Must have been very frightening for you but thank goodness you are OK. I think you should at least report the incident to the company giving them the time it happened. They should know who was driving in the area at that time. I have called and complained with the exact location and time. I am waiting to hear from them now.

Yesterday morning we were at a round about (inner road) near Uptown Mirdif and there was this van right in front of us. He was speeding at the round about and he lost control of the vehicle. The van was just about to topple but By God' grace, it didn't and we all got saved . It was such a horrifying incident. I dread thinking what could have happened. These reckless drivers need to be prosecuted. Unfortunately, i was soo shocked that I couldn' t note the reg. no. Take care!

Tell me about it, I feel sooooooooo guilty. You know it can be really testing but at the end I lose my cool and I start yelling like I just ran out of an asylum.:) then they cry and say sorry and I seriously feel I am not the mother I wanted to be. But at all times for them I am the best mother they could ever have. Aaaawwwwww my poor babies!:(

So what would be a solution since these people ignore the flyers and notice boards? I think they have to be fined and thats when they learn a lesson, only warnings are not working? You know you can't even go and tell them as I have seen some dogs start barking at every passerby!

My maid empties the cat litter box - it's probably less of a chore than the toilet after my dh has been in there! Lol!

I live in the Springs and walk my pooch around the lakes and I'm sick and tired of seeing poop everywhere. I wrote to Emaar to ask if they'd send out a flyer reminding pet owners to scoop their poop - I got no reply! I'm always armed with handfuls of plastic bags and very often hand them out to others, who appear to have forgotten their own. This morning I saw one poor girl trying to walk FIVE dogs at the same time! She had bags with her, but not convinced she'd manage to pick up after them all. I don't think maids should walk pets either, it's your dog, you walk it! It's no different than palming children off onto maids. Maybe a call into the municipality to get them to come out with their truck and leaflet people - they've done this in Mirdiff - will give people a kick up the backside! You know there is actually a fine of 500 dhs for not cleaning up after your dog? I live in Mirdiff but I dont see big change, and sorry to say that I am talking about pet owners here! edited by adesperatehousewife on 30/01/2012

I live in a gated community and its quite a beautiful place but its such a terrible thing that many people staying here take thier dogs for a walk and all you get to see is p**p all over the place. It has been very clearly mentioned here that pet owners have to be careful. I think pet owners should take responsibility and clean up!

You know i think if its someone really close to you, just tell them that you dont like them constantly commenting on your body and for the others say things like " I am very happy with my body, I wonder why it bothers you soo much?" I think that both the jealous and concerned ones will get the picture! edited by adesperatehousewife on 22/01/2012

I am looking for a camera that will give me clear pictures and won't blow my pocket either. Something simple and handy. I have heard that Sony cybershot is good. Could anyone suggest any specific camera and model no? Any suggestion would be helpful. TIA.

I am in the same boat - not fat and strugglin to be a perfect 10! And it is soooo annoying, i think a personal trainer will give you the right exercises for your problem areas and you wont end up spraining your back with bad posture. Some gyms provide this facility where they monitor you. The bloating is caused by water retention and it happens before periods.( thats what I have heard!) So best of luck! edited by adesperatehousewife on 31/12/2011

I am stuck with this every year. We take thousands of pics( many taken by kids- random shots). I upload all the pics to adobe photoshop album or picasa, then i delete the unwanted pics. Everyear I take around 300 prints after the tedious task of selecting. Phew, I have one and a half years prints to take now and I am already tired thinking about it! I am actually running out of disk space in my PC now.

I booked a maid a couple of days earlier for today from (1:00pm) Fastmaid services. I get a call at 1:50pm saying the maid is not well and they have no one to substitute! Is this the way? They called me yesterday and asked whether they should send somone in the morning, I said no so they said that somone would be coming between 1- 1:30pm.

I do try lots of cooking experiments and i have also had butter chicken many times and i feel that the recipe your trying to follow is probably not the best. Butter chicken needs cream to give it that flavour and texture. Plus i dont think yoghurt is required. It does not even need too many spices. You can probably make half the qty to just give it a try. And yes, i guess, you can use a little bit of garam masala instead of the spices. Best of luck and let us know how it was. edited by adesperatehousewife on 16/12/2011

My friend is really fond of Hashim at First Lady Tailoring & Embroidery +971 4 3527019 I actually had my wedding dress done with them (European style though). Every time I was there, many Indian women were there as well. He is behind to Arabian Courtyard Hotel in a little side street (turn right and right again at almaya supermarket (if i remember correctly). I know Hashim is currently home. I dont know how well his staff is when he is away. Sorry. Thanks a lot, will call them soon.... edited by adesperatehousewife on 19/09/2011

I had a terrible experience with a tailor( Asma Tailoring) in nahda, ghusais next to Lotus Garden restaurant. She made me run up and down many times but never got the fittings right. Does anyone know of any good tailor in dubai for indian clothes? edited by adesperatehousewife on 19/09/2011
