Hi All, After many calls and emails to paul.pugh and customer service operations I finally got my DS's passport back yesterday. I sent the application on the 13th April. It was received on 17th April and the new and old passport arrived on the 18th June. Yay!

Its all a shambles in all seriousness. I think at any given time of the year, the maximum time one would expect for a passport to be renewed would be between 4 to 6 weeks. I'm in my 7th week waiting for DS's passport. I've called several times to speak with the progress and no luck yet. I'm not sure what the point of the contact centre is if they can't provide any type of useful information. I've also emailed Paul Pugh but apparently he's too busy to respond...rolling my eyes. There clearly hasn't been any planning for the significant increase of applications from around the world. You would think that before you cancel a perfectly good service you would arrange for good enough replacement. Application was received on 17th April and no definitive time for when the passport will be returned.

I can recommend Omarr. He's extremely knowledgeable about fitness and diet. He's on 0501049587. He's fabulous because he keeps you on your toes by continually changing your workouts. You can tell he loves what he does because he pushes you until you're happy with the results.

My son has a very severe case of eczema, mainly on his hands and feet. He is continually scratching to the point of bleeding. We've already seen 2 dermatologists and still no joy after treatment. They keep insisting on prescribing steroid creams with no improvement. Can anyone recommend a doctor who specialises in finding the source of the problem and then treatment? Thanks

Guilty as charged here too! Its the start of the new year, so we are still 'bedding' in. I guess with most things in life, it takes planning/scheduling when the best time is to do homework so there's no mad rush on Sunday morning trying to finish off the homework. I love the suggestions made i.e. DS taking responsibility to remember his homework and DH getting involved too. :) Will take these on board.

Hi RuthM, Omarr's an excellent trainer. He's been around for years. He won't even train you unless you've been signed off by your physio/doctor. He's very professional and specialises in a variety of strength exercises, circuit training which may help with your injury. His number is 050-1049587. p.s he's not from core either

Thanks ladies. @Mrs Potato Head, there's no district cooling company, so all I would need to pay for is the actual consumption of a/c on a DEWA bill, rather than for example in Motor City, where you pay fixed loading charge plus consumption to Emicool. Hope thats clearer.

Hi SA Babe, I had a similar issue with my second son. At 6 months he would wake up every hour for a feed (breast). I got to the point I just couldn't function very well. And I wasn't comfortable with the CIO method either. I went to the baby clinic at Medicentre and was told that I was overfeeding him. Which I knew but wanted a second opinion. I noticed that the best time to start my routine with him was in the day time. So I got stricter with feeds in the day, and started cutting them down gradually. Also as he was already on solids, I wasn't as nervous about him being hungry at night. I started with a feed every 2.5 hours, then 3.5 and so on so forth. So he eventually got used to it and didn't expect anything outside of the times. It took roughly 3 months for it all to come together. But he sleeps beautifully now. Once I found out what the problem was, I just tried to find the least painful way for both of us do deal with it. Don't know if this helps. Good luck.

Hi Jessica, I've recommended Omarr before. He's a fantastic trainer. Full of energy, works out alongside with you so you don't feel like you are doing all the work. He's constantly changing each session so the exercises feel fresh every time and you're working different parts of the body. He's been featured as Dubai's best personal trainer and has a column in Masala magazine. You can reach him on 050-1049587 or [email protected]

Hi, I recently used this guy to fix my laptop. He came over and fixed it for me. I was pretty pleased with the service. He sorted out my antivirus which wasn't working, he also replaced the fan and fixed a dodgy key on the laptop. His number is 050-3848748. He charges 150AED for the first hour, once he's diagnosed the problem. Then I think its 100AED thereafter.

hi noogsy, Omarr is for me the best personal trainer around. I've recommended him to other ladies on this forum. So you may also get feedback from them too. He does a superb job motivating me with his creative workouts. I am more active now than I've ever been in my adult years. He also joins in with the workouts which I love because I don't feel like I am suffering alone :) His number is 050-1049587

Just wondering if anyone knows if its possible to get medical insurance without a residence visa in the UAE? I've tried calling a few of the local insurers and they've all said they can't insure without a resident's visa. Any advice/suggestions would be appreciated Thanks

Hi exile, I block book my sessions with Omarr and it works out at 180AED per session. I've struggled with weight my whole life so when I moved here I decided on having a personal trainer. I tried other trainers before but when I started with Omarr, I knew I'd made the right decision. He gets so involved with the training. He is passionate about health and fitness and that's helped to changed my mindset on how I relate to food and exercise. I'm not getting any younger, lol so his knowledge and encouragement helps me to keep going and look at things from a lifelong perspective rather than jumping on every new fad diet and exercise promotion. Most importantly for me, I don't get bored because each session is a set of new exercises.

Hi My husband also came over without a job and looked for over 6 months. He became very frustrated and depressed because he couldn't even get interviews inspite of being qualified in his field. He was constantly told that not having UAE experience was an issue for employers. He eventually decided to change his career and now he's self employed and thinks its best decision he ever made. So don't lose hope, sometimes when you are under enormous strain is when you become most creative about what you really want to do or are good at. :) What about looking at the airlines.... i don't know if his experience is relevant to the aviation industry! Good luck.

Hi trbdxb, agree with the comments about the hotel. we stayed there a couple of years ago at the start of the rainy season (April), and loved it. As a family, they had a supervised indoor play room which was fun for our son. It is quite remote, and the hotel is split into two locations which are opposite each other. One hotel is beach side and the other isn't. We stayed at the non-beach side but its like a 2 min walk to the beachside. We also dined at the thai restaurant that M mentioned and yes the food was yummy. One other tip, there was an internet cafe just walking distance from the hotel which is cheaper than the hotel rates. All in all the pool side rooms were lovely if a little small. I'd agree its probably more 4 star in terms of facilities but we weren't disappointed with our stay there.

i think with emirates, you can book some routes with paypal for another passenger. But I have never tried it myself. I'd suggest calling Emirates to get clarification. I usually go down to the DNATA centre on Sheikh Zayed and pay there which means I forfeit the online discount.
