Hi Has anyone undergone radiation in UAE? I am currently being treated for breast cancer in India and will be completing my chemo sessions on 7th Feb, thereafter I've been asked to undergo 25 sessions of radiation and would want to do that in UAE rather than in India. Please share your advice, stories, recommendations. Thanks M

So I went to B Blunt at DIFC yesterday and they made my experience so wonderful, they did my cut in a separate section, so I could cry without having anyone stare and look and I took my time to grief the loss of my hair. The stylist Rekha has so good and reassuring that I laughed through most parts of exercise. I'm now officially bald and very happy to say beautiful too - I apparently have a very well shaped head :)) . It went from being a possibly horrible situation and outcome to a rather happy and wonderful one.

Thank you all for your encouraging words....Ive got an appointment at one of the salons in DIFC and the stylist has worked with my kind of situation before, i felt very comfortable speaking to her and hope she makes my experience a good one. I have my husband by my side so will get through it :). It's hard to imagine having almost no hair since I've always worn my hair long but on the up side I'm likely to have better hair when all this ends so YAY!!

Hi Just started the UK visa application process for the family and realized its GBP 324 to get a domestic worker visa(thats the category they fall under) for my nanny. Thats an unusually high amount to pay for a 6 month visa. Anyone on the forum has a recent experience of taking their help to UK? I have a young boy and would like to have some free time just exploring London with DH once baby is asleep :) Thanks M

I've had my lashes done every couple of months for the past year and although they look fabulous (the compliments I get are incredible) they damage your natural lashes a lot. I've been asked to give it a break for a few months and use a strengthening oil. I would recommend them only if you are going on a fancy holiday or have a long occasion and don't want to bother with gluing on and off fake lashes everyday.

I started the 30 day shred in Dec and within 15 days saw a huge change in my body, I did combine with running alternate days and trying to eat healthy too. I gave up exercising for a while but didn't put on too much weight during the period. Ive restarted on Sunday this week and have kept at it every morning since and think I'm slightly slimmer than 4 days ago. So my opinion is it definitely works. I'd be happy to have a little competition going to keep us both motivated. You can mail me at muskanmittalatgmail

We found out from our neighbors today (LL owns their apartment too) that the LL is asking for almost double the rent or eviction....typical!

"Do you really think that you have the moral right to remain in somoene's property after they have given you a year's notice to leave?" Yes I actually do believe that tenants have a right to stay in someones property if the LL only wants to evict tenants to increase rent - the purpose of the 12 month notice is either if the LL wants to move in or sell; not if they want to increase rent.I believe that anyone that purchased property in the last 12-15 months when the market was at its peak would find it extremely hard to find a buyer at the same or higher price and so it would be rare for them to actually sell in the current market. It is unfortunate that tenants are expected to pack and leave every couple of years because of greedy LL's but am glad that the tenancy laws are in favor of tenants and RERA seems to be geared at preventing unreasonable increases in rent and unfair eviction of tenants.

Has anyone actually taken the LL to court for this kind of issue and won? What would be the best time to go to court and what would constitute proof that the LL is trying to hike up rent through the eviction notice?

I finally got around to calling RERA & the rental dispute committee today and here is what I understand: 1. By Law the LL doesn't have to sell the property within 12 months from providing the vacating notice 2. If the LL asks the tenant to leave at the end of the 12 months and is not ready to renew the contract for another term then he cannot relet the property for a period of 2 preceeding years. If the tenant finds out that he has relet the property then the tenant can claim compensation from the LL. 3.If the LL starts re-negotiating the terms of renewing the contract and asks for an unreasonable amount that the tenant is unwilling to pay then the tenant should get the asking amount from the LL in writing - email/new rent contract etc. and file a case against the LL in the rental dispute committee. The person at the rental dispute committee said this would be viewed as solid proof that he is just interested in increasing the rent and not in selling. 4.It would cost 3.5% of the tenants current rental contract to lodge a case and if the tenant wins this amount is refunded. If tenant losses then this amount is nonrefundable. It takes approx. 2 weeks from lodging the case to get a hearing ( not sure how much longer to get a judgement). In the period while the case is open the tenant doesn't have to leave the property. If anyone has any additional information - please share.

Hi We were served a 12 months eviction notice by registered post by the LL in May 2014 as he wants to sell the place so we are due to vacate in May 2015. I have a couple of related questions: 1. No one has come to see the place yet, if in May 2015 the place is still not sold are we allowed to stay at the old rent contract/RERA calculated rent increase? 2.If he sells to a new owners who is an investor then do we get first right to make an offer and will it be based on the RERA rent calculator? 3. For how long is the LL not allowed to re-let the same property? If anyone has experience dealing with RERA or the Disputes Committee on this issue and could advice it would help. Thanks M

Thanks for all the suggestions! My mom is doing a photo album with small quotes from each of the kids/grand kids and close family. I like the idea of a cashmere shawl...

Hi Im currently undergoing laser hair removal at Kaya and have completed 3 session, 2 still left of the package. I was very unsure of how it would go especially since I didn't want them to shave on my face least it increased the hair growth but I have been pleasantly surprised by the results. Its been great, i went from having very thick hair to almost no hair or very light almost unnoticeable hair. I would recommend it if you have thick black hair and skin lighter then your hair color. All the best! M

Hello all, My daughter, Ms. Aya Patrick was born September 14th at 4:31pm at Al Zahra Private Hospital. Alhamdulillah she was born healthy and is doing fine (besides the nightly crying/gas). The good news is that I walked an hour everyday and began doing the moves on the spinningbabies.com website and went into labor naturally (high five) on the morning of September 14th. The night before I had eaten some pizza and gotten extreeeeeme nausea which I read was a great sign and knew that meant that I would be going into labor soon. So at 5am my contractions started, they just felt like Braxton hicks at first but they weren't going away. As they got stronger I felt the urge/need to help them along and my friend suggested I have ***...which I really really really didn't want to do lol and neither did my husband. But I told him the baby was coming and that I'd be out of order for 6 weeks lol. So my plan was to have *** and then go walk for an hour as I'd been doing everyday since Dr. Elsa tried to schedule my csection. Literally 10 minutes after *** my contractions started getting worse and my mom wanted to take me in. I really wanted to wait as long as I could but my husband was getting on my nerves lol so we went in at around 10:30. When I got there I was 4 cm (super high five) and labored for 4 more hours and was at 8cm (and I let them break my water, which they tried to do at 4cm but I said heck no). An hour later I was at 9cm but the babies heart rate was going down with every contraction (it got as low as 50 :-o). So the doctor said that this was too dangerously low and that I needed to have an emergency c section as we could not wait another hour for me to get to 10. She tried to move my cervix during a contraction which she said would make the baby come right out or something but she could not and said that I had to do the section. I was heartbroken as I'd labored for 10 hours 100% naturally just to have another doctor tell me that I had to have a csection...but Alhamdulillah. I feel ALOT better about this csection than with my first and I actually do believe it was necessary given the circumstances. I DO think that doctors should have to learn about optimal fetal positioning and how to help mothers in labor get their babies into the right position. My baby wasn't coming down because her head was....deflexed I believe, I have the medical term written down but I KNOW that if I had a doctor/midwife who had the knowledge of optimal fetal positioning that she would have suggested different positions for me to get the baby in the position she needed to be in to come down. I've even revisited the spinningbabies website and read about the positions to use during labor to help the baby come down and out but unfortunately I wasn't well versed enough in any of them during my labor :-( It took over an hour for them to book the OR and get it ready and administer the spinal and finally be ready to cut....I just think if I had all that extra time with a specialist who was truly "pro natural" then my baby and I wouldn't have had to go through that. I think because I've had to go through 2 csections that my brain is now obsessed with natural birth since now that I know my body WILL go into labor naturally (something I should never have doubted in the first place). Our plan was always to have another one about a year later but now my brain is on overdrive thinking about trying in a year. I did not know that natural birth was a possibility after 2 csections and have read a TON of woman who've successfully had them. I do know that finding a doctor here in Dubai who is willing will be virtually impossible, though I read on a forum written about 2 years ago that Dr. Raj at American was willing with a former patient, assuming she went into labor naturally and there were no complications of course. So she's my starting point. I feel the need to secure a doctor NOW who knows what I want and who is willing to help get me there, even though we of course wont start trying until this time next year lol. I definitely do not plan on putting all my trust into the hands of any doctor and will do ALOT more to make sure my body is ready and that I'm doing everything for optimal fetal positioning (which is key to an easy labor) hi ummzarinah its such a coincidence, i delivered at Al Zahra on 15th Sept at 2.20pm and oddly i had the same experience with an emergency C section. I went into labour naturally but the baby's head didnt engage and was finally told there is no other option besides a C sec. the operation went well and i delivered a healthy baby but i still wish i had been given excercise suggestions in advance to make the head get in position in time. how are you coping with the little one? XX

Thank perkyana I did go for an antenatal class at the hospital yesterday and they have assured me of a midwife through my labour, so I'm more confident going without a doula now :)

hi ladies, hows everyone feeling. im at the start of my 35th weeks, so excited and nervous all the same. i wanted to check if anyone has decided to have a doula - not from the hospital during their labour/delivery. i am very keen to have a drug free delivery and am reading that doulas can really help with the process. I am 34 weeks and have put on 10 kgs since the beginning and at my last doc appt was told I've put on too much weight 2.5 kgs in the last 2 weeks. Im now required to walk/exercise everyday and reduce carbs, ice cream, sweets, fried food. Which is hard but I guess worth it for a healthy delivery. My doc actually called me a balloon :(

wow!! those are some great ideas. Thanks all. @BallyBlighter - I'm looking at a budget of around AED 2000 including space, f&b. Not sure if i can find a hotel that does fit within the budget, so thought a villa will probably be cheaper, but its looking like a hard to find option now. @jac - do you know if hotels allow parties in the rooms or do they have noise restrictions etc.?
