A great dessert idea would be to grate the beets finely and slow cook them with milk (the beets must immerse fully in the milk). Keep stirring them every few minutes. When the beets are cooked add a few spoons of condensed milk and then finally add sugar as per taste. Garnish with Pistachio, saffron and other nuts. You can add a little bit of vanilla essence or cardamon powder for the raw smell to fully vanish.

I bake beetroot patties and it is very easy to make. Grate 2-3 beetroots, 1 onion and keep aside. Blend corn and peas paste and mix to the grated beets. Fine chop beans, add corn flour/bread crumbs and spices to the veggies and roll them into flat patties. Bake at 180 C for 20-30 mts. Flip them in between when the sides turn brown. Serve with Ketchup/Sauce. You can substitute with whatever vegetables (baked potatoes, shredded carrots) you have. You can even use cheese instead of the corn flour.

As someone who takes the taxis everyday in Dubai, I have never had an "awful" trip. Yes.many lack communication skills and fail to understand basic sentences but it has never been an unpleasant/rude ride for me. On the contrary, I have found them to be very honest and positive in life. IMHO, taxi drivers in Dubai are far better than in other places. Sometimes they do speed but the minute you ask them to slow down, they do it immediately. OP seems to have had a very bad experience which would freak me out as well. edited by aa5207 on 19/06/2014

When I took mine 7 years ago, it took me atleast 2 months to get the original. Perhaps, you can ask ETS to report your score directly to your PGCE college. http://www.ets.org/toefl/ibt/scores/send/

Thanks HorizonMum. My question is on this step [b'>Once your parents enter the country with the entry visa, you must convert it to a residency visa no later than 60 days from the date of entry[/b'> Will my parents need to exit the country to have it converted to a Residency? Thanks, AS edited by aa5207 on 08/06/2014

We booked a package to Istanbul with them mainly because of the airline tickets they offered for the dates we wanted to fly(we could not find any online). The hotel they arranged for us was very substandard (3 star rating as per them). My husband and I booked a hotel on our own later and used the free airport pickup drop, sight seeing etc included in the package. The remaining days we were on our own. Hope this helps. This was almost 2 years ago. edited by aa5207 on 20/05/2014

I agree with cheekymonkey- it is always better to have a discussion in person than do it over phone or other means. You can decipher a lot when you do it in person.

Dear Celesti, I feel terribly bad for you and this is something really painful for anyone to go through. Do you really want to postpone talking to your husband? If I were you, I would be more concerned to know why my DH drifted away in the first place than in looking for ways to make the teacher resign. I am not sure how much the teacher is going to be honest with you when you confront her but your husband might be when you do it. My 2 cents, do not postpone this conversation with your DH. You will have a lot of clarity if you have this conversation before you leave. Of course..you might have your own reasons for postponing this. AS

Lilly: Will your husband's company cover the schooling fees? If you are considering an English/International school be ready to set aside atleast 25,000 CHF per child annually. (http://www.zis.ch/page.cfm?p=289) Rentals- I am guessing you need a 3 bedroom atleast. Check www.homegate.ch for current rentals. Weather - April to November should be managable. December to March will snow and can be pretty cold.

Bubbly - This is my estimate based on our trip recently. You can fly to Amman and rent a car with or without a driver to reach Petra. You can get in touch with the usual car rentals (Thrifty, Europcar,Avis etc). We hired a car with a driver for the trip to Petra. Get one of those Entertainer coupons and see if they have any + one night complimentary stay packages for Dead Sea Resorts. In case your flight reaches late at night to Amman, you can stay at an airport closer to the airport (we did that) and then start driving the next morning. For us, with one of the entertainer coupons it cost us about 350 JD at the Dead Sea's Kempinski and the other night was complimentary. We went in the last minute so if you plan ahead you may find something at a lower price. Entry tickets to Petra- 50 Jordanian Dinar (JD) per person

Dear Trixie, We just did a trip over new years for 3 days. Reached Thursday Night at Amman,JO- Stayed at Golden Tulip near Airport. Drove back that night to Dead Sea reached around 9 or so. Spent 2 days at Kempinski Dead Sea. We loved it a lot. Hope this helps you. Rainyskies: My knowledge is two years old. But the H1 policy is quite the same I think. I do not know much about L1. I have heard it is more flexible than H1. Within H1 as well there are two categories - H1 for non profit like universities, research organizations etc which can be filed roud the clock and has no cap and H1 for profit the usual corportates/privates etc for which you file in April and which becomes current in october. There is also a B1 visa for business visits but that is not long term i think. That is why I think it is very important your husband talks to their VISA specialist. You need to know what the company usually does for non US employees. Based on their company's usual approach you can research further. The US visa is a broad umbrellla. I think it is mandatory for anyone to know what the actual picture is like before you can make a call if you will fit well in that picture.

I would recommend you to have a call with your husband's company's US VISA specialist. The US visas for immigrants are subject to a cap. Also, these VISAs become active only at a particular period (For H1 a visa is filed on april 1 and it becomes current only in October).

Is your husband an American citizen or a GC holder? If not he must be working on a H1 or L1 visa right? Are you going as his dependent on H1 or L1? I am quite sure that it is not easy to convert from H4 (spouse dependent) to a work visa. I have heard mixed words about L2 (L1 holder's dependent). The US visas are a little different from most countries. I would recommend you completely consider every tiny aspect before you make a move. edited by aa5207 on 14/01/2013

I would suggest Texas as well. Austin/Houston would be my choice .Good schooling system, cheaper cost of living, affordable in terms of buying a house and the odds of you finding a job are easier. In California or the East coast a salary of 100K can make your situation a little tight. edited by aa5207 on 13/01/2013

I am not a christian and we dont celebrate Christmas. When I was 5 or 6 I had a friend who used to tell me all about what Santa had gifted her. One Chrsitmas eve (6 or 7 years old) I went to the store and bought myself a small fancy pen and put it inside the stocking under my pillow. The next morning I ran to the hall and proudly announced to my parents and older sister what Santa had gifted me. They kind of looked at each other and then started laughing . My sister then later made me confess the truth and the bubble burst. This is my greatest memory of XMAS :D
