-a-syrian-refugee-camp and in the comments people had mentioned various sources. The UNHCR site has this info http://data.unhcr.org/syrianrefugees/regional.php The charity group that maroosh mentioned is here in the list. Can you please elaborate on Rama? I think clothes, etc would be better than cash. Maybe if we have a point of contact we can colloborate together and work for it.

You may want to check with Quiz Dubai- a very active quizzing group in Dubai. You can check their FB page for contacts. Is it for children or for adults?

Ritz Carlton near DIFC is advertising a grand Xmas lunch. I work in DIFC and they are all over here passing pamphlets. You can check with them if you want. edited by aa5207 on 05/12/2012 edited by aa5207 on 05/12/2012

Dear Angel, I recently went through a job search and thought will share my experience with you. Linkedin worked the best for me, mainly because I could keep a tab on the position. In sites like Bayt, gulftalent, laimoon you dont even know where your application goes. I used these sites to identify a job/company and then did the networking part through linkedin. The frustrating thing about a job posting in Dubai is that for any job you would have 100's of people applying. I upgraded to a linkedin job seeker account and wrote to recruiters/hiring managers who posted the jobs , that way if there is a match they atleast look back at your application. I also enabled the 'Who visitied your profile' feature , not that this is anything great but it gave me some clue about the kind of people who were interested in my profile. Another thing I did was if the position was posted without any contact person, I identified recruiters who handled EMEA or ME's hiring and sent them a random email via LinkedIn. The current job I hold in Dubai is a result of one such random email to the hiring manager. It takes time in Dubai spanning over several weeks and just hang in there. Hope this helps Good luck. We got caught in the traffic too last evening. The accident looked horrible and we crossed the zone where the ambulance was transporting people. They were also washing and cleaning the road. The cars looked pretty badly damaged. I hope whoever was involved is safe and fine. edited by aa5207 on 15/11/2012

Lulu carries Salwars and Kurtis which are reasonably priced. There are a lot of shops in Bur Dubai- Meena Bazaar which have lovely salwars. There is a popular Indian retail chain called FAB INDIA which has a branch in Dubai. They usually carry nice salwars and kurtis. They maybe slightly expensive than the other stores but the quality is pretty good.

Yes. My husband and I are currently getting some dental treatment at Mankhool. Dr Madhu was busy so as recommended by people on EW we started with Dr Christopher. We find him very reasonable and skilled.

Hi, No. I was not aware of his colleague. The asst told me that the only thing he can do is call back if something opens up suddenly. Maybe I will call and check again. Thanks. AS

I have found Yoga to be very helpful for losing 'healthy weight' apart from the wonderful health benefits it brings along. What I like about yoga is it really tones the body and brings a proper shape. However, if you want faster results hitting the gym is a better option. Like everyone else has stressed cutting down fried food and sugar is very important. Recently especially in the last 2 weeks I find myself heavier than usual blame it on the ice creams and chocolates I have been eating :(

I got a blood sugar test alone done at [url=http://www.starmetropolisme.com/'>link[/url'> for 40 Dhs without any prescription. You can walk in anytime and they send the results in 3 hrs by email. I think with a doctor's consulting included it costs about 450 Dhs in most hospitals. edited by aa5207 on 26/09/2012

Tanya, By applying for Visa at the French consulate wouldn't you be getting a Schengen Visa? If you get the Schengen then you dont need for Switzerland separately since Swiss is a part of the Schengen. AS

You can consider Innsbruck, Garmisch (German Austrian border). These places have good ski resorts . You can take a train from Munich.

We stayed in this area next to Disney Paris called Bussy St Georges where it was way cheaper and easily accessible. There is a Tulip Inn right next to the metro and it takes like 2 stops (max 10 mts) to Disney. However, if you are finding Disney hotels reasonable you should consider staying inside the Disney premises.

[b'>I wish I could remember the cake lady in Umm suqquim[/b'> who did a lovely cleopatra for my daughter last year, which she still has in a tupperware box! I found the lady here on this forum but failing that, I've had some amazing toppers on cupcakes I've ordered from Project Cupcake at Dubai Mall. Are you referring to this http://cakeandchocolatedecor.com/contact_us ?

I have used a couple of haircut and spa vouchers which worked perfectly well. However, we bought a cleaning service deal for 3 hours that couldn't be redeemed. The cleaning company doesn't respond to our emails or calls and looks like it will be a waste. We have now sent a complaint to Cobone and it is over to them to help us sort this out.

We stayed in Bandos as well. It is about 15 minutes from the Male airport by speed boat. We liked our stay there and the activities. The only problem we faced was that we are vegetarians and after 4 days we were bored of the food (limited veggie options) at the Bandos restaurants but it is really not Bandos's fault.
