Hi ladies I've been googling and googling but can't find an answer.. it may be that there isn't one but thought to ask here as well. Is there any kind of law that stipulates we have to tell our employers we are pregnant by a certain date? IE - we need to tell them at 3 months? While I'm on it - curious to hear any experiences you had in informing your employer you were pregnant. Any sticky situations? I'm not excited to inform my employer! :( Thanks Saff xx Its really on your choice. I did it very early (8th week) as I had severe morning sickness. It depends on when you are comfortable. our HR always requested a medical letter asking us to confirm our pregnancy by the 5th month for their records.

There is no way a child born in Oct 2015 can start FS1 in 2017 September. Only kids born before December 2014 qualify officially to begin FS1 in 2017. Some British schools have a cut off of August 31 2014 as the deadline for children who can begin FS1 in 2017. There is a KHDA rule which says that if a child will 3 by the December of the year they start school, they can be allowed to enrol. Your daughter will be in the right frame to start FS1 in Sep 2018.

Hi, Congrats on your pregnancy. I saw a Gynaec at Mediclinic, Al Sufouh and later switched at 34 weeks to another Gynaec at Mediclinic,Garhoud and I must say I had no problems doing the switch. We used to live in Marina then and had the same concern as you about racing through the traffic in the last minute. In my case, my DS arrived on a Friday and we were there in 20 minutes.I am expecting again and I am doing the same-will be switching at 30+ weeks to the same doctor in Welcare, Garhoud. My dilation happened so quickly that in the end it was the duty doctor who was there during my delivery. By the time, my OB GYN was notified (midnight/wee hours), I was already pushing and there was no need for her to come. In the end, it can happen that your doctor may not even be in the picture :) Again, each pregnancy is different !!

When I think of "Home"- what flashes instantly is the childhood home I grew up in my home country. This was the house I lived for 15 years and the longest in any house so far. The familiarity of the streets, the warmth of our neighbours and friends, the sacrifices my parents did to give my sister and me the best chokes me everytime I think about it. I have my own family now, I hope my son will remember something special about his childhood like I still do.

It is what works well for each family. When you are just getting back to work, it is hard to expect flexibility from your employer and given your husband's busy schedule: a nanny looks like a better option for you. I am in the same road as you, actively looking for a nanny for our 1.5 year old. It is a very scary search and it makes me wonder if I should take a career break but I do understand bouncing back will not easy so I will continue working . I would prefer a nursery as well but unfortunately my husband travels a lot and I dont think I can manage the sick days ,pick ups/drop offs etc all alone. It is my humble opinion that all that a baby needs until 2 years is a secure environment. Finding someone trust worthy is definitely a challenge but if you hang in there you will find someone maybe(wishful thinking :-)) and it would be a smooth ride. Wish you the best in the new chapter. Has anybody had their lost property returned to them by the RTA Taxis? Can anyone give me a glimmer of hope? DH accidentally (stupidly) left his briefcase in a taxi last week and we reported it to RTA within an hour, Sadly nothing has been handed in yet. It contained his laptop and a stack of his business cards but more importantly it contained his passport and we have a holiday booked for next week :( ......... it looks like the holiday will need to be postponed :( Chrissy, I have got back my cellphone-both the times,I foolishly left them in the taxi. I am sure you will get it back. AS

Hi Ladies, I just found out I'm pregnant! And now I'm confused. I just made an appointment with Mediclinic's Dr. Jennifer Kasirsky, would you guys have any feedback about her? She will only see me on sept. 8, and thats too far away (i will be almost 7 weeks that time). I'm currently on 4 weeks now, is that too late to see a doctor? I wanted to keep my options, please recommend other good/sincere ob you know specially in mediclinic/welcare/saudi german and al zahra hospital. Thanks! Congratulations!! When I was pregnant last year, I could not get an immediate appointment with the doctor I wanted so I got an appointment at the nearest Mediclinic and had the Gynaec order an HCG test to confirm my pregnancy. She gave me my initial prescriptions and then I later transferred to my doctor, who was also in the same chain of hospitals.

Never going on holidays again:cry::cry: Dolly, Sorry to read this. This is much more than a nightmare. Glad to know you are back home safe. 15.5 hours at the immigration? Impossible to comprehend. I'm British but grew up in SA since the age of 4 and have lived away from SA for the last 10 years. If i had to leave Dubai and go back "home" it would definitely be SA over the UK as I hate the cold now after living here. However, I have always said that if i do move back to SA i would not live in a stand alone house, i would feel too unsafe. Back when i did live in SA it was ok, but after living away for so long and especially here which is so safe i would feel like i'm constantly worried about every little noise I would look for something in either a gated community which have better security or an apartment. you need to look in areas like Sandton & surrounding which are good safe areas Thank you lily and apple.

Dear EW, DH might be getting a good position with his company based out in Johannesburg. It is quite possible that I might also get a transfer with my employer. We have a 10 month old baby. I would appreciate your inputs on the quality of life there. I would specifically be interested in knowing about the overall safety considering we will be moving with a baby. Are muggings/break-ins as common as we read on the internet? Thanks in advance. AS

Barlas, I found that the Healthbay polyclinic at Jumeirah has some stock of the 6 month vaccination and we are planning to get DS vaccinated today. You can inquire with them if they have the 2 month dosage. I can check for you this evening and get back to you as well. Dear All, My DS will start day care soon in a few months (he would be almost 1 year by then). If you have a child going to daycare, I would like to know how often is it likely that they fall sick? I hear from friends that they end up catching a cold/infection atleast once a month. How do you manage work on such days? Thanks, AS edited by aa5207 on 16/03/2015

Dear All, Thanks for your various inputs. We managed to get my parents the residency visa. I have a question about the health insurance. Would you have any recommendations for the health insurance for them? They are healthy in early 60s and wont be here for more 3-4 months at a stretch. We are looking for just a basic coverage should there be some illness. Thanks in advance. AS

I flew an 8 hour flight the week I learnt I was pregnant. I again flew a 6 hour flight during my 12th week,25th week. I am about 30 weeks pregnant now and have not had any complications because of the trips. Try to travel light/checkin all your baggage and dont exert yourself by trying to lift/carry the baggage. My doctor was not in favour of my 12th week trip but I could not avoid it.The ladies are right though- check with your doctor prior to your trip.
